Everyone was intrigued by getting their palms read by Leon.
Leon couldn’t predict their fate precisely, but he did it anyway since Ayden seldom asked for favors.
Leon squeezed Rory’s palm lightly and smiled.
“Mr. Rory, your career is at its peak. As long as you stay on the right path, it will definitely thrive.”
“What is the right path?” Rory raised his eyebrows.
“The right path.” Leon pondered for a moment to search for more common words to explain the concept.
“Don’t break the law. Don’t steal. Don’t be obscene. Don’t deceive. Don’t cross the line. You are on the right path if you do the right things.”
Rory’s lips twitched.
‘Nonsense. Whose business would grow after breaking so many laws?
The huckster!’
“You are all excellent young men, but Mr. Rory is the luckiest.”
Leon continued to look at Rory’s palm and paused before nodding.
“Yes, Mr. Rory’s marriage is not bad. It is one in a million.”
Rory was satisfied with the first sentence but was bothered by the last one.
“I’m so lucky to have a one-in-a-million love. Maybe I will get to fuck a mermaid?”
The crowd was speechless.
Why couldn’t he mind his language in this solemn place?
“Speaking of a rare-bred partner, your love could be a ghost or other spirits. Maybe it’s a vampire or a crooked witch. Those are hard to come by as well. Tsk tsk, brother, I envy your good luck.”
Zoie retorted without any trace of politeness.
“Zoie, I am your brother. If I marry an old witch, you will be in danger. The witch would be jealous of your youth and eat you alive. What should I do then?”
Rory pretended to be in pain as he clutched his chest. His taunting tone showed that he didn’t believe Leon’s fortune-telling.
“Leon, is there a way to save me from such a tragic fate?”
Leon stared at Rory’s palm seriously for a while, nodded, and said seriously.
“In my opinion, Mr. Rory, enjoy your life while you can. Don’t think too much about it. It is destined. There is no hiding that could work. Your love will come to you on her own.”
Rory was stunned.
“My God, that’s hilarious. I can’t take it anymore. Jamya, my stomach hurt from laughing.”
Zoie burst out a string of laughter.
Zoie was laughing so hard that she leaned into Jamya for support. Meanwhile, Jamya was suffering from holding her laughter in. Seeing that everyone else was laughing, Jamya could not help but laugh.
“Leon, what about me?” Ayden eagerly handed his palm to Leon.
Leon glanced at him and Jamya, who was standing beside him before looking at Ayden’s palm.
“As the saying goes, luck and misfortune depend on each other. Ayden, your marriage is a rough one, but it is a nice one too.”
“What do you mean?”
Leon said cautiously, “Someone said that you have to find your own path in the world. The road is uneven, but you will have great company.”
Ayden stared at Leon with a complicated look.
“Ayden, there will be goodbyes at the crossroad. There is no need to feel sad. You will find another oasis along the way.”
Leon tapped on Ayden’s palm with his finger and sighed, “No pain no gain. Everything comes with a price.”
“Thank you, Leon. I understand.”
Ayden felt he had an epiphany and nodded at Leon gratefully.
Leon nodded back. Ayden was his friend. This was what friends were for.
Rory sat lazily on the side and glanced at Ayden since he didn’t understand the exchange between the two men.
“What do you understand now?”
Jamya was curious about Ayden’s words too.
Ayden tightened his hold on Jamya’s hand and smirked at Rory’s question.
“I understand that your good days are limited. You should take care of your lovers before your one true love comes for you.”
Rory felt silent.
Rory rolled his eyes and clenched his fists to hold back from knocking the grin off Ayden’s face.
Will was tempted though he was an atheist. He never believed in any fortune teller.
However, when he heard what Leon had said to Ayden, he felt his heart was touched.
Will stepped forward and extended his palm with a respectful attitude.
“Leon, would you read my palm too?”
Leon shook his head indulgingly. He could say no as he had read the others’ palms.
“Mr. Will, do you want to know about your marriage or career?”
“Marriage.”
Zoie heard his words and looked up at him, but looked away indifferently.
Leon looked at Will’s palm and sighed, “Mr. Will, you are a doctor, and a good one no less. Unfortunately, you can’t treat yourself.”
When they first met, everyone introduced themselves. But Will only offered his name and did not reveal that he was a doctor.
However, Leon said it directly, which showed that he was a real deal.
“You’re right,” Will admitted frankly with a bitter smile. “Could you treat me?”
Leon shook his head. “No medicine could heal a broken heart. The wounds couldn’t heal on their own. And it would only get worse if you kept dabbing at them. It’s common sense. Mr. Will, you should know better than me.”
“I do.” Will nodded.
“Then why do you obsess over it?”
“Obsess?” Will did not understand.
“Yes, your obsession is tearing it open over and over again. Soon, it will damage not only your heart but your health too.
“Mr. Will, the wound you cut with the scalpel will leave a scar. If you want to be healthy, you can’t keep staring at the scar. Instead, you have to look for the good side.”
Will frowned and felt that he had to think about this sentence carefully.
“Thank you for your guidance, Leon.”
“You’re welcome. It’s human nature to die of old age and illness.” Leon patted Will on the shoulder encouragingly and then joked to him like a friend.
“By the way, which hospital are you from? Let’s exchange numbers. I might need your help someday.”
“Alright,” Will paused before answering.
Nolan instinctively pushed his glasses up. Everyone was joining in the fun. If he didn’t join, it seemed a bit unreasonable.
“Leon, please take a look at my marriage.”
Leon didn’t answer.
Leon thought he should open a psychological counselor to charge them by the hour.
“Well, Mr. Nolan, it seems that you have a good marriage.” Leon excitedly pointed at Nolan’s palm.
Nolan raised his eyebrows. “How good is it?”
“Mr. Nolan, could you tell me your birthday?”
Nolan nudged his glasses again with a displeased glint in his eyes.
“I’m an orphan. I don’t know when I was born.”
“Wonderful!”
Leon smiled and nodded. Everyone was surprised and did not know why Leon said so.
“It means that your mate doesn’t care about your background. She must like you for who you are. What’s more, Mr. Nolan. Your career is looking good. You are so lucky.”
After listening to the tragic fate of the first two men, Nolan felt disbelief at Leon’s good words. He wondered if Leon had other readings.
“Is my future really this good?”
“Well, Mr. Nolan, look at your hand. With this marriage, you don’t have to worry about anything. You are settled for life.”
“Wow, Nolan will be kept by a rich woman in the future,” Rory commented.
The corner of Nolan’s mouth twitched and he sneered, “Do you want to exchange fate with me?”
Leon shook his head, drank a cup of tea, and continued to explain.
“You can’t do that. Mr. Rory’s one-in-a-million love is his destiny. Yours are different. She will be waiting for you as long as you live.”
Nolan was shocked.
The corner of Nolan’s mouth twitched. ‘I’d rather have Rory’s rare love,’ he thought.
“Nolan, you have to live longer for your rich lady.” Rory was happy that Nolan’s future was no better than his.
Kara listened to the telling Leon gave to the others. She was also curious and extended James’ hand toward Leon.
“Leon, please, take a look at him too.”
James narrowed his eyes and stared at Kara coldly. Although he was unwilling, he still indulged her.
Leon raised his head and glanced at James. Sensing the murderous aura coming from the man, he frowned slightly.
Leon’s gaze fell on James’ palm. Leon closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He did not speak for a long time.
