Kara was awakened by a nightmare. She opened her eyes and saw the dark room. Kara was scared and called James.
Thinking of her nightmare, Kara quickly got out of bed and walked around the room on bare feet.
Suddenly, Kara heard the thunder outside the house. She covered her ears with her hands and crouched by the bed, her body trembling slightly.
The thunder was not loud, but without James by her side, Kara was still afraid.
Only after a long while did Kara dare to stand up, put on her shoes and go out to look for him.
Kara was so nervous that even her fingers were trembling and her mind was a mess. Kara knocked on Jamya’s door, but it was Eli who opened the door.
“Why are you here?” Kara widened her eyes in shock.
When Eli heard the knock, he was also very puzzled. He didn’t know who would look for him at this time.
Eli wondered if Jenny had come up with a new idea.
Opening the door, Eli did not expect it to be Kara. He was surprised.
However, Eli found that Kara looked so pale. Eli was worried. He touched Kara’s forehead and it was hot.
“Kara, you are sick.”
Kara waved away Eli’s hand and was about to leave. However, Kara was stopped by Eli.
Eli wanted to pull Kara’s hand. Thinking that Kara disliked him, Eli withdrew his hand and opened his arms to stop her.
“Kara, you are sick now. You need to take some medicine and have a good rest.”
“It is none of your business.”
Kara was annoyed because she had not found James and had no patience to speak with Eli.
Eli frowned and took a deep breath. Then he continued to persuade Kara.
Eli said, “Kara, I reflected on it for a long time yesterday. What I have done might be a little extreme and made you unhappy.”
“If I can’t be your love, I am willing to be your friend.”
Kara stared at Eli. His expression and tone were so sincere.
Kara didn’t care about who Eli was. She only wanted to find James.
Seeing that Kara still wanted to leave, Eli frowned and stopped her again, “Kara, don’t push me.”
“What do you mean?”
Eli saw a waiter coming over, said a few words to Kara, and then pushed her into his room.
“Eli, let me go. What do you want to do?”
“I’m your friend. What do you think that I’ll do?”
Eli poured a cup of water for Kara and placed it in front of her. He then reached out his hand to feel if her forehead was hot.
Kara frowned and slapped Eli’s hand away.
Kara did not like to be touched by others, except James, so she subconsciously did this.
Eli looked at the back of his hand and did not get angry. He looked at Kara with mixed feelings and turned around. Then someone knocked on the door.
Eli went to open the door, and when he turned back, he held a pile of medicine in his hand. On the package were Chinese directions.
Eli tried to persuade Kara while looking for medicine.
“Don’t you have a phone in your hand? If you want to find James, call him.”
Kara relaxed a little after hearing Eli’s words.
Kara held her phone tightly and turned to make another call.
Kara had called James a few times before, but James hadn’t picked up. That was why she was in such a hurry to find him.
Kara thought if James left in advance because he got something to do.
Eli found the fever-reducing pills and saw that Kara was still holding her phone nervously. Eli felt frustrated.
“Nothing is more important than your health. After taking the medicine, I will accompany you to find James.”
Kara stared at Eli doubtfully. She wondered how Eli who had been so extreme yesterday suddenly became so considerate.
“Don’t stare at me like that. I don’t want you to hurt yourself again. Kara, I like you. I just hope that you can be happy.”
Eli couldn’t do more for Kara but what he said was true.
Eli liked Kara because he wanted to make her happy.
Yesterday, in order not to let James hurt Eli, Kara dared to bite herself.
If Eli did something to her now, Kara would definitely do something even more extreme.
Kara said that Eli was paranoid, so did Kara.
Kara looked at Eli seriously. She had no notion of making things difficult for each other. “Eli, thank you for understanding me.”
“OK. Now you can take the medicine.” Eli smiled as he gave her the water and medicine to Kara.
Kara was a little dizzy. She didn’t feel good from the moment she woke up.
Kara might catch a cold.
“Eli, let’s make a pinky promise. We will be friends and won’t hurt each other.”
Eli noticed that Kara didn’t trust him. He frowned and gritted his teeth.
“Kara, you don’t believe me?”
Kara pursed her lips and still insisted on making a pinky promise with him.
Eli smiled bleakly and took one of the fever medicine in his hand, and then handed the other one to Kara.
“Don’t worry. I promise with my life that I want your love. I will pursue you but won’t use despicable means to hurt you.”
Seeing how frank Eli was, Kara ate the pill without hesitation.
“Why did you suddenly come here?”
Eli glanced at Kara and got up to look at the rain outside the window. He pulled the curtains aside and let the light in.
“You didn’t go to school. I was worried about your health. I heard that you and James would come here, so I came to see you.”
“Thank you for your concern. I feel good now.”
Kara was relieved because Eli started to talk to her like a friend.
However, Kara promised James not to initiate contact with Eli, and she was ready to get up and say goodbye to him.
“Kara, don’t you want to hear how I met you?”
Kara was doubtful but she still quietly listened to Eli.
Eli said, “I know you when you were seven years old.”
Eli sat on the sofa opposite Kara and sorted out his thoughts.
“That year, your father took you to learn how to dance. I was learning how to paint in the classroom next door. When I first saw you, I wanted to be your friend.”
“But you were too timid, always lowering your head and hardly talking to others except when you were learning to dance.”
“After a few days, I summoned up the courage to say hello to you, but you timidly lowered your head and ran away with your schoolbag.”
“I thought I scared you and waited for a few more days. When I walked up to you again to greet you, you finally looked at me.”
Kara rubbed her head and searched for it in her memory carefully.
Kara recalled that a boy greeted her and said that he wanted to be friends with her when she was learning how to dance.
However, Kara’s memory was too obscure, and Kara could not remember how did that boy look like.
“Why?”
Kara was puzzled. She couldn’t figure out why Eli wanted to be her friend.
Kara thought Eli was so smart and he wouldn’t want to be her friend.
“Because of one of your paintings. A lonely child that you drew. I see myself through the stubbornness in that child’s eyes.”
Kara was speechless.
Kara was surprised that Eli fell in love with her because of the paintings she drew.
“It was that time that I knew your name, Kara. I asked you if I could call you Kara. You nodded.”
“But I didn’t expect that it would make other girls jealous and did mean things to you.”
“Are they those girls who hid my dancing shoes, scolded me, and often pushed me?”
Kara was angry, and her memory gradually came back to her.
“Well, do you remember?”
James looked at Kara excitedly.
