Chapter 37 A Chance Encounter with Andrew

Book:The Surging Of Love Published:2024-5-1

Rachel got a change of clothes in her room before slinging a backpack and darting downstairs.
After exiting the Hill family villa, a sweet but subtle smile could be seen on Rachel’s face. She was mulling over the various methods of cooking bamboo shoots in her mind while trying to recall Ewan’s preference on bamboo shoots.
In the entire Hill family, she was the only one without a car. Whenever she needed to go somewhere, oftentimes she would hail a taxi or ask the driver of the family to give her a ride.
Rachel emerged from the villa and bypassed an avenue lined with phoenix trees before reaching the roads with bustling traffic.
While standing by the road and waiting patiently for a taxi, sunlight was pouring onto her, warming up her heart.
All of a sudden, a black sedan stopped in front of her, and the windows were all tinted a dark hue. She couldn’t see the driver within.
This black sedan stopped right in front of her, which aroused some suspicion within her. She silently stared at the window by the driver’s side.
After a while, the window didn’t roll down as the car remained stationary. She retraced her steps and stood in a spot slightly behind the sedan to wait for her taxi.
The black sedan made a reverse and was once again stopped in front of her.
Rachel furrowed her eyebrows, and her eyes were shrouded in gloom.
The window was finally rolled down slowly.
The face that presented itself in front of her eyes made Rachel took a step back nervously. She couldn’t help swallowing hard at this sight.
The man seated in the driver’s seat faced Rachel with a devilish smile playing around his lips. His voice was low yet clear, “Beauty, do you still remember me?”
Even if this man had turned into ashes, she would still be able to recognize him. He was none other than Andrew, who had conspired with Leah to bring about her downfall previously.
To this date, she still hadn’t paid back the grudge she was holding against him for whipping her last time. If it were not for Ewan, she seriously doubted she would be able to survive until this day.
She feigned calmness while scanning her surroundings with clenched fists. She assumed that he wouldn’t do anything reckless in broad daylight.
“Miss Rachel, are you waiting for your taxi to come? Do you want me to give you a ride?”
Rachel replied coldly, “No need for that.”
“It must be fate that brings us together. You should get in my car.” Andrew let out a laugh, “I have learnt my lessons, and I won’t do anything to do you again. I was so blind the last time I tried to touch you.”
When he was uttering this, Rachel suddenly thought of something. She asked with a solemn expression, “Who had given you the order to defile me that time?”
“It was a misunderstanding, a total misunderstanding.” Andrew coated his words with sugar, “I was merely captivated by your gorgeous appearance. That was the reason I even had the impulse to do something so despicable to you.”
Rachel couldn’t help but snorted, “You have spread my photos to those models working under you, so it was obvious you’re trying to lure me out. This is all part of your plan. You should stop trying to fool me now.”
“Miss Rachel, you’re really making so bold accusations now. Has Leah, that bitch, told you all of this?” Andrew killed the engine of his car and opened the door to step out of it. Rachel backed off one more step with high alert while focusing her cautious gaze on him.
Andrew closed the car door behind him while continuing with a sincere expression, “You better don’t listen to Leah spouting nonsense. She just wants to put the blame on me by spreading such nonsense. In fact, I was never aware of your existence in the first place, Miss Rachel. It was Leah who had taken the initiative to see me and propose to exchange your body with the champion raking bestowed upon her. I was blinded by lust momentarily, and that was the reason I had ended up doing something so lunatic.”
Rachel continued to back off, her fists clenched so hard that her nails were cutting into her palms. She was gritting her teeth hard as she found it impossible to believe his words, let alone believing Leah.
Birds of a feather always flock together no matter what. They wouldn’t be anywhere close to being kind.
She was taut with alert, and seeing that Andrew was slowly advancing towards her, she issued a warning, “It seems that you couldn’t get enough of Ewan’s torture last time. What else do you want to try now?”
Andrew paused briefly as his expression darkened. Her words successfully frightened him, as a hint of terror entered his eyes.
Rachel took a deep breath while forcing a smile, “Ewan is at home now. Do you want to have a meet up with him?”
Rachel swallowed a few times as his complexion turned noticeably paler. He was immersed in a dilemma at that moment while he finally stopped inching close to Rachel. Instead, he flashed a brilliant smile while replying politely, “If Miss Rachel doesn’t intend to sit in my car, then so be it. I hope you won’t hold on to past grudges anymore, and I look forward to toast you a drink at the celebration banquet next week.”
Rachel didn’t give him any response. She continued to stare at him calmly, while thinking about what kind of plan he had in mind this time, hidden well beneath his hypocritical smile.
At this time, a familiar white luxury car strolled out of the villa.
This car rolled to a stop beside them and Rachel was able to recognize the car. The car window slowly rolled down, revealing Erica’s delicate face with heavy make-up. She knitted her brows as she stared at Rachel and Andrew, “Do you guys know each other?”
Andrew immediately turned around while replying in a polite tone, “Miss Erica, I have met Miss Rachel once previously, and coincidentally I saw her waiting for a taxi just now. I was planning to give her a ride.”
Erica revealed a faint smile as she joked, “Andrew, I think you have your eyes on Rachel, no? I have never seen you being so proactive.”
Andrew simply smiled to acknowledge her.
Rachel was feeling uncomfortable after hearing that. Although he was suave, she felt disgusted by him nonetheless.
Erica then turned to face Rachel and shoot her a question, “Rachel, if you don’t have any boyfriend now, you should consider dating Andrew. He’s the youngest director in our company. A bright future lies ahead of him.”
Rachel suddenly felt nauseated by her words. She managed to prevent herself from vomiting.
Rachel straightforwardly rejected her suggestion without any hesitation, “Thank you for your suggestion, Erica. I won’t consider him.”
Erica shrugged while twitching the corners of her mouth, “Where are you heading to? Let me give you a ride.”
“I will take a taxi by myself. You can go ahead with your day, please don’t bother with me.” Rachel declined her respectfully.
Erica started the engine of her car again while reminding her, “Alright, take care then.”
After that, she stepped on the pedal and she disappeared in the distance.
Andrew was still training his gaze on Rachel as an evil smile was playing around his lips. He carefully retraced his steps while saying, “Miss Rachel, we will meet again.”
Rachel watched Andrew getting into his car and finally leaving. Her jitters finally subsided at this point. She noticed that her palms were sweaty at that moment.
She couldn’t suppress her fears when she came face to face with that man.
Based on what Erica had said earlier on, it seemed that she didn’t know that Rachel and Andrew had known each other. It was highly probable that it was not her who had instructed Andrew to bring harm to Rachel.
She hailed a passing taxi soon after.
With a heavy heart and a messy head, Rachel entered the taxi. She watched the changing scenery through the car window while her thoughts were far away.

It was at nightfall.
Rachel had been scurrying about in the kitchen the whole day, and when it was dinner time, everybody appeared at the dining table except for Ewan.
The table was full of delicious food. Mason couldn’t help teasing her, “Rachel, isn’t this too exaggerated if you’re just doing this to welcome me back? This is akin to a full course. My appetite is aroused right now.”
Rachel displayed a bitter smile as her gaze swept over an empty chair in front of her. She couldn’t help feeling disappointed.
He had demanded bamboo shoots for dinner, yet he was nowhere to be seen at dinner time. Since he was planning to head out in the first place, why didn’t he at least inform her?
She had been busy preparing most of his favourite dishes with full effort, but at this time, she felt like she had been toyed with. It was an unbearable sorrow.
