Kara could not tell what Jadon was thinking, so she did not waste her time on him anymore. She shook his arm off and turned to the classroom.
Though Jadon meant well by taking her to see his friends, those people forced her to drink. He just sat at the side and smiled. Occasionally, he would speak up for her, but he did nothing to stop them. He wasn’t serious about helping her out at all.
So, Kara felt that he wasn’t her friend and wanted to keep a distance from him.
But the reality always went sideways. He was in charge of today’s training courses.
Every time she met his eyes, she would think of that piece of jade of his, making her distracted.
Out of sight, out of mind. She simply lowered her head and drew.
“Kara, why do you keep your head down?” Jadon propped his arms on the podium and smiled gently.
Noticing his expression, the other students looked at Kara curiously.
Jadon was indifferent to the others, but he was so gentle to Kara. Something was going on between those two.
Kara came back to her senses and looked up at him. She used her arms to block her painting and forced a smile.
“I was thinking about a technique that you just taught.”
“What have you got?” Jadon seemed to be very interested in continuing the conversation with her.
Kara scratched the back of her head and felt a little helpless. “Mr. Jadon, I’m stupid. I haven’t figured it out yet.”
Jadon was speechless.
He thought, ‘Is being stupid an honorable thing? I can’t believe she just said it in front of everyone.
What a fool.’
Jadon sneered silently, and a look of disdain flashed across his eyes, but he still stood up straight with a gentle expression on his face. He walked gracefully towards her, wanting to see what she had just drawn.
Kara realized what he wanted to do. She closed her painting book and smiled at him innocently.
“Mr. Jadon, I will pay more attention to the classes.”
“Let me see what you have come up with.” Jadon ignored her and reached out.
Kara secretly gritted her teeth. She could do nothing but open the painting book, and he saw a handsome face.
Jadon picked up the painting and looked at Kara again. “The outline of the face is good, but the contrast of darkness is too strong.
“Kara, it’s not good for you to think of another man while in my class.”
Though it sounded like Jadon was teasing, there was also a bit of anger in his tone, as if he and Kara were involved to some extent.
Kara frowned when she saw that others were staring at her strangely. She wanted to snatch the painting book from him, but he dodged.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Jadon. I will definitely pay more attention. I won’t get distracted.”
“No, you should say that you will pay attention to me. I wouldn’t mind if you draw a portrait of me.”
The corners of Jadon’s lips curled up. He chuckled and handed the painting book to her.
“Mr. Jadon, I assume that you have a crush on Kara and want her to be your girlfriend, right?” Kendra smiled and asked.
Jadon turned to glance at Kendra, and when he thought that she and Kara were sworn enemies, he smiled. He looked so righteous.
“Yes. Kara is so cute. Naturally, I’m attracted to her.”
“Really? Be his girlfriend! Be his girlfriend, Kara!” A few boys aside chimed in.
Kara bit her lower lip. She didn’t expect Jadon to make such a silly joke. She frowned gloomily and was embarrassed when she heard the others’ teasing.
“Quiet, everyone. Mr. Jadon has a crush on Kara, but he might get disappointed. I think Kara likes Teacher Donald more. She and Teacher Donald are living together.”
Kendra knew it the first day Kara moved into Donald’s apartment. Kendra was resentful and always wanted to find a chance to teach Kara a lesson.
Finally, the opportunity came up to her today. She wouldn’t let it slide whatsoever.
“Kara, that’s something!”
The others were surprised. They did not expect that Kara would have that kind of relationship with Donald.
“Kara is young and didn’t go to college. And she has never attended any training courses about drawing. I am quite curious about how she won second place in this competition.”
As soon as Kendra said this, the classroom suddenly became quiet. Everyone stared at Kara with complicated gazes.
If Kendra’s words were true, Kara was indeed capable, since she could hook up with Donald and attract Jadon. Therefore, there was a huge possibility that Kara used some despicable means to get the prize.
The ranking was an honor.
By shamelessly snatching the second place, Kara stole someone else’s honor. Those feeling bitter hated her guts.
Kara realized what Kendra was trying to pull off and actually chuckled due to anger.
Kendra was good at calling white black.
Kara smiled stunningly and her big eyes blinked in confusion.
She said, “Miss Kendra, what you said is the truth. I do live in the same apartment with Mr. Donald at the moment, but he lives upstairs and I live downstairs.
“My mother used to be a student of Master Larry, and she was Mr. Donald’s senior. I learned from my mother since I was a child, and I have won many domestic awards ever since a long time ago.
“Also, I have to make one thing clear. Just because I’m young and didn’t go to college doesn’t mean you can look down upon me.
“Universities are about quality education and common knowledge, and I draw with my brain.
“That’s right. I’m sorry. It’s quite hard for me to talk to dumbasses. Miss Kendra, I wonder if you follow me.”
How could Kendra endure being called dumb by Kara in public?
Kendra slapped her hand on the table and jumped to her feet.
“Kara, don’t think that you can be arrogant just because someone is protecting you.”
Kara was calm and collected, and there was a faint smile on her face. It seemed that she was looking at a puppy that was flipping out.
“So, this is how arrogance looks like. Thank you, Miss Kendra, for telling me this.
“But I can afford to be arrogant anyway. Why shouldn’t I be arrogant?”
Putting the competition aside, Kara wouldn’t spare those who wanted to pick on her.
Kendra hated Kara. Anything that Kara did, in Kendra’s eyes, was wrong. Since that, Kara might as well throw caution to the winds and act at will.
“You amuse me. What do you have to be so arrogant? Your body?” Kendra laughed mockingly.
When the men present heard Kendra’s words, they all looked at Kara, as if they were going to strip her clothes and see her naked.
Kara clenched her fists and glanced at Jadon from the corner of her eyes. Jadon was standing on the podium and flipping through a book, as if it was none of his business.
Kara took a few deep breaths. Sure enough, men were unreliable.
“Miss Kendra, you are so superficial. I am more than that.
“I can afford to be arrogant because of my intelligence, of course. Otherwise, how could I stand out and come in second?”
Kendra gritted her teeth. She wanted to strangle Kara!
“Your intelligence? Then do you dare to compete with me?”
Kendra thought, ‘She said she was smart?
I’m interested in knowing how smart she is!’
Kara looked at Kendra with a bit of hesitation. Noticing that, Kendra thought Kara got cold feet. Kendra raised her chin proudly.
“You’re afraid, aren’t you? Just admit it. You sold your body for the prize!”
A loud sound came.
Kara slammed a book on the table, her face livid.
She didn’t mind quarreling with Kendra, but Kendra’s insult was too much!
People were all shocked. Kara was petite, yet she had a short temper, which was surprising.
