“Stop!”
Zhong Teng bounced off his seat and almost hit Tom on the back of the head with his fist.
Fortunately, he sat up straight and kept his distance.
“Xiaomo, it’s all my fault. If it hadn’t been for me, you and Qingbao wouldn’t have been in this accident.” Tom ignored Zhong Teng’s behavior and uttered words full of regret and remorse.
Mo Xiaomo shook her head, “The accident in everyone’s life is destined. Nobody can avoid it.”
“Perhaps, this is called ‘One who survives a great disaster is destined to a good fortune for ever after’?” Mo Xiaomo suddenly thought of an old saying and murmured it.
There was a smile in Tom’s eyes. He sighed softly.
“You’re safe, and I can go back in peace.”
“And you’ve had a hard time… Will you go to France again this time?” Whispered Mo Xiaomo.
Tom nodded. “After taking care of things at home, I’ll go back to France.”
He wasn’t talking about going to France, he was talking about going back to France. Mo Xiaomo noticed this detail.
“Isn’t it good to stay at home?”
“It would be nice to stay, but you and Qingbao already have a home.” Tom’s voice was slightly wistful.
“Haobei.” Mo Xiaomo felt herself choked up.
“Ahem –” Zhong Teng coughed deliberately, scratched the back of his head and look out the window.
“Qingbao and I all think you are our family…” Mo Xiaomo moved away her eyes on Zhong Teng and said to Tom.
“I will not return to China until I change my mind that I want you to be my lover.”
Tom smiled, rubbed Mo Xiaomo’s head lovingly, and rose from his seat.
“Haobei.” Mo Xiaomo suddenly took his hand, which was seen by Zhong Teng. He coughed again and tried to spoil the vibe.
“What are you trying to say?” Tom was not affected by Zhong Teng at all. He looked at Mo Xiaomo affectionately.
“Next life, I will meet you in the best age.” There was an unshakable firmness in her faint voice.
“Ahem!” Zhong Teng was so angry that he had to keep coughing.
Tom smiled and kissed on the back of Mo Xiaomo’s hand. “Your lover in this life probably will not give away the chance to make you happy even in the next life.”
Tom didn’t stay long. He pulled open the door, ready to leave. Then he looked back at Zhong Teng.
That glance, was full of complex feelings.
There was expectation that Zhong Teng takes good care of Mo Xiaomo.
There was no verbal communication between them, but Zhong Teng understood Tom’s eyes. He nodded his head and expressed his determination.
No sooner had Tom left than Zhong Ze knocked on the door and came in.
“Mo Xiaomo! I’m so glad to see you alive!” Zhong Ze grinned, sat on the stool and picked up the flowers on the table.
“How can you talk like this!” Zhong Teng’s face turned pale when he recalled how he mistook Mo Xiaomo for the corpse under the white cloth.
“Zhong Ze meant no harm…” Mo Xiaomo said she didn’t find Zhong Ze’s words offensive.
“Yes!” Zhong Ze raised his eyebrows in triumph.
“I really want to hit you.” Zhong Teng glared at him.
“I am your brother why do you hit me?” Zhong Ze shrugged and moved to Mo Xiaomo.
“Do you have to be angry with a child…” Mo Xiaomo thought Zhong Teng’s anger was a little too much. The reason might be that he had been restrained his anger when he saw Tom’s behavior. Then he vented his anger on Zhong Ze.
“Wow, sister-in-law, my brother has a serious tendency to violence, you’d better think twice if you want to marry him.” Zhong Ze pretended to whisper in Mo Xiaomo’s ear, but his words were high enough for Zhong Teng to hear.
“Get out!” Zhong Teng glared at Zhong Ze.
“I’ll see you later, sister-in-law!” Zhong Ze waved and walked out, grinning.
At last the room was quiet. Mo Xiaomo lay on her side and closed her eyes.
Zhong Teng looked at her who seemed to be unwilling to talk to him. “Are you really ready to reconsider?” he said.
