Stupid? So that’s how he will call me huh.. “What robot?” I said, calling him with the nickname I made. I didn’t bother to smile, simply since his expression is expressionless, I feel like my fake cheerfulness can’t handle it.
“My table got in a mess. Please clean it,” He said in a monotone voice before leaving. I grab the cleaning towel and spray to do what he asked, before heading to his table.
“Clean it faster, I have a lot more to do,” he said.
I scoffed at that. I faced him and mockingly smiled, “Of course, sir,” With that, I started to pile the cups and tissues there, the strawberry pink ice cream was sprawled all over the table so just to mock him more, I slowly wiped it, then turned to look at my back to catch a glimpse of him standing away from the table, clenching his fist and staring straight at me.
Good. He’s annoyed.
Satisfied at his reaction, I finally finished the remaining job and said, “All done, sir. You can now-” I can’t finish my sentence, feeling something at my back.
Or someone. I turned my head slowly and saw Eion standing so close behind me. Rooted in my spot, my eyes widened in shock.
“W-What are you doing?” I managed to ask forcefully, stuttering. I gulped. He’s too close. If someone sees us, they’ll think he’s hugging me. Well, that’s what I am feeling now.
I can’t believe this guy. Did he get that desperate that he got that pervert? I was just messing with him earlier…
“I-I swear you I’ll push and punch you if you stay like that, robot.”
He just stayed silent.
“What? Can’t talk now, huh?” I added, now in a slight panic. I looked around, good thing everyone was too deep in their world to care. Though the old couple smiled at me, and the woman was cheering for us. What the-
“Don’t move.” He spoke out finally, ordering me. I want to disobey but he added, “There’s a red stain. Wait,” Although it’s against my will, I did what he said and counted in my head on what number to punch him.
“Here,” he took off his black jacket and placed it on my waist, “You have…” He paused, clearing his throat before saying again, “Stain,”
My eyes widened at that. What? Glancing behind me, I gulped, then quickly grabbed the jacket that Eion covered for me.
Damn. I have it. I have it right now. I was not expecting it to be this day. I bolted in a flash while clutching the jacket he lent to me.
I went straight towards the comfort room in a far corner to the left of the counter area.
I don’t have to check inside my pants because the blood was already quickly spreading on my pants. I mumbled a curse. He’s really right. Good thing I have a pad in my locker.
Once I was finished taking care of it, I sighed. Everything was unexpected today. Now that I think about it, maybe that is the reason why I suddenly craved for something and also my sudden I’m-angry-at-everything-stay-away-from-me attitude today.
A few customers came and ordered after that, making me so busy that I forgot the time as an hour passed by. As my shift ended, I cleaned the tables, counters, polished them clean, and swiped off any dust since all the customers left a while ago. I changed into my casual clothes and tossed my backpack on my shoulders.
The bun on my head was starting to give me a migraine so I let it down, it cascaded down my back till almost my waist. Tugging the dry knots with my fingers, I cringe when my hair chooses to battle with me.
Eion was nowhere in sight after my encounter with him. I sighed in relief. If he’s still here, I wouldn’t know how I would deal with him.
After that I closed the shop, securing all doors and double-checking it completely. I hadn’t brought my cycle today, since mom had offered to pick me up. My phone vibrated, I’d gotten a message from her.
Sweetie, I can’t pick you up today, I’m working overtime. Please don’t forget to lock the doors, the food is in the oven, and take care of Nathan. Love you

I sigh, being a nurse was a tough job and I understood that.
Okay, mom, love you too, I reply.
A drop of water came splashing on my hands. I looked up at the sky. It was unusually dark, with the stars hiding behind the clouds, the sky felt like it’s missing something… It’s usual shine.
It’s just starting to rain, it’s not that strong at all so I have a chance to make it through… but one by one it continued that it started drizzling.
The drizzle turned into rain the next minute, the freezing raindrops making me tremble as my steps faltered, my energy sapped and my clothes drenched. I looked up and scowled. Why now?
The city seemed deserted, a few taxis strolling about and I took a taxi but the taxis strolling here already had customers and I didn’t think anyone would allow me in fear of spoiling their seats.
I flinched as thunder sounded in the distance, goosebumps rising over my arms.
Dammit. I’ll just hang out here for a while and wait for the rain to stop. Standing outside, I shivered as the wind picked up.
I scowled at the sky. Stupid sky, so unbelievably unpredictable!
From afar, I heard a whir of a car and I quickly turned to squirt my eyes on it. At last a savior!
I waited for it to reach me when my eyes finally made it out and noticed it was a black SUV, stopping right in front of me, the windows rolled down and I gaped at Eion who sat at the driver’s seat. For a minute, I just stopped to stare at him. Why is he not moving forward? He disappeared earlier, I thought he already went home?
“Are you gonna get in or do you want to enjoy the rain?” He asked, his usual emotionless face greeting me.
I blinked at him. He’s offering me a ride?
I narrowed my eyes to figure him out. Despite the fact that he just helped me earlier, I still don’t trust him. I’m sure he’ll drive away the moment I step in his car just to tease me.
“No thanks, I got my motorbike with me.” I lied, just to refuse his offer.
He cocked an eyebrow, “Then where is it?”
That kept my mouth shut, not able to think of a nice comeback.
He scowled at me, as the rain was still pouring down. “Get in while I’m still nice.”
Tsk, I still don’t want to. Speaking up again, I said, “Sadly I’m not nice either.”
I knew he was annoyed at this point as he said, “Your mom told me to take care of you.”
