Jenny’s thought turning out nothing, she just nodded helplessly. She got rid of the dust that had fallen on her body, took her schoolbag, and left towards home.
They did not say one more word afterwards to each other. Harold wanted to walk her all the way to the house. Jenny also knew what he wanted, but sometimes after saying something, it does not happen as expected.
The two of them walked silently for a while and came to the doorway of Jenny’s place.
“Thank you, I’m home.”
Jenny went up the stairs, but Harold followed.
Could it be that he wanted to stay in her house tonight?
But she only had one bed at home, how would they sleep?
Jenny turned back and smiled embarrassed at him. He still walked forward without even stopping.
When he reached the door of the house, Jenny opened the door and felt that even if they were just friends, she shouldn’t just ask him to leave like that, that would not be so nice, so she signaled that she wanted to let him in.
Harold escorted her safely to the door of the house, thinking that the woman would quickly rush into the house and reject him, but she just left the door open, and he felt a little joy in his heart.
Jenny thought that they might be doing something awkward if he entered the house, but he just closed the door and left. She looked through the hole in the door, she saw his back disappearing into the corridor, but he held out a hand and waved at her, how did he know that she would look at him?
Jenny sat down and had a rest, rubbing the calf that she just fell on and bumped, James’s phone call came.
Almost every day, James will make a phone call to make sure she arrived home safely. The two chatted about Jenny’s mother’s condition and talked about plans for studying.
Until the end of the call, Jenny didn’t tell him what happened with Harold that night. She felt that she had just happened to meet him, and it was not him who came over to try and get her back to China, so there was no need to tell him to worry him.
They have been separated for a while and when the two met again it would be in this way, she was thinking and couldn’t sleep with the thoughts torturing her.
Harold decided not to let her know when he came here, how would he tell her that he came here specially for her.
Because he knew he wouldn’t say that, and he didn’t want to bother her.
He just wanted to know how she was going now.
Jenny, who was lying in bed and could not sleep, was not as resting as he thought, but she was disturbed by him.
A writer once said, “It is a kind of happiness to meet the right person at the right time. It is a frustration to meet the wrong person at the right time. It is a kind of sadness to meet the right person at the wrong time. And meeting the wrong person at the wrong time is a lifetime sigh.”
At the time, Jenny thought that Harold would be her happiness, but it turned out that the two of them would only hurt each other.
She also hoped that James would be her happiness, but it was simply her hoping because she was really not sure and did not want to determine whether she could settle down and really accept him.
We cannot take any rest in this life, people, and even things, always urge us to continue moving forward.
Even though, the direction has changed but we still hold on to our initial persistence and belief.
Gradually it became clear that we could not change the environment around us, and all we could do was to adapt slowly to where we are now.
At this time, Jenny just wanted to focus on her academics and settle down her mood. Tomorrow, she will continue to fight through on the ocean of academic knowledge, while thinking of that she gradually fell asleep.
The dawn lifted off the veil of night, spread out the splendid morning light, and ushered in a new day.
Jenny was taking five intensive courses in performance direction, screenwriting, casting, photography and editing at the School of Film at the University of Southern California.
This huge amount of classes made it difficult for Jenny, who was already falling short in her academics. Fortunately, James helped her find a tutor. This teacher was a former graduate of the University, but had made it to some small achievements, and was also very familiar with the courses of the University of Southern California.
The University of South Carolina Film Academy basically throws the students into the water at the beginning. You will feel that there is so much content, you will doubt whether you can finish it, and you will feel drowned. But this is how the daily back to back courses allow you to learn something, and you will see your own progress in the next few weeks.
In Jenny’s words, she is constantly struggling not to die in the ocean. Even a little neglect may lead to her being drowned and eventually sink to the bottom of the sea.
Jenny and her classmates practiced in a real recording studio every day, they learned how to shoot, how to edit, how to prompt on the spot, and also have the opportunity to participate in the production of a TV series, from pre-arrangements to confirm the guests, and implement on the spot.
And in performance guidance class, students can learn the whole process of excellent performance with the guidance of a professional actor as their teacher, teaching them step by step.
This teaching method will allow them to integrate the knowledge and skills more quickly, and be more directly involved in the real shooting, learn more comprehensive knowledge, and more convenient to understand their own deficiencies.
Jenny, who has never learned under this method of teaching, was even more surging now, and she was more convinced in the direction she chose.
For the director , filmography same as music, is just a skill.
Every moment is carefully sculpted. You have to look at it with curiosity, capture every moment you feel beautiful, remember it firmly, study it, and restore it.
For documentaries, editing is like screenwriting, and for dramas, editing is like rewriting.
These words Jenny has remembered in her mind, and use it in life and learning every time to rethink the meaning of it.
The rest of the courses are discussion classes.
The teacher in the class will first guide the direction of everyone’s research, and then enter the free discussion round. Everyone will start a group discussion of their ideas and suggestions.
The biggest challenge for Jenny comes from writing a script.
The monthly script assignment, Jenny found it very tormenting and painful, and her confidence was deeply hit.
The trick in writing a script is to read more and write more.
It is nothing more than reading scripts and reading novels. In the library of the University of Southern California is a large collection of scripts. After reading more than 100 movie scripts, carefully analyzing a couple of them, you have basically mastered many tricks and skills in writing dramas.
The second is to read drama scripts. There are about 500 kinds of important dramas all over the world. If you understand 100 of them, you have basically mastered the biggest part, the novels on the other hand, there are tens and thousands of varieties.
Another one was to watch movies, TV series, to watch it in detail, watch it one by one repeatedly, and study the problems you are about to face, rather than running away from the problem.
Studying directory also included long-term homework, one of them are various graphs.
There are scene schedules, day and night schedules, interior and exterior schedules, they had to compare and ponder on them over and over again.
A short film of one and a half hours, half of which are night time acting, would that be suitable?
