Chapter 362 Emily’s Bargaining Chips

Book:Uncle's Love: My Sweet Little Wife Published:2024-5-29

Kara and James went back into the villa. After dinner, James went into the study.
Kara knew that James was busy and didn’t dare to disturb him. But when Kara went to the art studio, she thought of the man she met in the cemetery.
If the man hadn’t opened his mouth to speak, Kara would have thought that something supernatural had happened to her.
Kara picked up a pencil and drew a portrait of the man on the paper. Kara stared seriously at the portrait, and the longer she stared at it, the more she felt she had met the man somewhere before.
Kara thought for a while but couldn’t figure out where they had met. Then Kara put the portrait aside and started to work on her own drawings.
Master Larry said that all good drawings had their own soul. Good artists should know where to start and had to visualize the impressions in their own way.
Kara thought for a while and drew on the paper the impressions that had flashed through her mind during the day.
Then it proved that the day wasn’t a peaceful one.
When Kara finished her work, she touched her stomach and decided to go downstairs to get some food. Then Kara heard the doorbell ring.
Kara cast a glance at the clock, feeling quite confused. It was already ten in the evening. Who could it be?
Kara peeked through the peephole and saw the person outside. Then her eyes widened in astonishment.
Then Kara turned around, ran upstairs, and opened the door to the study.
“James, Aunt Emily has come. She’s outside.”
Kara ran to James’ desk but found that James was having a meeting with headphones around his ears. Then Kara turned around and saw the top managers staring at her from the other side of the screen.
Kara felt quite embarrassed. She wanted to cover her face but refrained from doing that. Finally, Kara forced a smile and greeted the managers.
“Hello, everyone. I’ve just passed by. I came in a hurry and I’m leaving now. I won’t disturb you. Bye!” Kara said and quickly fled.
The managers were dumbfounded.
“How dare she pass by Mr. James’ study?” they thought.
“Mr. James, is she your fiancée? She’s quite a lovely girl,” said a foreigner in broken Chinese.
“No, she’s not my fiancée.” James shook his head, and his lips curved into a gentle smile.
“She’s my wife. Jack will be in charge of today’s meeting. I’ll read the meeting report tomorrow.”
James gave the order and then turned off his computer.
The managers were rendered speechless.
When it was morning abroad, it was evening in NK City.
James didn’t want to go on a business trip. But since he had to take care of the business abroad, he had no choice but to have a meeting at night.
In the past, James could only stay in China for a week at most every month. Now since Kara was by his side, James wanted to stay longer in China.
When James went downstairs, he saw Emily who looked gaunt and tired. James cast an indifferent glance at Emily and walked to Kara.
Kara was pouring water to make tea. Emily was a guest, and as the hostess, Kara had to entertain her.
James took the teacup from Kara’s hand and started to make tea on his own.
“James, I can do it myself,” Kara whispered.
“Can you make better tea than I do?” James asked.
Kara was rendered speechless.
She had to admit that she couldn’t match James in making tea.
Kara sat obediently beside James and watched him make the tea. Both of them cared little about Emily.
Emily felt slighted and got quite annoyed. She stared gloomily at Kara and said in a commanding tone.
“Go upstairs. I have something to tell James.”
Kara glanced at Emily and then stared questioningly at James.
“Kara is my wife. You have no right to order her this way!”
James focused on the tea and didn’t even take a look at Emily.
Emily frowned and stared at James with a complicated gaze. Then Emily explained what she had come for.
“I know you’ve been investigating Vivian’s death for years. You have even suspected me, right?”
James froze. Then he looked up at Emily, his brown eyes still calm.
“I can tell you clearly that Vivian’s death has nothing to do with me. But I really know something about Vivian. I don’t know if it can be exchanged for something from you.”
“What do you want from me?”
“Let Emma go to another school and stay at my side. I will stay abroad and won’t come back to bother you.”
When Emily was young, she forsook her own happiness in favor of her family by marrying a wealthy man that she didn’t love.
After Emily got divorced, she felt she had got a lot of worldly experience and was strong enough to face any challenge. Emily didn’t want to give in to her own fate and wanted eagerly to take charge of the SA Group.
But after Emily competed with James for the Group, she realized that she was not a match for James at all.
James was too calculating and heartless. He even had no mercy on his relatives.
“Okay, then tell me what you know about Vivian,” James said.
“Back then, when Keely was with your parents, she had a miscarriage that made her no longer able to bear children. Do you know about this?”
“Yes.”
James didn’t try to hide anything. Though James didn’t care about the relationship between Keely and Quentin, he was quite clear about what had happened between them.
If it wasn’t for the fact that Keely was unable to bear children, James wouldn’t have been in this world.
“Keely couldn’t bear children, so Zoey asked Quentin to go on a blind date. Quentin escaped, and Zoey followed him to his workplace. Zoey knew that Quentin was stubborn and that she couldn’t force him to compromise, so she offered Quentin two options.
“Zoey said that Quentin should either go on a blind date and get married to a random woman or have a child with Keely. Zoey’s ultimate goal was to cement her place in the Hemmings and prevent Marcos from talking all the share of the SA Group.
“Quentin chose the second option, so Zoey found Quentin a woman who could get pregnant for Quentin and Keely.
“Quentin hid it from Keely and went to see the woman that Zoey had found for him. The woman was Vivian, your mother.
“Vivian was gravely ill and had no money for medical treatment at that time. Quentin liked Vivian’s good look and thus signed a contract with her.
“If Vivian could give birth to a child for Quentin, Quentin would give Vivian money for medical treatment.
Quentin told Vivian that he had neither got married nor had a girlfriend, and thus Vivian agreed to take the deal.”
Kara frowned. When Kara met Quentin at the Hemming’s last time, she felt Quentin was a gentleman. Kara just didn’t expect Quentin to have such sordid affairs with women.
Seeing that James was still calmly sipping his tea, Emily thought of the things that happened next and stared at James with some anticipation in her eyes.
Emily wondered what expressions James might have when he knew the story that followed.
“Later, after Vivian recovered from her illness, Quentin picked Vivian up from the hospital and took Vivian into the villa that Zoey had arranged for them. The two stayed together for a month. Vivian got pregnant, and at the same time, she fell in love with Quentin.
“However, after Quentin learned that Vivian was pregnant, he left. Quentin didn’t come to see Vivian even after Vivian gave birth to the child.
“Vivian gave birth to a boy, and to avoid further troubles, Zoey asked the doctor to remove Vivian’s womb. This way, Vivian couldn’t bear children anymore.”
Kara was indignant. She felt the people were rather cruel. She didn’t expect the people to deprive a woman of her most important body part just for their own benefit.
Kara noticed that James was clutching the teacup tightly. She tugged at James’ clothes worriedly and was about to grab his fingers.
James looked down at Kara, put down the teacup, and held Kara’s hand.
Emily stared fixedly at James. But when she saw the faint smile on James’ face, a spasm of fear ran through her.
“How could he smile on hearing his mother’s misery?
How can he be so heartless?” Emily thought.
“Aunt Emily, how do you know all this?” Kara asked.
Emily raised her chin. “When Zoey did all this back then, I was at her side. At that time, I felt Zoey was too cruel and tried to persuade Zoey not to hurt Vivian. Vivian was James’ mother, after all.
“But Keely suddenly knew all this and started a fight with Quentin. Quentin didn’t want to break up with Keely, so he took Keely to watch Vivian’s operation.”
James clenched his fists, and veins popped out of his hands. James’ brown eyes were cold as ice and radiated a malicious air.
“Go on!” James ordered in a coldly.
