She took Harold’s arm as if she couldn’t believe what he just said, her voice was so weak, “How… how could you kill her? My… my Torah cannot die! You are lying to me!”
She threw herself on Harold like a crazy dog while she was saying that.
The guards saw what she was up to and came to hold her, so right that she couldn’t move a finger, no matter how hard she tried.
“The last time you came I got so annoyed that I forgot to bring her food, she must have died of hunger.”
He had no choice but to say that, this woman came over and over again to make trouble, he hoped to give her a lesson by telling her this news.
Yasmine paused for a few seconds, her heart was now ice, her daughter… she starved to death?
She thought of that, and all of her blood rushed to her head.
Her baby girl has never suffered a bad day in her life, and in the end she starved to death!
That cannot be…
Yasmine broke down and yelled out, as if she finally understood what was going on, and started to sob.
There was not a single mother on earth who could stay calm after hearing about the death of their child. Ever since she had this daughter, her whole life was only about her. She spoiled her with everything she had.
When he realized that her beloved daughter died of hunger, she wondered what she must have done to deserve this.
Her heart was breaking, she cried of the pain she was feeling.
Harold who has been watching her break down, felt a little guilty, his eyebrows frowned.
This woman should have thought of an ending like this, then it would have never come this far.
He thought that it’s good she was feeling this pain right now, otherwise she will come again in the future.
Harold turned around and went back to the house, he didn’t want to listen to her cries anymore.
He gave his guards a look, who nodded towards Harold. The guard went to Yasmine who has been crying so hard that she couldn’t speak. He took out his cell and dialed a number.
After a while when the call was connected, he handed the cell to Yasmine, who didn’t understand what he was doing, she didn’t take the cell. Her look was full of hate so that the guard was feeling a bit uncomfortable.
He scratched his nose and threw the cell to her, “Pick it up.”
He turned around and walked away from her, he didn’t want to see her like that.
Yasmine didn’t understand what he was doing, and she didn’t have the mood to make any calls right now.
But who was the call from? Maybe it was a message from her daughter?
She resisted the pain in her heart and picked up the cell, she listened quietly.
After a few seconds, she heard the voice of a girl, when she heard it, her whole body went stiff, the blood in her veins started boiling.
She would always recognize this voice, no matter what else she forgot, this voice was so familiar that it was burned into her head, it was the voice of Torah.
The line was not clear, and she couldn’t hear what the voice was saying, but she was certain that it was her.
She didn’t die?
When she realized that, her strength came back, she took the cell with both her hands but they were shaking and it almost fell to the ground.
She opened her mouth and said, “Torah? Torah?”
Torah might not have heard her because there was too much noise in the line.
But Yasmine could hear Torah clearly in the noisy line, she was not feeling well, she could hear that in the weak voice of hers, her body had suffered.
The tears that had finally stopped rolling down her cheeks, started again, she felt so bad for her daughter being held capture, even though she was alive, but she shouldn’t be suffering like this.
If she only could, she would take her place, and suffer for her, to have all the pressure on her instead of Torah, to keep her daughter safe.
She was feeling worries, but she knew now that Torah was alive, that was the best news she could have gotten today.
No matter how she was doing right now, as long as she was alive, there was hope she could see her again.
When she thought of that, she took a deep breath, she dusted off her clothes, stood up straight, cleaned off the tears on her face, her facial muscles still trembling.
She turned around to look at the 20 people she brought here, and got so angry. A bunch of useless men.
There was no need to keep staying here now. She looked at the gate of the Quarrington house.
She understood what Harold was trying to tell her, he wanted her to know that her daughter’s life was in his hands, and she better stop making trouble for him.
She never thought that he was such a person, thank god Torah never got married to him, otherwise she would suffer for the rest of her life.
She put the phone back to where she picked it, and left.
Harold was watching the scene from the window of the second floor, his face still showed no emotion at all.
His assistant asked behind him, “Do you think she understood?”
Harold smirked icy, “If she didn’t, we will just do this once again.”
…
Jenny was recovering quite fast with the help of the care nurse, except for the wound on her arm, she barely had any other symptoms.
Right now, she was carefully trying to take a few steps beside her bed, she hadn’t eaten in two days and her body was weak.
The nurse came with a bowl of porridge to her, “Ms. Andrews, it’s time to eat something.”
Jenny turned to her and saw that it was her favorite porridge with the pickled eggs she liked, her stomach started to make noise too.
“How do you know that I like this?” She reached for the bowl, and took a sip to try.
The care nurse was folding the blanket on her hospital bed and said, “It was Mr. Quarrington who told me!”
The nurse didn’t know what was going on between those two, so she didn’t think it was weird when she mentioned his name.
Jenny paused, she didn’t expect him to remember such a detail.
The nurse noticed Jenny’s pause, turned towards her and asked, “What’s wrong, Ms. Andrews? Are you hurting somewhere?”
“No, I just remembered something.” Jenny lowered her head and continued eating.
“You are so lucky to have a man like Harold, he is so handsome, and so caring towards you. It’s really hard to find someone like him.”
When Jenny heard that, she replied, “He is not my boyfriend.”
“Oh really? The way he was taking care of you made me thing that he was.”
“We are… just friends.”
When she finished her bowl of porridge, she already felt much better, and went back to the bed to rest.
The sky outside has already turned dark, Harold has not come back yet since he left earlier that day. It was probably the company that needed him.
Then her phone rang, it was James calling.
“Jenny, I am about to board the plane, I will be there around eight. As soon as I have landed, I will come to the hospital.”
“So fast?”
“I am worried about you, the moment you sent me the address, I booked a ticket.”
“Actually, I’m fine…”
“That doesn’t matter, I have arranged everything here.”
When Jenny heard him say that, she wanted to convince him not to, but she hasn’t even opened her mouth yet when James said, “I am boarding now, I’ll call you when I get there.”
“Okay.”
Then the call was ended.
