It was a fine day. In the evening, the sunset colored the sky red. It was very beautiful.
Some of the afterglows sprinkled into the room, bringing some warmth to the ward. It was at that time that Kara opened her eyes.
Zoie quickly moved to the bedside and called out to Kara softly.
Kara blinked her big eyes with a blank face.
“Zoie, am I dreaming?”
Kara’s voice was hoarse, low, and soft, just like the cry of an injured kitten.
“No. You are fine now. It’s all over.” Zoie felt bad for Kara as Zoie touched Kara’s forehead. “Kara, silly girl, James…”
Kara looked around the ward. It took her quite a while to figure out that she was no longer in danger.
At that time when Kara got rid of Zoie’s hand, she believed she was going to die. Kara did not expect that she would be so lucky to survive.
Hearing Zoie mention James’ name, Kara frowned slightly.
“Zoie, my stomach aches.”
“What? Your stomach? I’ll call the doctor now.” Zoie was nervous.
Kara held Zoie’s hand and shook her head with a smile. “My stomach told me that it is empty. Doctors can do nothing about it. But a takeout will be of great help.”
Zoie and Jamya didn’t see this coming. They both felt worried about Kara when she said her stomach ached.
James assumed that Kara would be hungry when she woke up, so he had already prepared food for her. When Jamya came out, she saw James’ back and sighed.
No one could stay utterly peaceful in the face of such an unexpected accident.
“Mr. James, Kara is awake. She is eating now.”
“I see.”
James nodded and fell silent.
Jamya thought for a few seconds and could not help but say, “Mr. James, Kara is unwilling to listen to our explanation. I think you should not see her for the next few days. Otherwise…”
“I see.”
James nodded again. He stood straight there and his tall figure emanated a sense of coldness and intimidation.
With his face peaceful, James turned around and left.
“Mr. James, are you alright?” Jamya was worried.
James paused. One of his hands was in his pocket and the other was placed by his lips as if he was thinking about something serious.
James turned around to face Jamya. Although his face looked pale, his eyes were sharp.
“Please take care of my wife for a few days. If you need my help to handle your relationship with Ayden, please let me know.”
Jamya stared blankly at the tall figure walking away. After thinking about James’ words for a long time, Jamya furrowed her brows.
Jamya wondered if she could have a happy ending with Ayden given her status.
Jamya wasn’t sure and could only take it one step at a time.
In the ward, Kara had two bowls of soup, ate another bowl of porridge, and still wanted to eat some fruit. But Zoie stopped Kara.
“You just woke up. The doctor said you can’t eat too much. You can’t digest it.”
Kara frowned, staring at the fruit bowl with her big clear, and bright eyes. She seemed to drool at any minute.
“Zoie, I don’t eat the big ones. I’ll only pick a small one. Is that OK?”
There were apples, pears, kiwis, cherries, and seedless grapes in the fruit bowl.
The corner of Zoie’s mouth twitched. These fruits were all prepared by James. They must be Kara’s favorites.
Zoie decisively took the fruit bowl away, but then a slender white arm wrapped around her waist.
“Zoie, I’ll only have one. Please!”
“Nope!”
Kara let go of Zoie, pursed her lips, and stared at Zoie sadly.
“What’s going on?”
When Jamya came in, she saw that Kara was like a fragile kitten curled up on the sofa. Kara looked pitiful.
“Jamya, just ignore her. Kara is acting like a spoiled child,” Zoie burst into laughter.
“Jamya, someone is bullying your most adorable little Kara. You have to stand up for me,” Kara complained.
“Kara, be a deer. If you eat too much, your stomach will ache, so will our hearts. You’d better behave yourself. If you are really hungry, drink more water,” Jamya tried to persuade Kara kindly.
“Both of you are bullying me. I am such a poor kid. No one loves me. No one cares about me. Nothing matters to me in the world.”
Jamya and Zoie didn’t know what to say.
The two of them took deep breaths. They had to calm down.
“Don’t play tricks. If you feel uncomfortable, go to bed and lie down. We will stay here with you and we can watch a movie together,” Jamya warned.
Kara lay on the sofa, holding her phone, but she did not turn it on. She turned to look at Jamya and Zoie.
“Jamya, aren’t you going to class? It seems that Zoie also needs to work today.”
“I skipped my classes. Zoie couldn’t bear to part with you, so she asked for a day off. Do you feel touched?” Jamya explained.
Kara knelt on the sofa and shook her head, “Wow, Jamya, you skipped classes for me? You do love me in that case! But will I be guilty of being an obstacle in your studies then?”
“What nonsense are you thinking about?” Jamya wanted to knock Kara on the forehead, but Kara ducked Jamya.
Jamya’s hand froze in the air, but soon, she adjusted her facial expressions and said tentatively.
“Kara, in fact, we all got Mr. James wrong. At that time, it was Jenny who drugged him to deliberately irritate you, he…”
“Oops, I’m feeling so tired now. I think I’m going to take a nap.”
Kara interrupted Jamya and ran to the bed to cover herself with a quilt. Kara turned her back at Jamya and Zoie.
Jamya and Zoie exchanged looks with each other. Now that Kara heard James’s name, she interrupted them. It seemed that it would take quite some time for Kara to accept what had happened.
Outside the hospital, James was sitting in a car.
James rolled down the window and propped one of his arms against the window. He placed his long fingers on his thin lips and asked Mason for a cigarette.
However, James didn’t light it up. He just put it beside his lips and sniffed the smell of it.
James was worried that smoking would make him nauseous, and there was nothing left in his stomach to puke.
Nolan came over, took out a medical document, and handed it to James after sitting in the passenger’s seat.
“Mr. James, Jenny is here. John’s got the news, too.”
“Then let’s go and watch the show.”
James pointed with his finger, telling Mason to drive.
Late at night, under the lights of the park, two homeless men were sitting on the bench, scratching their feet.
The two saw a woman wearing only a bath towel from afar. She staggered over. The woman had a graceful figure and a pretty face. Although her hair was messy, she still looked pretty.
The two homeless men stood up and hurried to walk towards the woman.
“Gorgeous, where are you going?”
“Get out of my way!”
Smelling the awful smell of the two men, Jenny pushed them away in disgust and wanted to speed up, but she had no strength.
Jenny was taken to the hospital by Nolan. She had handed the antidote to him. Jenny thought that James would kill her. She didn’t expect James to let her go.
After a narrow escape, Jenny still had a lingering fear in her heart. She just wanted to hurry home to pack up and leave NK City.
“Well, well. You don’t seem to have a good temper, gorgeous.” The two men looked horny. They stared at Jenny greedily.
“Gorgeous, where are you going? Maybe we can help you.”
A man grabbed Jenny’s arm and hugged her easily.
Jenny wanted to struggle, but she had no strength at all. She wanted to shout, but the man covered her mouth.
Although the two men were thin, they had great strength. They exchanged looks vulgarly and got each other at once. They then dragged Jenny to a hidden bush. Soon there were sounds of men gasping and a woman weeping.
By the roadside, under the street lights.
The luxurious Maybach cast a shadow. The window rolled down, and James watched as Jenny was dragged away by the two homeless men. James’ lips curled up in mockery.
Didn’t Jenny want to have sex?
Then James gave Jenny a hand.
The two homeless men rarely ran into a woman, so they found great pleasure in Jenny. Three hours later, the two of them left with great content. They took Jenny with them.
The show had just been on!
