Somewhere

Everyone got up as soon as the bell rang. I packed up my things and slung my backpack over my shoulder. I was about to head directly to the door and go home when I remembered that we haven’t finished the task yet.
I turned around to look at the back to check if Eion was still there. I sighed in relief as I saw him adjusting the straps of his bag before flinging it over his shoulder. He didn’t see me standing at the doorway as he still prepared himself to leave.
I step aside to allow students to exit towards the door as they bumped into me repeatedly.
“Eion,” I called out enough for him to hear. He looked up and nodded his head lazily just seeing me. I waved him over, motioning to come.
“What is it?” He asked in his usual emotionless tone.
“The task, remember?” I asked, crossing my arms in front of me.
“And?” He asked, still looking at me blankly.
“We need to finish it, I think we are not done with it yet.” I said, remembering that we pretty much played around yesterday and only did a bit of work.
“Okay.” He said and started to walk to the door.
“Wait for me, I’ll tell Luke first,” I said and walked towards the door and spotted Luke just outside the room.
“Hi,” I waved at him. He was typing something on his phone before looking up, his face brightening at the sight of me.
“Hi,” he replied. I walked towards him and peeked from his shoulder.
“Who was that?” I asked, referring to the person he was texting.
“It was my partner from the Literature class, Annie. She said we should do our task right now.” He frowned, disappointed. “Are you okay with it?” He asked hesitantly as if I am a bomb that will blow up any second now.
I cocked an eyebrow at him, then shrugged, “Of course.”
His eyebrows furrowed. “You’re not jealous?”
I looked at him incredulously, “No, why would I? I’m not your mother,” I keep a straight face, trying hard not to smirk. Although deep inside I am worried about it.
But I trust Luke… he’s still courting me, so he wouldn’t do something he would regret right? Right.
Convincing myself, I faced him.
“Because my partner Annie is a girl. And a very pretty one.” He said, emphasizing the word ‘pretty’. “And you have to be jealous that maybe something will happen to me.”
“Happen to you? Why would I be jealous when we’re not even together?” I force aside the laugh inside me, still keeping a straight face.
The corners of his mouth turned downward, pouting. “Ouch, Snow” He clutched his chest dramatically.
Rolling my eyes at him, I remembered why I came here for, “By the way, Eion and I will finish our task today, so I think it’s okay for you to do your task.”
“You didn’t finish it yet?”
I nodded.
“Where did you do your task?” he raised his eyebrows. For some reason, my face heated up. Why am I blushing? Probably because an image popped into my head of Eion, holding a saddle. A slight tug formed in my heart as I remember Eion and Nathan get along so well.
“Err… somewhere,” I replied quickly, flashing him a smile. He nodded his head but I could tell he didn’t believe it. His phone rang and he looked at it. He heaved a sigh.
“Snow, I have to go. My partner was really desperate to finish it. Are you sure you’re going to be okay again?” He asked again, making sure of it.
I gave him a thumbs up. “Yes, it’s really fine for me, Luke.”
Grinning from ear to ear, he then waved goodbye at me, “Okay then, I have to go. See you on Monday!” With that, I saw him walking away from me until he finally disposed of my sight.
“We should go.” A voice said from behind me and I jumped from the sudden sound, holding my chest. Then I turn around, seeing Eion’s annoyed expression.
“Whoa, you scared me!” I said to him, accusing him like he murdered five people.
He snorted. “Drama queen.”
“What did you just say?” I asked, standing up straight, forcing my face to look fierce. But my effort was nothing with his blank look.
“C’mon.” He said and pocketed his hands to his pockets.
“To where?” I asked.
“To your house, of course, you said we need to finish the task right?” He turned to look at me. Ohh, did he want to do it again at my house? But…
“My house?” I smiled sheepishly. “I think we need to move to another place…”
He raised his eyebrows, confused. “Why? What about your brother?”
“He’s still in his school today, he has practice till five-thirty.” I answered. He nodded at that. “So? Where to?”
I stopped to think for a minute. “Maybe we can do it in your ice cream shop or in another cafe?” I suggested.
He looked at me sternly, thinking carefully. After minutes of him staring at me, I finally gave up and shifted at his gaze. He noticed it and diverted his attention.
“Let’s go.” He said after a few seconds and walked away.
I followed him and furrowed my eyebrows, “Where?”
He didn’t answer and kept quiet.
“I thought we’ll do our task?” I turned to look at him, my brows knitted together. He’s maneuvering his car towards a distant mansion with a huge gate.
“Yes, we will.” He answered while focused on driving. He drove through the massive gates that stood intimidatingly. When we entered, I tried too hard for my mouth not to widen.
I looked at him, his expression was nothing like it was an everyday thing to do. What was he doing?
“But it’s not in the ice cream shop, or in a cafe,” I stated the fact in case he didn’t know it.
“You said we need another place?” He glanced at me and parked his car in the driveway, the different colors of flowers blooming, surrounding their driveway and their front yard.
“Well, yeah. But this is someone’s mansion. Why are we here?” I looked around again.
“We’ll finish the task here at my house.” He said before walking out of his car.
