Rachel smiled coldly and bitterly. She was really speechless.
So ridiculous, why would Rachel have to bear the happiness of Sienna’s whole life?
Rachel felt that whatever she said would have no impact, and Ewan was just troubling her on purpose.
But as for why he did that, she didn’t know and didn’t want to know either.
She didn’t want to say anything against her conscience and didn’t want to be involved in his marriage either. After some thoughts, Rachel stood up and slightly bowed to old master Hill, “Grandpa, I don’t feel well… I want to go home and rest.”
“You may go. Old master Hill knew that it was difficult for her.
Rachel bowed to everyone before leaving her seat.
She turned around and walked out of the north garden.
Ewan’s eyes became cold at the sight of Rachel leaving.
He suddenly stood up and chased her quickly.
He didn’t even greet anyone, making everyone dumbfounded.
“Ewan.”
“Ewan.”
Ewan chased Rachel with big steps, he did not respond to anyone who called him.
Everyone looked at each other in dismay.
It was raining all day and finally the rain stopped at night.
Bauhinia flowers in the garden fell to the ground because of the winter rain.
The whole path was covered with red flower petals, and it was unexpectedly beautiful.
Rachel walked out of the north garden, walking on the garden path with bauhinia petals.
She was not in the mood to admire the magnificent scenery.
Under the street lights, her pace was fast and anxious.
Not long after she walked, suddenly there were sounds of rushing footsteps behind her.
Before she could react, her arm was grabbed by a force that pulled her back in the next second.
Rachel’s body was abruptly dragged and turned. Her arm was hurt because of that grab.
She frowned and looked at the person behind her.
Ewan stood tall in front of her so powerful and dignified.
Rachel didn’t expect him to ask about it again. She looked at his black eyes in disbelief.
Under the yellow dim street light, his facial features were icy cold but still so enchanting.
“Answer me.”
Ewan’s words were so cold like it was an order.
Why would he be so persistent? Why did he like to torture her so much?
“Answer you what?” Rachel weakly asked him back.
Ewan used his strength to pull Rachel closer, their bodies almost stuck to each other. He emphasized each word and said, “Don’t make me ask for the third time.” The third time?
Rachel smiled bitterly, he already asked her twice when in the house. She’s exhausted and didn’t want to be involved in his marriage with Sienna.
Why wouldn’t he let her go?
“Why do you have to ask me? I’m just your sister in name! I’m not your mom, not your future wife, not your elder… I’m nobody…”
Ewan growled in anger, “Answer me.”
Rachel was so scared that her heart stopped beating for a few seconds and her soul nearly flew away.
When she regained her consciousness, her eyes were red and her heart was torn painfully. He’s simply a devil, who didn’t want her to live well.
She held her tears back and coldly said, “Ewan, whoever you marry doesn’t have anything to do with me. I don’t want to be involved, I don’t want to know, and I don’t want to give any opinion either! Just marry anyone you love, that’s your business. Don’t come and bring troubles for me. Just marry Sienna if you want to, do it tomorrow… Just say it if you want me to leave, I absolutely won’t be an eyesore.”
Ewan slowly closed his red eyes and took a deep breath. His big palm that was grabbing her arm suddenly loosened up.
He put his hands into his trouser pockets, facing the night sky.
His heart was beating fast.
Rachel lowered her head to cover the tears in her eyes after saying that.
A piece of red bauhinia petal suddenly fell right on Rachel’s head, sticking on her hair.
The atmosphere was extremely heavy, their breaths became rougher and deeper.
After quite some time.
“I know the murderer.” Ewan changed the topic with his hoarse and deep voice.
Rachel looked up and stared at him abruptly.
Eliza was right! He had known it long ago, but why didn’t he take any action yet?
“Really? Can my mom be released?”
Ewan stretched his hand out to the side of her hair. It was the first time he was so gentle.
He gently removed the petals from her hair, and then handed it to her.
Rachel was dumbfounded because of his action.
She slowly stretched her hand out and took the petal from his hand.
The moment their fingertips touched, Rachel felt like an electric current was running through her sensory nerves.
Ewan’s sudden tenderness was beyond her expectation, something was wrong.
After Rachel took the petal… Ewan spoke in a very slow manner and depressed feelings, “Rachel, the contract you signed will be effective since your mom is released. In the following days, no matter if it’s painful, suffering, torturing, bear it all. There’s no turning back.”
Rachel remembered the paper contract she had signed. His words were so scary that she became flustered.
Rachel swallowed and asked nervously, “Can you tell me, what kind of hell are you pushing me into?”
Hell?
That’s a very appropriate word.
Ewan smiled bitterly and nodded, “Yeah, it is indeed a hell for you and you have no choice.”
“What do you want to make me do?” Rachel clenched her fist in anger.
The more he’s being like that, the more she felt afraid.
He couldn’t be sending her as a gift for another country, right?
Make her go to war? Firepit? Or become a spy?
Ewan looked at the scattered flower petals upon the tree before saying some heartfelt words, “This bauhinia flower was very pretty on the tree. After a winter rain, it is now trampled on the ground. What a pity.”
Rachel looked up at the verdant branch before looking at Ewan again.
She felt at loss, “What do you mean?”
Ewan didn’t answer her question. He passed by her, and it felt distant and cold.
His aura felt like a cold March wind, so cold and freezing.
That night, Ewan indulged himself in drinking alone in the wine cellar.
Rachel couldn’t sleep all night either.
The next morning.
After the rain, the rainbow that appeared in the sky was extremely beautiful.
When Rachel went downstairs, Kate hurriedly came over and grabbed her hands.
She nervously said, “Miss Rachel, Master Ewan is leaving.”
“Where to?” Rachel’s heart trembled a bit, there was a bad feeling.
“I heard that Master is going back to the military region, there are many military cars waiting for him outside. Did Master Ewan not tell you? Do you want to send…”
Before Kate finished speaking, Rachel rushed out of the door.
That news was too abrupt that it caught her unprepared. She clearly knew that his return or departure had nothing to do with her, but her heart kept caring about him.
Very much.
When he was home, they didn’t even eat a meal together nor talk well… There’s not even a chance to talk nicely.
He’s suddenly leaving, why didn’t he stay for a few days longer?
He’s going with Sienna?
Why didn’t he say goodbye to her? Just a simple “bye” would do.
Rachel stood at the doorsteps and looked at those military cars out the steel gate.
Her heart was aching, and tears flooded out in silence.
She covered her mouth. The tears flowed down to her fingers before dripping down.
It turned out that he was really leaving.
People of the Hills family stood outside to see him off.
She was the only one absent there.
For him, she is just an unimportant outsider.
