“Blossom! Wake up, Blossom!”
Benjamin didn’t arrive at the hospital, calling Blossom loudly, until it’s almost at dawn.
“Doctor, she was stabbed in the left side of the belly 20 minutes ago.”
After he described precisely the details of the weapon and Blossom’s condition, the doctor and nurses pushed Blossom into the operating theatre, doing a more-than-two-hour surgery, and Benjamin was waiting still outside the door of the room like a quiet stature.
Hayden arrived at the hospital at 9 a. m.
She knew nothing about the whole plan until she overheard the conversation between the housekeeper and Mr. Beckham that Franklin was taken away by the police, and it’s reported by the media that something happened in the warehouse.
She at once rang up Joseph who went to the ST Group early in the morning, and reproached him furiously after knowing that the plan was made up by him and Benjamin.
“Don’t you know Benjamin is so young? He has no experience! Why not just call the police? What if anything severer happened?”
Joseph stayed silent until she stopped blaming him,
“I will go to the hospital when the company is operating as usual. You can go there first. He is fine actually, but the leader of the same team got wounded.”
When Hayden was informed that Blossom was hurt because of protecting Benjamin, she became outraged.
“You need to be more meticulous before taking actions. The girl is just 19 years old and how can you comfort her parents if she dies.”
Benjamin listened to Hayden’s scolding quietly, standing at the door of the ward.
“Do you learn from Joseph?” Hayden pinched him, “All the men are the same. When they do something wrong, they say nothing.”
Then she gave her bag to Benjamin,
“What are you doing? Go and buy some food, some bland food.”
Benjamin answered, “Ok, I will be back soon.”
Looking at his back, Hayden sighed.
Although he was smart in analyzing like an adult, he seemed obtuse now who didn’t any food for the girl. A night passed, and the girl must need food to gain some energy. What an idiot in relationship.
In the ward which was painted white, Hayden bought a bunch of flowers to Blossom who now was recovering in the general ward after the operation.
When she entered, the girl reading a book about military and weapons looked up instantly, and after she recognized who she was, she smiled,
“I remember you. You are the Benjamin’s sister.”
“Yes.” Hayden smiled as well, putting the flowers at the bedside, “I am Hayden, several years your senior. You can treat me as your sister as Benjamin does.”
Actually, Hayden indicated nothing but the girl had more thoughts with a flushed face, who ducked her head and twisted the quilt, saying, “Benjamin and I are just classmates and comrades and we are not in love…”
Hayden was amused. She didn’t want Blossom to lose face, so she said, “Alright, you can call my name directly. After all, I am not very old.”
“Thank you. You are a good sister.” Blossom answered.
“Your name is Blossom?” Hayden asked.
“Yes.” Blossom nodded, “They all call me like that.”
“I was told that you got wounded because of Benjamin.”
“It’s fine,” Blossom said seriously, “I am responsible for his safety since he is the member of my team.”
“Really?” Hayden said deliberately, “Oh, I have misunderstood your relationship and I rejected to arrange a blind date for Benjamin before. Now I’d better resume it.”
“No, please don’t!”
Hearing this, Blossom became anxious and nearly jumped out of the bed.
Hayden pressed her back to the bed quickly, “Stay quiet. You have not recovered. Mind your wound, Blossom.”
“Don’t arrange that for him.” Blossom looked nervous, “He cannot have a date with another girl.”
“Why?”
Hayden teased.
Blossom kept a flushed face and then she answered directly, “Because I love him.”
At this moment, Benjamin opened the door with a bag of food. He walked in confusedly, put the food at the bedside and asked casually,
“You love what?”
Blossom bit her lips and stared at him for a few seconds, “I love you.”
Benjamin suddenly stopped and kept bending down
“Do something else, Benjamin.” Hayden made fun of him.
“What?” Benjamin was not sober any more. He stood straight and answered, “Oh, there’s no soup here. I’d better buy some soup now.”
Then he ran away at once.
Blossom shouted at his back, “You know what I mean. If I don’t love you, why did I get hurt for you?”
Her voice was so powerful that she was not like a girl who just had her wound sewed by needles.
Hayden now realized why people regarded Blossom valiant.
She thought that Blossom was innocent and naïve with good balances, while Benjamin was smart yet weak in fighting. They were the opposite of each other. Their story was that a bold girl tried to win the affection of a young man who was quite indifferent in love on the campus.
“Why did he run so fast? I am not a devil.”
Blossom was unhappy about his reaction.
“But you seemed to want to do something to him right now.” Hayden could not help smiling and thumbed up to her, “You did a good job.”
“But he doesn’t love me.” Blossom looked upset, continuing to twist the quilt and then sighed, “Hayden, which kind of girls Benjamin likes?”
Hayden was silent at the question and something suddenly occurred to her. She told Blossom, “Oh, I know! I have heard it from him before.”
“Tell me please.”
Actually she could not remember all the details since she asked him when they drank the milky tea in the University of Public and Security. But his last words were clear to her.
“He said he loved the one who was similar to his mother.” Hayden said firmly.
“What?” Blossom could not believe that and stammered, “Similar to his mother?”
It was a surprise to Blossom who never thought that he had the Oedipus Complex. He now was a man with a twisted mind to her.
Outside the hospital, Benjamin sneezed for several times, feeling that his neck was cold and gathering his cloak around him.
He pondered that it’s always extremely cold before the frost and after the snow which was falling last night. Now he felt that his limbs were ice-cold.
