Chapter 39 Not Giving up

Book:The Secret Surrogate Lover Published:2024-5-1

Patricia wanted her daughter to stay with her, but she knew this was Jenny’s dream, and she knew she shouldn’t stand between her and her dreams, especially since Jenny gave them up because of her.
“Really, Mom? When I get there, I am gonna do my best to get everything back that I threw away before, and when I am back here, I will be able to take care of you, and I will take you and we leave this place.”
Patricia was happy just by seeing her daughter happy. Before Jenny left, Patricia held her hand, and told her to take care of herself.
“When you get there, be careful alright? When it gets cold, you’ll need to add some clothes, don’t get sick.” Patricia said, her eyes getting red.
“I know, Mom. And you need to cooperate with the doctors, when I get back, I want to see you all well again.”
“I will do my best. Oh, there is another thing. James really loves you, I think you should consider him. But it’s your decision, I just hope you will find someone who will take good care of you.”
“Mom, I know, I have already thought about it all. Take your medicine on time, when I am not here anymore you can call James if you need anything.” Jenny was only worried about her mother’s health. When she has said everything, she got up to leave the room, she turned around by the door and saw her mom wipe the tears on her face. Jenny watched her for a few seconds before she left for good.
Jenny and James were walking towards the streets, and stood under a tree that only had its stem left.
“James, I want to take a walk at some place.”
“Okay, I will go with you.”
Sometimes people are so stubborn, what clearly could be done naturally, they have to find a way do so it themselves. Jenny wanted to see Harold before going abroad, aside from what happened before, they seemed to have no reason to ever meet again, she just wanted to say goodbye.
Unconsciously, they walked to the door of the Quarrington house and stared at the light inside.
It wasn’t until someone behind her patted her shoulder for her to notice that James was still around.
“It’s getting cold, let’s go back.” He looked at the way Jenny was staring at the house, and felt as if thousand needles were poking his heart. Apparently, there will always be things he couldn’t get, no matter how hard he tried. Apparently, no matter how much he sacrificed, she will always have someone else in her heart.
James felt so helpless in that moment.
And Jenny decided to leave for America as soon as possible.

Early in the morning, James prepared a suitcase full of her luggage for Jenny, ready to take her to the airport.
When they arrived at the airport, due to the weather and haze, the flight was delayed. Jenny had to wait for the plane to arrive.
She took out her mobile phone and sent a text message to a strange number. “I will not give up my dream, thank you for your support.”
Jenny did not know that on the other end of the line would be Harold. When Harold received the text message, he felt a trace of warmth in his heart. When he decided to walk away in peace, he was deeply entangled. But seeing his beloved woman want to escape from him, he felt so painful over and over again.
Harold felt that he could no longer selfishly imprison her by his side. Maybe… letting her go, is the best decision? It is true love to make people you love happy.
Since Jenny was not happy around him, letting her go and letting her pursue the happiness she really wants, is the best choice. This is the best way Harold came up with over and over again after losing her. Perhaps it’s better than having her resent her by her side.
It wasn’t until 12pm that the plane was finally able to take off. It was already afternoon in Los Angeles, USA, when they arrived.
Jenny wore a camel colored coat with a white long sweater and walked out of the airport refreshed. She took at deep breath in and out, this… is gonna be her new life!
As soon as she walked out of the airport, she was suddenly hugged by a pair of strong big arms from behind. Jenny was startled instantly, almost screamed out lout, when James covered her mouth.
The moment she felt the hug around herself, Jenny thought that she has so many enemies, that some of them even followed her all the way to America. Jenny looked back but it turned out to be James, and she was looking at him in surprise. She turned towards him and asked confused, “Aren’t you supposed to be at home now, how come you came to the United States, were you in the same flight?”
“No, I am not at home, but I am here in front of you, and you are right, we were in the same plane.” After James finished talking, he pulled up the box and walked in front, leaving Jenny alone full of doubts.
“Why are you here?” Jenny asked after catching up with him.
“Why? You don’t want me to be?”
“No, I just want to know why you didn’t just tell me you wanted to come together?” Jenny hesitated before speaking out
“I just can’t stop worrying about you. I came over to accompany you and help you to settle down and later I will take the night flight to get back again.”
“Thank you, it’s so troublesome for you.”
“I thought we had agreed, don’t say thank you.” James looked at her pretending to be angry.
Jenny made gesture to lock her mouth and followed him out of the airport.
James took her to a residential area not far from the urban space. Most of the residents living here are from China. James was afraid that she would have a hard time to get used to a new place, so he asked someone to arrange everything in advance.
Jenny arrived at the residence and looked at everything in front of her, a warmly decorated home, she again wanted to thank James, but was stopped by him who saw her what she was up to.
Jenny smiled and prepared to start unpacking and tidying up. She wanted to start cleaning the house first, but James looked at her hands that were red due to the coldness, and started to worry about her again. He stopped her and asked her to warm her hands up first, then he made a phone call and called a staff, and told her where she needed to clean up, After that he went out with Jenny.
Outside the house, James stopped a taxi. He opened the door and gestured for Jenny to sit in.
“Where are we going?
“Aren’t you hungry? It’s already this late, of course I’m taking you to dinner.”
Jenny had already been hungry while waiting for the plane when she was still in China, but being hungry for so long, she had no feeling at all anymore. After hearing him mention it, she remembered that she had not eaten. After all, it has been six or seven hours since she has left home.
“I’m so hungry that I almost forgot there was something called eating, so where do we go?” Jenny asked him.
James got into the car. Suddenly, he seemed to notice something. He turned to look at Jenny and saw that she had not fastened the seat belt. So, he leaned over and pressed himself on Jenny’s body. She was startled by his sudden movements, and dodged backwards, with a nervous expression on her face.
