She turned around and looked at the door.
Sienna was frowning as she walked in. She didn’t knock the door, nor did she say anything. All Rachel could hear was her heavy footsteps and all she could feel was Sienna’s sharp and cold gaze at her.
Rachel was startled and she quickly stood up. She felt like a thief, having Sienna glared so coldly at her.
The footsteps finally stopped. Ewan clenched his fist and yelled, “Get out!”
The sudden loud voice scared Rachel to death, she looked at Ewan helplessly.
She treated his wound, tried to explain herself and apologize to him, but he didn’t say anything or reacted the whole time she was here. But now he wanted her to get out of his room the moment Sienna came in.
Sienna was silent and didn’t say anything. She wasn’t startled nor afraid of Ewan. She just stared at Rachel quietly, her cold gaze telling Rachel to get out.
Rachel glanced at Ewan who was still staying still on the bed, she then glanced at Sienna. She felt like she was an outsider and left the room awkwardly.
When her shoulder brushed past Sienna’s, Sienna said softly to her, “Remember to close the door when you go out.”
Rachel didn’t answer her and quickened her pace to leave the room.
Ewan clenched his fist even more tightly as he realized that the person walking out was Rachel.
He quickly sat up and squinted his blurry eyes at the door. But it was too late, Rachel had closed the door. The expression on his face was now darker than black.
Sienna gazed coldly at Ewan’s disappointed expression.
She said nonchalantly, “Obviously, Rachel would think that you are telling her to get out.”
Ewan took a deep breath slowly. He frowned as he looked at his well-bandaged hand.
He could immediately tell that Rachel didn’t have any first aid training. It was just a small wound, but she bandaged it with layers after layers, his hand looked like a mummy’s hand.
The thick layers wouldn’t be breathable, and it would actually affect the healing of the wound.
Ewan slowly took the bandage apart and asked Sienna indifferently, “What do you need from me?”
“It seemed like Rachel was trying to tell you something when I walked in. I’m sorry for interrupting you guys,” said Sienna coldly, her tone of voice had no warmth.
Ewan continued taking the bandage apart, he then stood up and walked towards the table. He picked up a scissor and cut off a large piece of the gauze, he tied the rest back up as he said, “Why didn’t you leave if you know that you are interrupting us?”
“I have something to talk to you.”
“What?” Ewan answered indifferently, he was not in a good mood.
“There is something suspicious about Rachel’s kidnapping case, I think she is lying to us.”
Ewan was startled. His hands stopped and his eyes became spiritless. He slowly turned his head towards Sienna and said, “That’s all you have to say to me?”
“This is serious.”
“You are just a guest here, there’s no need to poke your nose into business that has nothing to do with you.”
“Do you remember how much of your time and energy she wasted?” Sienna clenched her fist angrily, she was outraged, “I don’t understand what you see in her. She lies all the time and her background unknown, and she has a problematic personality. In this household I’m the only one that is willing to talk to her, she is also extremely notorious…”
“Enough,” yelled Ewan. His fists were clenched tight as he turned around and said to Sienna slowly and clearly, “Don’t talk bad about your friend behind her back, it is not ethical.”
“Friend?” snorted Sienna. She said sarcastically, “She’s the unethical friend. She knew that I was going to get married with you, but she still got in our way.”
Ewan squinted his eyes and there was a hint of danger, he inched closer to Sienna and said in a cold and ghostly low voice, “When was I going to marry you?”
Sienna had nothing to say. She clenched her fist and bit her lips as she stared back at Ewan, her eyes filled with hatred.
Ewan took a deep breath and eased his tone. She saved his life once and hence he was trying to bear her unreasonably troublesome for so many times. He said slowly, “You knew that I had somebody I loved, and you knew that I would absolutely marry her in my lifetime. I promised you that I will marry you only if I didn’t get married before 30 years old. So, before I turn 30, you shouldn’t have high hopes.”
“I know…” Sienna muttered to herself. She briefly opened her mouth and tried to breathe in deeply. Her heart hurt and she couldn’t breathe properly, “I just don’t understand why you choose Rachel over me?”
Ewan was silent.
Sienna didn’t want to admit defeat. Tears welled up in her eyes and she said in a harsher tone, “What do you love about her?”
Ewan smiled bitterly. He sounded even more miserable than Sienna as he said, “It wouldn’t be love if I knew what I loved about her. And that’s the saddest part. I know that she is full of flaws and yet I still love her everything.”
Sienna bit her lips and tears rolled down her cheeks, she clenched her fist so tightly that her nails dug into the palm of her hand. It was on the verge of bleeding.
Ewan raised his hand and stared at the bandage, he muttered, “That idiot doesn’t even know how to bandage a wound properly, but I enjoyed the process of her trying to treat my wound. I’m that pathetic.”
“Ewan, you are crazy,” said Sienna as she gritted her teeth, she was so angry, but she had nothing to vent her anger. Her voice went up a few decibels as she yelled, “You will regret.”
Ewan smiled bitterly again, he looked down and fixed the bandage on his hand. He said softly, “I am filled with regret since 10 years ago, I regret falling in love with Rachel, but there’s nothing I can do about it. No matter how strong a person is, there’s no way to deny what you really want in your heart.”
Sienna wiped her tears with her hand and took a deep breath as she raised her head and stared at the ceiling. She tried to calm down and then she looked at him, she said seriously, “Ewan, I’ll wait for you. I’ll wait until you get tired of Rachel, she is like a colourless book. You are just after her because she doesn’t reciprocate your feelings, but once you have her you will find out that she is a very boring person. Straightforward, easy to read and dull.”
Ewan smiled profoundly, he looked at Sienna and asked, “What do you normally read?”
Sienna was taken aback, she paused for a bit and said, “I like classic literature and poems. I also read foreign classics, I have quite a wide interest.”
Ewan laughed and said nonchalantly, “I don’t like to read. I will probably read storybooks if I need to.”
Sienna was puzzled, her body froze up and she couldn’t move.
Ewan walked past her and said without any emotions, “Don’t wait for me. Even if Rachel wasn’t here, I still wouldn’t like you.”
He left the room after saying that.
Ewan opened the door to Rachel’s room once again. He noticed that Rachel was fast asleep on the bed as he walked in.
The next morning, everyone was sleeping in.
Ewan was extremely tired, but he was lying next to Rachel on the bed, staring at her sleeping face.
He finally managed to fall asleep earlier, but she woke him up and told him a bunch of stuff. He wanted her to continue but now she was fast asleep in her own room.
What kind of misunderstanding was she going to explain to him?
Why was she hiding the truth about the kidnap?
Ewan rubbed his forehead, his temples hurt.
