For five years, Emerson thought his girl and children were no longer in the world. He never dared to think that suddenly one day, she appeared in front of him with her son quietly and without any warning.
Candice was distracted and didn’t find Emerson walking in front of her. But Edward looked up at the tall man and politely called him, “father Emerson.”
Emerson wanted to touch Candice’s face. His hands were stiff in the air. He looked down and looked at the little boy who looks like him.
Candice regained her mind and looked at the hand that almost fell on her face. She took a step back and said, “Brother-in-law.”
Emerson’s heart began to sink. In those nights, she did not call himself brother-in-law.
He thought, “Emerson, what are you doing? She can live, and can stand here is the best, you still mind a title?”
Emerson nodded slightly, with a well-disguised expression. He put down his hand and touched the top of the little boy’s head, and then he bent down to pick him up, “it’s good that you’ve grown so big. What’s your name? ”
Edward liked his father Emerson very much. He had an inexplicable closeness to Emerson and said, “Dad, my name is Edward.”
Emerson, whose face was always tight and serious, showed a rare smile, “Edward, what a nice name.”
He turned his head and looked at Candice again. His eyes were full of different emotion.
Candice didn’t look at him, just stood still. Her head was half down and there was no expression on her face. It seemed that the man in front of her has never slept with her, as if he was just her brother-in-law.
When Emerson didn’t get a response, he had to turn back and talked to his son. His son was more sensible and intelligent than he thought. He seemed not like a five-year-old children at all. He can communicate normally. Emerson learned from his son that they lived in a small town in the northwest, where sand would blow from time to time. His mother worked in a kindergarten and never took him out of the town.
Candice watched them walking and talking not far away. They were so harmonious that they didn’t look strange when they met for the first time.
All this, perhaps, should be attributed to blood relationship.
The red iron gate of the detention center was pushed open. Candice looked over and saw a man coming out of the door.
Robert became black, but strong. He had short hair and tan skin, which was not the same as he used to be.
Robert thought that the one waiting at the door would be his brother, but the first people he saw was Candice. His eyes were full of disbelief, and his bag fell to the ground. After several seconds, he came forward and held Candice tightly in his arms.
They had been husband and wife for more than five years. It was the first time Robert held his wife so tightly.
Candice clenched her hands tightly on both sides of her thighs, and finally slowly hugged Robert, “My husband, I’ll take you home.”
She called him husband, which made Robert burst into tears. He buried his face on Candice’s shoulder, crying like a child, “I thought you didn’t want me.”
“How can I give up on you? You are the father of my child.” Candice said quietly.
Emerson held his son and looked at the two people hugging each other. Both of them were the people he loved. He didn’t know what mood he was in or what mood he should be. It seemed that everything was his own, even the son in his arms was his own, but he felt that he was an outsider.
