Supervisor Tailor quicken her steps and followed Zack out. Nancy sighed in relief, at least she can relax for a moment.
Very soon, a previously stern Supervisor Tailor now happily entered the office. Her face was glowing in joy. Her attitude towards Nancy changed immediately. She walked to Nancy’s side, smiling from ear-to-ear said, “Nancy dear, just ask me if you have any questions. I’ve seen your report and analysis and there are only two minor areas that require some amendments. Not a big deal. Come over later and I’ll show you.”
Nancy felt that Supervisor Tailor smiled like an old maid. Goosebumps came all over her. She wondered what did Zack say to her to make her attitude change so drastically. This is too frightening.
Nancy nodded obediently. Supervisor happily returned to her desk.
Nancy was puzzled and at that very moment, her cell phone vibrated.
It was a message from an unknown number – “Noon, lunch at 22nd floor.”
Is this Zack? Nancy wondered in surprise.
“Are you Zack? How did you get my cell phone number?”
Zack saw her send over that silly question. He was just praising her and now it’s ruined by that stupid question.
“Of course. There are only things that I choose not to know. Nothing escapes me.”
Nancy was surprised at such an arrogant answer. But it made her blush and heart race.
She saved the number at once and named it “My Sassy Hunk”.
She had a great time for the entire morning. The sweetness she felt was like she had just fallen into a bath of honey.
As the time crept closer to lunch, Mandy slipped into her office. She saw Nancy in a daze and started to ask, “Why are you smiling like a fool?”
Nancy continued to smile as she whispered into her ears, “I’ll tell you later.”
Mandy pursed her lips and glared at her. Nancy remembered her lunch appointment with Zack on the 22nd floor and immediately corrected herself. “I’m busy, tell you some other time.”
She smiled even more as she said this. Mandy couldn’t resist it anymore, “Out with it, what do you have on during lunch? Nancy, are you starting to keep things from me?”
Nancy looked at the time and it was 12 o’clock. She dragged Mandy out of the office, “Zack asked me to join him for lunch at 22nd floor.” Nancy whispered into Mandy’s ears.
Sure enough, Mandy exploded, “Wow, Nancy! I didn’t expect you to get Zack so quickly without telling me! Why did you keep this from me? And this morning I thought that I made a mistake, I didn’t think that you came to work together. Don’t tell me that you already…”
Nancy raised her palms to her face and said, “Already what? It’s not what you think. We’re just friends.”
After she finished, Nancy felt as if she is guilty of something. Friends? Which friends kiss? Since they’ve kissed, doesn’t that make them a couple?
Mandy saw through her guilt and scoffed, “Humph, you don’t even believe your own words. This morning I heard with my own ears that Zack had instructed Supervisor Tailor to take care of you and not make things difficult for you. He even gave her a raise of three hundred dollars!”
There was finally an explanation for what happened this morning. Zack was afraid that Supervisor Tailor would victimize Nancy and gave her a raise. This isn’t something normal friends will do. A raise of three hundred is not a small amount.
Feeling the burden, Nancy said, “Okay, I got it. I’m going to the 22nd floor now. I’ll tell you the details tonight.”
She dashed upstairs. Mandy, on seeing her disappear, sighed, “What kind of friend she is!”
As the saying goes, the walls have ears, what she said was heard by someone nearby. He laughed, “Who dares to offend Ms. Mandy Woods? It’s not good for a lady to be angry all the time.” Said Hale Brown.
