Jessica was so interested in Hurley’s family business to a point that she felt agonizing, and she complained about it with a grudging look every day, “You and I are married, but I don’t even know what’s going on in your family.”
Right after she said that she could felt that something was wrong.
By the way, she was the one who promised Hurley’s propose while hot-headed when he had done so with a diamond ring. And the next thing she knew was nurturing a newborn baby in her belly.
They supposed to be a married couple, yet they didn’t register nor had a wedding ceremony. It seemed that she was his mistress.
“The look on your face is so weird, what are you thinking?” Hurley frowned and set aside the documents in his hands. He saw her frowned deeply and reached out to hold her face, “I find your ability to jump to your own conclusions is particularly impressive.”
Jessica was proud about it shamelessly, “I’m just smart.”
“What do you want to know?”
“Since you’re so handsome, your parents must be gorgeous as well, I like pretty people especially.”
“Actually, you’ve met them.”
“Oh?”
“Have you watch the news?” Hurley’s said flatly, “The one who often gives important talks is my old man, and the lady who often accompanies him to visit abroad is my mother.”
Jessica now knew that he was a genuine merchant prince.
“They are conducting an overseas visit, let me take you home to meet my grandfather.” Hurley had thought thoroughly before he proposed, “He is a tough nut, consider that you might not like him, and therefore I keep delay in taking you to see him.”
Jessica thought to herself that it should be the other way around.
“Don’t have a bee in your bonnet, he must be fond of you,” he said while he touched her chin. “He likes pretty girls a lot, he says they make him feels younger
Jessica doubted about it.
Hurley shrugged his shoulders and sighed again, “Well, it seems that I can’t hide it from you. He doesn’t quite like me.”
Jessica couldn’t help but roasted in her mind that how come he thought he had failed to keep his secrets when he had been keeping her in the dark successfully.
“If I’m not mistaken, why would your grandfather dislike you when you’re the only family that he has left?”
Hurley replied as if it was nothing, “The old man has a rather odd temper, I guess.”
She still had her doubts about this, since from what Hurley told her moments ago, the grandpa seeded to be a nice guy. And, Hurley was rather suspicious.
Jessica spent years with Hurley and enough to know that he wasn’t an easy person to get along with.
“I can tell from your look that you seem to be bad-mouthing me in your heart.” Hurley stared at her as if he could see her through, and had everything under control.
Jessica squeezed a smile, “How so? In my opinion, you’re the best person in the world, there’s nothing bad about you at all.”
He wasn’t convinced, nit-picking expressionlessly. “That’s because you’ve met too few people.”
Jessica knew that this was the time for her to demonstrate loyalty, and therefore she replied without hesitation, “Even if I met all the people in the world, I would still believe that you’re the best.”
Hurley looked at her in a way that as if saying her skills in boot-licking had been increasingly advanced.
Jessica smiled back at him slightly embarrassedly.
“Tell me, what good qualities do I have?” Mr Herring asked unrelentingly.
“Ouch, my stomach hurts.”
Jessica faked a painful voice, and Hurley hurriedly carried her to bed to lie down.
