What was the cruelest thing in this world?
If James was asked this question, he would say it was to witness his most beloved woman being hurt.
A loud bang was heard.
He quickly ran to the woman and held her tightly in his arms. The deafening sound of crash echoed in his ears.
Kara’s mind went blank at the loud noise.
She looked up in confusion and saw broken pieces of glass scattered on the ground.
James helped her up and took a few steps forward. Only then did she realize that their car was now under a large truck that had turned at an extreme speed.
Cold sweat broke out on her back as the lingering fear rose in her. Fortunately, she got off the car. Otherwise, she would be crushed like those broken pieces of glass in the car.
“James, are you alright?” Kara asked worriedly.
“I’m fine.”
James turned around. Instead of looking at his own car, he went to check on the big truck.
There was no one in the truck. He narrowed his eyes and looked at the steering wheel. He found that the car was being operated by someone remotely.
Someone was trying to kill him!
His handsome face darkened as his brown eyes stared at the big truck with complex emotions. Jenny was kidnapped. Did this accident have something to do with that?
“James, what about the driver in the truck? Is he injured?”
Kara worriedly walked to him after he checked the truck. She didn’t see the truck driver, either. Did he escape?
“There’s no one in the truck. The other party came prepared.” James sneered and called the insurance company.
“Are you saying that this car accident was premeditated? Someone wants to harm me, right?” Kara asked with wide eyes.
“How can you be sure that it was you that they wanted to harm?” James turned to look at her.
“You left me just now. If they wanted to hurt me, they would go after you. Why did the truck rush over when I was in the car and why would it hit the passenger seat?” Kara analyzed.
James squeezed her little hand, held the back of her head, and took her into his arms.
She could hear her heart beating rapidly. She was frightened.
Fortunately, she was the one who got out of the car. Otherwise, he wouldn’t dare to think about what would happen next.
“Kara, don’t be afraid.”
Listening to his comforting voice, Kara chuckled, opened his arms, and hugged him tightly.
She rubbed her face against his chest and noticed that he had changed into a suit and he now wore a tie.
It turned out that he had just gotten out of the car to buy a suit. He lowered his head to look at his sleeves, and she saw a pair of sapphire blue sleeves.
She felt sweet inside. The corner of her mouth rose to form a smile and she blinked her big eyes.
“With you by my side, I am not afraid of anything. James, what should we do now?”
“Go home!”
James took out his phone and sent a message to Nolan, asking him to deal with the mess here.
Worried that Kara would be afraid if she stayed here any longer, he reached out to stop a taxi and took her to the villa.
When they arrived at the villa, Kara looked down at his hand that had held her wrist tightly. She pursed her pink lips at the scene.
She did not witness the scene when the accident happened, and when she realized what had happened, she was scared.
It seemed that the person who was really frightened was him.
“James, I’m fine now. Don’t worry.” She patted his arm gently and tried to appease him.

“Okay.” Kara nodded her head obediently.

“Yes, it hurts.”
She pouted her lips and blinked pitifully.
James licked his thin lips. His handsome eyebrows furrowed and he looked sullen.
“How about that? You coax me and make me happy. If I’m happy, I won’t feel the pain anymore.” She laughed coquettishly.
James was speechless.
He glanced at her and rubbed her head. Then he instructed Libby,
“Libby, prepare a plate of fruit for Kara.”
“I also want some dessert with strawberry flavor!” Kara added excitedly.
“Oh, right. Prepare a strawberry pie, big size.”
Libby nodded.
“James, you really know how to please women.” Kara released his hand in satisfaction and ran to Libby.
James rolled his eyes
This little fool didn’t want him anymore as long as there was dessert.
James pursed his lips helplessly and went upstairs to the study.
This accident was clearly premeditated. The person who dared to hurt his woman under his gaze was too bold!
He went to the study and asked Nolan to report what he had found after the investigation. Nolan’s conclusion was exactly the same as he expected.
That truck was stolen somewhere and then was manipulated through remote control. The truck had followed him all the way, waiting for an opportunity to create a car accident.
“Are there any other clues?”
“The truck had been tampered with. I went to investigate the records of the truck, but the car suddenly exploded. I assume that there must have been a bomb installed inside.” Nolan’s voice was a bit hoarse.
“Are you alright?” James frowned.
