The awards ceremony would be held on the second day. Kara changed into her gown and had a stylist do her style.
She was about to set off when Donald walked up to her with a smile and handed her a silver watch inlaid with diamonds.
Kara stared at him in shock and held her wrist. She didn’t dare to take it.
“Donald, it’s too expensive!”
“I picked it up by the roadside. Since you don’t have any jewelry, I’ll lend it to you.”
James gave the watch to Donald. To him, it was no different from picking it up on the road.
Kara didn’t know what to say.
How could he pick up such an expensive watch on a road? Which road did he take?
The corner of Kara’s mouth twitched. She thought about returning it to Donald after the ceremony, so she accepted it.
She held Donald’s arm and entered the venue. She was excited to see that the people here were all ones that she could only see in textbooks.
And for this competition, the organizer also held a charity. They would donate the money they got from selling the works present.
Kara looked at the big screen displaying thousands of works, and she was dazzled.
“Kara, come here. I’ll tell a secret to you. You won the award because the judges knew that it was my recommendation.” Donald whispered.
Kara opened her eyes wide and stared at him without blinking with doubt.
“You really believe it?” Donald pursed his lips and held back his laughter.
“Donald, stop teasing me. I’m so nervous.” Kara didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
“You fool, you are talented. With the guidance of Larry and me, it will be embarrassing if you don’t win the award.” Donald noticed that Kara was nervous and joked to let her relax.
“I was surprised to know that I have won the reward. I think Jamya’s work isn’t bad. Why didn’t she win the award?” Kara was puzzled.
“I’ve seen her work. Her work is no worse than award-winning works in terms of color and drawing techniques. So her work did not win the award, but it does not mean that her work is bad. There are many factors in this.”
Kara nodded without full understanding, but she felt sorry for Jamya now that she joined the competition with her.
“Kara, I have seen your work and it is unique. The color you used gave the painting a soul. Your talent is rarely seen.”
Jadon came over and greeted Kara with a smile.
Being praised by her idol, Kara was a little embarrassed and blushed, not knowing what to say.
“Jadon, do you find working in the studio comfortable?”
Donald took a step forward and stood in front of Kara.
Kara noticed Donald’s actions and felt confused, but she took a step back.
Although she liked her idol very much, in her heart, she trusted Donald more.
“The environment of the studio is good, and the students are outstanding.” Jadon smiled and nodded. He tilted his head to look at Kara, wanting to take a step closer to her.
“Kara, why don’t we go over there and take a look? I’ll take you to learn something.”
“Sure.”
Hearing that she could learn, Kara was intrigued. Just as she moved, she was pulled by Donald. She looked up in surprise.
“I’m coming with you. I also want to listen to professor Jadon’s lecture.”
Donald wore a polite smile on his face as he walked between her and Jadon, separating them.
Jadon felt Donald’s wariness and gritted his teeth, feeling depressed.
Why was Donald everywhere? How annoying!
“Donald, I admire your achievements. I don’t dare to be your teacher. Please don’t call me a professor to embarrass me.”
After Donald finished his postgraduate studies and was studying at a famous university for a doctor’s degree, he suddenly changed his major to arts. As a student with a high education level, he achieved extraordinary results in just a few years under the tutelage of a master.
Although Jadon was a genius painter and had a soaring career at such a young age, compared to Donald, his position in the industry was slightly inferior.
“Mr. Jadon, you are being modest. Larry is my teacher. Since you are the teacher invited by Larry, so you are also my teacher.”
When Donald spoke, his tone was filled with “polite alienation”.
The corners of Jadon’s mouth twitched. He wanted to talk to Kara several times, but Donald always started a new topic. Jadon was so depressed that he wanted to kick this eyesore away.
Soon, the ceremony began.
The ceremony lasted for two hours. The winners’ names were announced at the end. Kara was yawning from waiting. She held her phone and sent a WeChat message to James.
After waiting for a long time, there was still no response. Kara gloomily grabbed her phone and felt like getting angry, but she couldn’t vent it out.
She gritted her teeth and sent another message.
“James, you’ve been avoiding me. If you can, don’t contact me again!”
She put the phone back into her bag angrily. Looking up, she noticed Jadon’s gaze and blinked.
“What’s wrong?”
“You are angry. What’s wrong?” Jadon asked out of curiosity.
“I’m not. I haven’t had dinner yet. I just remembered that I didn’t bring the three packs of snacks with me. I miss them.” Kara said with a look of pity.
Jadon was speechless.
Jadon raised his eyebrows. It was only three bags of snacks, why did she overreact?
She was as gluttonous as a child. What exactly did James like about her?
He couldn’t figure it out and scanned her face again. He had to admit that Kara was beautiful.
Her facial features were exquisite, especially her unique amber eyes.
However, that was all. There were no other things good about her.
James would take a fancy to a woman not just because of her face. Then, why could this girl become his wife?
“Kara, the host will call you on stage to receive the award later. You must say that you are a member of Larry’s studio to promote the studio, understand?” Donald suddenly reminded.
Kara was rendered speechless.
Kara was stunned and felt that what he said was right, but she was afraid that she would be too nervous to speak fluently after going on stage.
Soon, the host called Kara’s name and simply introduced her to everyone.
“The next winner is extraordinary. She is the youngest competitor, and when she completed her work, she was only seventeen years old. However, with her talent in using color, all judges were convinced.”
“Let’s welcome Miss Kara Quain. Miss Kara, please come to the stage.
On the screen, the camera was aimed at Kara’s face. She bit her lower lip shyly and nervously tugged at her clothes.
Arriving at the steps of the stage, she took a deep breath and changed into an elegant posture.
“Mr. James, Mr. Corey is here.”
James was staring at the screen. When he saw Kara on stage, he heard Nolan’s words and ignored him.
Nolan stretched out his head and took a look. It was Kara’s turn to take the reward. He touched his nose, led Corey over, and went to make a cup of tea for him.
Corey saw James staring at the screen in a daze and knew that he missed Kara, so he did not argue with him.
“I looked into it. It was the sponsor who requested for the award ceremony to be held in B City. Kara won the second prize without a good reason. I wonder what those people meant.”
James glanced up at him. Because he was in a good mood, he replied to Corey.
“Their works are far from my wife’s. She didn’t win the first prize because the judges are amateur.”
Corey and Nolan didn’t know what to say.
The corners of Corey and Nolan’s mouths twitched, and they were lost for words.
