When Corey arrived at the SA Group, James had a morning meeting.
James drank a cup of water and listened to Nolan’s report. James’ long fingers tapped the table.
James said, “Invite him to the meeting room.”
For some reason, James felt that Corey had come with ill intentions, and he was inexplicably agitated.
It was very disadvantageous to negotiate with people with emotions.
James took out his phone, glanced at Kara’s schedule, and then dialed her number.
“Hello, James.”
Hearing Kara softly calling his name, James immediately calmed down.
“We haven’t seen each other for only three hours. Don’t tell me you miss me?”
Kara’s tone was a bit arrogant.
“What are you doing?”
“I just came out of the library. I am going dancing with my roommate and then going to class.” Her schedule was full.
“Didn’t you say that your waist hurts this morning? Be careful when you dance.”
James would not restrict her from participating in some social activities. Instead, he hoped that her life would be more exciting.
If Kara was happy, his mood wouldn’t be too bad.
When Kara heard him mention that, her cheeks turned red and she angrily accused him.
“James, it’s all because of you. I told you last night not to do it, but you still… It’s all your fault.”
James said, “Well, someone enjoyed it.”
Kara was speechless.
Kara covered her face, not wanting to talk about this topic with him.
James said, “Be good. If you are not willing to call me, just send me a WeChat message. I will listen to it.”
James knew that she would not take the initiative to call and would only send WeChat messages. However, he did not use WeChat much and barely opened it once a day.
“Okay, I’ll record a video later and give you some benefits. Do you want it?”
James held back his laughter and his mood improved a little.
“Yes.”
“Then you should treat me to something.”
James thought, ‘Little foodie, everything is an excuse to get food.’
James was worried that others would not be able to coax her away with some food.
“Are the snacks in your bag not enough?”
“Well, they are enough, but I just want to eat with you.”
Kara laughed in a silly manner.
James raised his eyebrows. He was just worried that she would be hungry. He asked Libby to put two pieces of dessert in her bag. There were some small biscuits, two apples, and a small box of washed fruits. But she could eat them all.
James thought, ‘Am I raising a pig?’
After hanging up the phone, James didn’t stop smiling. He got up and went to the meeting room.
Corey was drinking coffee. When he saw James, he slowly pushed the documents in front of him.
Corey said, “This is a cooperation proposal. I have signed it.”
In business, there were plenty of weak and powerful people who would fight each other.
However, smart businessmen would know how to avoid the fight and choose to cooperate to make use of the advantages of each other.
The Citi Group was a rising star. It mainly did cosmetics. It had been operating abroad for many years and had just entered the country. So people did not understand it very well.
The SA Group was a renowned company. It had reputation and strength. The two of them working together could be considered mutually benefiting. It was a win-win situation.
James naturally understood these principles.
In terms of personal emotions and the interests of the company, James definitely placed the company’s interests first.
James carefully flipped through the documents. The requests were all reasonable.
However, the proposal was too reasonable. James felt that there was a trap.
There was no need for the president to personally make a move on getting into the market. And when Corey came, he did not bring his assistant or the department that was in charge of this matter. It was definitely not that simple if he had come alone.
James checked the documents and found nothing unusual. He turned to the place where the last page was signed and picked up the pen.
When James was about to write, he thought about it again and put down the pen.
James said, “You said that you are my wife’s uncle. What proof do you have?”
Corey was not surprised that he would ask a question. He put down his coffee and leaned lazily against the seat.
Because Corey wore black glasses, James couldn’t understand or see through him.
Corey said, “I have the same last name as her mother.”
James sneered. He knew that Corey was deliberately hiding the truth.
James said, “Then, what is your purpose for coming here?”
James did not beat around the bush and asked directly.
Corey looked at his impatient expression and could not help but put on a faint smile.
James was considered experienced and ruthless in the business, but in front of Corey, James was still a bit inexperienced and too brave.
To put it simply, James was too aggressive.
Corey said, “Mr. James, you seem to be hostile to me.”
James also smiled politely. How could he not understand the rules of the business world?
The biggest taboo was to be impatient.
But Corey wanted to take away the woman James loved the most. He was already being polite by calmly sitting here and discussing business with him.
James, “I’m not hostile, but before you want to take my wife away, I will kill you!”
James said the last four words calmly, but his brown eyes were filled with hostility.
Corey was still calm. He played with the thumb ring on his thumb and raised his eyebrows slightly.
It could be seen that James cared about Kara.
And for someone like him, once James had someone he cared about, that would be his fatal weakness!
Corey said, “Speaking of that, Mr. James, you have to call me uncle too.”
James mocked, “Before Kara admits you, don’t even think about it!”
Corey shook his finger and took out a photo.
Corey explained, “This photo was the four of us, taken when I was celebrating my birthday. The boy standing on the left is me. The girl with dimples in front of me is your mother and my sister.”
“Four siblings?”
James narrowed his cold eyes and thought about his words in his mind.
‘Is he saying Veronica and Vivian, my mother, are sisters?
How is that possible?’
James said, “If this is the reason for Kara to leave me, do you think I will believe it?”
“I know you won’t believe it.”
Corey put on a faint smile as he slowly explained.
Corey said, “The children of the Abbot family all have a special ring. Mine is a thumb ring, and your mother’s is a normal ring. Her name is engraved on the back of the ring.
“If you don’t believe me, you can ask Kara if her mother also has a special ring.”
In Vivian’s relics, there was a special ring with her name carved behind it. She had always wondered about the origin of this ring.
James said, “You came here to say these things to me because you want me to call you uncle?”
James tried to control his emotions.
Corey couldn’t help but praise James in his mind as he listened to James’ cold and fierce questioning.
If Vivian was still alive, she would never have thought that her child would have such a strong character and those with less courage would definitely be scared to tears by James.
Corey said, “That was just one of them, and there’s another thing.”
Corey took out a small bag and pushed it in front of James.
James glanced at him. He did not directly look at what was inside.
James said, “What tricks are you trying to play now?”
Corey explained seriously, “I have already revealed my identity. Whether you admit it or not is your freedom, but don’t try to think that I have malicious intent.”
James did not think much of it. There was no doubt that Corey had wanted to take Kara away.
James said, “I don’t need to think that.
“Didn’t you come here to tell me all these because you still want me to let you take Kara away?
“Don’t even think about it!”
