“Well, to my house?” I announced I was unsure if it’s okay with him.
I am stupid. I know. I really am. Besides, it’s not like it’s a big deal right? I only decided to bring Eion to my house because we didn’t have a choice. Plus, he had been there a few times already.
Well, during that time it was him himself who came there, and this time, it was me who willingly brought him. It’s just awkward on my part…
And that’s the reason why I was here, sitting awkwardly in the front seat of his car while Eion was driving.
I was staring at the window for the whole ride, focusing on it like it was the most interesting thing in the world. The scent of something dark and masculine was lingering in the air, intoxicating me.
I knew I had already l had already ridden his car before but I suddenly long to smell fresh hair, not feeling comfortable. It was very different from Luke’s car which smells something masculine yet sweet. I could feel his hard gaze on me every once in a while. Besides the song playing on the radio, the only sound I could hear was our breathing.
A strange feeling was present in my stomach, very strange. I looked at the road ahead of us and saw that we are now passing through our neighborhood. I sighed, finally. I feel like this journey was very long, like it was hours when in fact it was only a ten-minute ride. I was surprised Eion still remembered my address.
Seeing our blue-painted house, Eion then parked his black car on the driveway, and we got out of the car before walking towards the stairs of our front porch. With that, the door suddenly slammed open, revealing my adorable brother.
“Snowy!” Nathan exclaimed before throwing his tiny arms around my waist. I kneel down so that he can reach me, hugging him.
“Did you miss me Nate-Nate?” I asked. He vigorously nodded his head, too excited to see me. I ruffled his brown locks and chuckled. I then remembered that there was another person behind us so I instantly stood up and faced Eion. I put my arms around my brother.
Eion stood calm and serious, his hands in his pockets, trying hard to mask his uncomfortable feeling at the scene. He stared at Nathan and Nathan stared back at him, his cute eyebrows furrowed, and then, his eyes widened and beamed at Eion, “Eionny!”
“Hello, there, Nathan,” said Eion, ruffling my brother’s hair. “I haven’t brought the lego you wanted, I didn’t know I was going to come here today, your sister just forced me,” he turned to me, and my brother glared at me.
“Really? It’s your fault Snowwy! You shouldn’t force people!” Yelling that to me, Nathan dragged Eion from me and led him to the living room. I saw how Eion shrugged at me and I looked at him incredulously.
Wow. Why am I the bad guy here? And why is my brother siding with him?
Until now, I really did not expect Eion to be good with kids. And as if the miracle of getting along with him wasn’t enough, I saw a corner of his mouth turned upwards. Really, I can see a bit of improvement to Eion…. I think he has been a bit expressive lately..
Sighing, I just followed them.
Once I was in the living room, I saw the television was still on. Perhaps Nathan was watching cartoons when we arrived, and Nathan invited Eion to sit with him, which he obliged and the two of them continued talking with each other about games like I wasn’t even there.
It’s almost like Eion was at home, with the way he sat.
Well, at least Nathan will keep him busy here. I just let them do their thing and threw my bag to the sofa.
I went to the kitchen to grab an orange juice from the refrigerator. I took out three glasses then poured the juice, before going back to the living room to see them playing around. I suddenly felt conscious of our house. Checking if there was dusk or any mess around with my eyes trailing to our orange sofa, and down to the small table in our living room.
The beige walls, complimenting the brown borders made our house humble and comfortable. Well, it’s not like it’s Eion’s first time going here.
Right. What am I worried about?
Sitting down beside Nathan, I put the juice on top of the mini table in front of us, “Here.”
Eion’s attention was now focused on the pictures on the wall. I looked at where he was gazing when I realized it was a picture of me when I was nine years old.
I was beaming at the camera, happy about the new bicycle my father gave me. I don’t have to see a mirror to know that my face was red as a tomato. Eion then averted his gaze towards me, meeting my eyes.
I raised my eyebrows at him, “What? I look cute there, right?” I inquired as I pointed at my picture, attempting to make the air lighter. He scoffed at what I said, “As if,” and shook his head before looking at my hand holding the juice.
“What is that?” he asked.
“Orange juice?” I offered, still not getting over the fact that he saw my childhood picture. He slightly nodded his head before grabbing the juice from the table. Seeing him drinking the juice, I did the same, gulping down the juice and wiped my mouth.
I heaved a sigh, noticing my brother’s curious gaze at me as if figuring out something.
Suddenly, as if realization dawned at him, Nathan furrowed his eyebrows at me and leaned towards me, motioning that he would say something. My brows raised, but curious, I leaned to him and prepared my ear to hear.
“Snowy! What about Luke-y?” He said in what he thinks is a whisper. Eion’s attention turned to us as he heard it clearly.
I faced him, sipping at my juice, “What about him?” Why is my brother bringing him up?
“I didn’t know you had two boyfriends,” his arms crossed, scolding me.
Wait, two boyfriends? Did my brother just think…. there’s something between me and Eion?
I almost choked on my juice. That took me by surprise and I looked at my brother unbelievably. I glanced at Eion, who was looking at us interestingly.
“What?” I asked, still not believing what my brother said.
“You have two boyfriends. But don’t worry, your secret is safe with me,” my little brother raised his hand and zipped his mouth. This time my jaw dropped.
Great.
My brother thinks I have two boyfriends. But my attention wasn’t on my brother but to the robot.
He’s doing the unthinkable.
He was…. laughing. Wholeheartedly.
And this time, it wasn’t a trick of the light.
