Nancy hurried to Zack’s side, she was riding a motorbike. Of course, it was nothing compared to Zack’s bike in real life. Actually, Nancy checked the value of Zack’s motorbike and it costs almost as much as a basic entry Mercedes Benz.
Zack jumped onto the bike, “Babe, let’s roll!”
Nancy selected the next waypoint and off they went. Although she hasn’t received her driving license in real life, she drove like a pro in the game. But suddenly the bike went off a steep slope and started to tumble.
Both Zack and Nancy fell off the bike and Nancy laughingly said, “Hahaha… this bike has a mind of its own!” Zack laughed uncontrollably along with her.
At this moment, Zack’s door opened and Hale fell onto the floor. Following closely behind was Mr. and Mrs. Allen. Under this commotion, Zack’s laughter stopped and Nancy was puzzled as to what had happened on that end.
Zack’s mother walked over Hale directly towards him, with a plate of fruits in hand and an awkward smile, said, “Honey, what’s going on?”
Unfortunately, Nancy heard this and her heart sank as her smile creased.
That sweet voice must have come from a cute girl, she thought as she felt a dagger pierce straight into her heart. She was dumbfounded. Zack instantaneously went offline. She found herself stunned and choked.
As Zack saw the 3-men wrecking team burst into his room, his face turned pale. In his panic, he instinctively pulled the connection to the mic but he accidentally pulled the internet connection instead. Three of them looked at him waiting for an answer. Zack was a man of few words, unlike his elder brother. It was unlike him to have that kind of conversation with anyone, much less with a girl.
“Mom, Dad! How can you do something only Hale would do? Eavesdrop on me? How could you?” Zack crossed his arms in objection, glaring at the trio. His parents smiled unapologetically and left the room while Hale was laying on the ground with his head propped up by his right hand, laughed sarcastically, “You bet it’s fun! BABE!”
Furious with Hale, Zack threw a pillow at him. “Get out of here! Otherwise, I’ll tell mom and dad what you’ve been up to! I have spies reporting on you to me!”
Hale, sprang to his feet, apologized in defeat said, “Okay, my bad, my bad. I’ll scram.” He left the room as soon as he finished.
“Close the door behind you!” Zack shouted as he reconnects the internet cable. The two characters in the game remained lifeless waiting for the connection to be re-established.
Zack quickly put on the headset and gently asked Nancy, “Babe, you there?” But there wasn’t a reply.
In fact, when Nancy saw Zack go offline, she wanted to ram the bike into him. But she held back because she knew that it wasn’t right, perhaps it was due to a bad connection. So, she threw a smoke grenade to provide some cover from the opponents while he sorts out his connection.
Soon the game scene refreshed and Zack saw that he was covered in smoke. He tried again, “Babe, you there?” There was no response.
Just when Zack was about to apologize to her, Nancy’s voice came over the headset, “Get on the bike, a world of hurt is coming.”
