Sophia glanced back at him, rolled her eyes, and took two more steps forward. Half of her body disappeared into the palace wall, then her entire figure vanished.
Leo immediately used an earth escape technique and appeared beside Sophia in the next second.
“This is truly amazing,” Sophia said in astonishment, turning to look at the palace wall behind her. The earthy aura around her had completely vanished.
“Leo, with your incredible skills, will you one day ascend to immortality and leave me?” Sophia suddenly asked.
“What nonsense are you thinking? Of course not!” Leo took Sophia’s hand again. “How does that saying go? Oh right, ‘I’d rather be a pair of lovebirds than envy immortals.'”
Boom!
A loud rumble echoed, and large raindrops began to fall from the sky.
The long-muted sky finally released its rain.
Leo took off his coat and draped it over Sophia’s head. The two of them started running in the rain.
They didn’t run far before they saw a restaurant within the Imperial Palace.
Entering the restaurant, they ordered some food and chose a window seat.
While eating, they watched the raindrops patter on the bluestone pavement outside.
The Imperial Palace in the rain had a unique charm.
After the rain stopped, sunlight pierced through the clouds once again.
The setting sun gave a feeling of endless beauty, though it was near dusk.
It was already 4:30 PM, just half an hour before the Imperial Palace would close for the day.
Leaving the Imperial Palace, they took a taxi to the Donghua Gate Night Market for some fun and then found a well-reviewed hotel to stay for the night.
Today had been an exhilarating day for Sophia.
Especially the trip to the Imperial Palace, which felt thrilling to her. Perhaps her previous life had been too dull; Sophia found herself somewhat enjoying this different kind of life.
Entering the hotel room, Sophia seemed a bit lazy. She wrapped her arms around Leo’s neck, gave him a kiss on the lips, then smiled seductively and headed for the bathroom.
Leo wouldn’t miss such a good opportunity. Hearing the sound of water in the bathroom, he grinned mischievously and slipped inside.
Sophia let out an instinctive shy yelp, followed by indescribable events in the bathroom…
The next day, after having breakfast at the hotel, Leo and Sophia returned to Langstel together.
Back at Villa No. 9 on Cloud Dream Mountain, mother-in-law Jessica was also there. To Leo’s surprise, Jessica, who usually ignored him, was exceptionally warm towards him today.
Jessica’s first words upon seeing Leo were: “Good son-in-law, I’ve been eagerly waiting for you. I know you’ve remarried Sophia; we’re still one family.”
Although Jessica’s change in attitude was unexpected, it was also understandable.
After repeatedly demonstrating his immense power and wealth, if Jessica still stubbornly opposed him, she wouldn’t be the deeply opportunistic Jessica he knew.
Being adaptable was Jessica’s innate skill.
Leo’s return also made Nora very happy; she decided to cook a couple of her best dishes.
Without Jessica’s unreasonable troublemaking, family life was noticeably more harmonious.
Dinner was a joyful affair.
Since joining the Henley family, it was Leo’s first time experiencing such familial warmth.
He just didn’t know how long this warmth would last.
Who knew when Jessica might act up again?
While Leo was having dinner, a group of people arrived at an abandoned construction site in Eastcurrent District.
“Cyan, do you think that bastard Bob will come today?” asked a yellow-haired youth with shifty eyes.
Next to him stood a burly man with a fierce face. Hearing the youth’s question, he snorted coldly: “I’ve issued him a challenge; he’ll definitely come!”
“Everyone stay alert. Once we take down Bob, Langstel’s nightlife will be ours.”
“Don’t worry, Cyan. We’ll definitely take down Bob!” several subordinates assured him simultaneously.
A sharp glint flashed in Cyan’s eyes: “No one can stop me from unifying Langstel’s nightlife. Bob, Chasel, Bevis-they’re all trash to me!”
“Cyan, look! Someone’s coming; it should be Bob and his men!” The yellow-haired youth pointed ahead.
Cyan looked forward and indeed saw Bob approaching with several people.
Cyan waved his hand, and his men immediately surrounded them.
“Bob, you’re late,” Cyan said with a sidelong glance at Bob.
“Who are you?” Bob asked coldly, having never seen Cyan before.
Cyan sneered: “You don’t need to know who I am. I’m giving you a choice now: leave Langstel, and I’ll spare your life!”
“Is that so? I’ll give you a choice too: kneel before me and apologize, and I’ll spare your life!” Bob retorted, never having been threatened before.
Cyan laughed wildly: “Bob, you’re too full of yourself. You brought so few people; do you think you can defeat us with just them?”
Bob remained unfazed: “You can try!”
Cyan didn’t waste any more words and commanded: “Attack! Kill them!”
Cyan’s men drew their weapons and charged at Bob and his group.
A fierce battle ensued immediately.
Three minutes later, except for Bob and Chasel, all five of their companions were downed by Cyan’s men.
Of course, ten of Cyan’s men were also downed, but he still had over ten men left standing.
The advantage was clear.
Bob realized he had underestimated his opponent.
“Bob, you’ve got some skills. Let’s see how you fare against me!” Cyan grabbed a machete from one of his men and charged at Bob with a roar.
Cyan’s blade moved swiftly. Bob instinctively tried to dodge but found his movements sluggish for a moment.
This hesitation allowed Cyan’s blade to slice across Bob’s arm. Though it didn’t sever his arm, it left him bleeding profusely.
Chasel rushed forward with his knife but was kicked away by Cyan in an instant. He landed heavily and spat out blood, unable to get up again.
“You’re a Martial Cultivator!?” Bob exclaimed in shock.
“That’s right. Crushing you is as easy as crushing an ant!”
Cyan said with an evil grin. His figure blurred as he appeared before Bob and kicked him hard.
Bob was sent flying by Cyan’s kick and landed heavily on the ground, blood oozing from his mouth.
Holding his machete proudly, Cyan laughed maniacally: “Bob, someone as weak as you dares to rule Langstel’s nightlife? After today, Langstel will no longer have anyone like you!”
