CHAPTER 24
Emma went out of the pack house to the backwoods she dropped a signal for her clan members.
“Five months is too far away. I don’t think I can stand being used by him even for a second” Emma uttered with so much hate.
Emma stood in a corner with her hands crossed on her chest as she got lost in her thoughts.
Suddenly three werewolves from the shadow pack arrived at the backwood secretly.
“Princess!” They called out and Emma turned around swiftly.
“You’ve arrived already. Well, is it possible for me to meet the rest of the pack members? I need to discuss something urgent with everyone” Emma uttered seriously.
“Yes milady. Please come with us” They said and Emma left with them as they went through their secret passage leading directly to the shadow pack.
They took Emma to their sojourn.
“Greetings milady” They all greeted at Emma’s arrival and tears crowded Emma’s eyes as she watched the town filled with her clan members.
“You’ve all been through a lot. I’m sorry you all had to go through all this. I’ve been an unfilial princess, I couldn’t even protect more of protecting you all” Emma uttered remorsefully as the tears crowding her eyes dropped.
“It’s none of your fault princesses and we’re grateful you managed to stay alive till this moment. All this happened because of that monster called Alpha Devon, he brought misfortune upon our pack. He destroyed our livelihood in a blink of an eye and that’s why we can’t let him have his way with you princess. We will get you out of there by all means” One of the chiefs uttered seriously and Emma wiped off her tears.
Emma sniffed before talking.
“And that’s exactly why I’m here today. We seem to be pretty lucky, my powers got awakened so this gives us the upper hand to fight against Alpha Devon. He plans on using me as a pawn to get what he wants but we can’t let him keep repeating the past. He used me as an excuse to destroy my family and pack” Emma said angrily.
“Yes, princess, whatever you say we would push through with it. We rather fight to the death than live in hiding for the rest of our lives and thank goodness the prophecy fell on shadow pack. We’ve all been waiting for the prophecy to come through” one of the chiefs uttered.
“Prophecy? I’ve always heard of people saying the prophecy. What prophecy? Does the prophecy have anything to do with me?” Emma asked curiously.
“Yes princess”
“When the prophecy was declared everyone in shadow pack thought your mother would be the one to uphold the prophecy since shadow pack was mentioned in the prophecy but she was a Luna already and not a princess so everyone’s eyes and concentration landed on you but Alpha Falcon forbids anyone from saying it to you because he wasn’t sure if the prophecy was about you. He didn’t want us to keep our hopes up and get disappointed at the end of the day” An elder explained.
“Why do you think my father forbid everyone from saying that to me? Was he just trying to protect us all from false hope but he had something else in mind?” Emma uttered lost in thoughts.
“What do you mean princess?”
“Father knew of the prophecy and he agreed to ally with the grey pack. The alliance is very suspicious and I think the grey pack had something on father. The alliance is more of like a threat” Emma said seriously.
“Well princess, alpha Falcon was only trying to protect shadow’s mask because that stood as a threat to other packs and he knew he would conquer Grey pack someday he was aware of Grey pack’s betrayal someday and that’s why he used an invisible spell to mark the three shadow mask symbols on your wrist” One of the elders informed and everyone looked at him in surprise.
“Princess please can I have a look at your wrist?” He requested and Emma gave out her hand.
“It appears whenever I’m in grave danger” Emma uttered and the elder had a look at Emma’s wrist and then smiled widely.
“Princess, the future of shadow pack lies on your shoulders so please I wish you fulfill the wishes of your late father. Don’t let grey pack finish us up before you strike back” The elder said and Emma wore a blank expression.
“I won’t let him take us down again. I will do the needful at the right time, all I need from all of you is to be safe and wait for my feedback. I should leave now, they’re probably looking for me now” Emma said calmly.
“Take care princess,” They all said in unison and Emma left with the three werewolves who brought her there.
Emma head back to the pack house and just like expected. Alpha Devon and Celina were outside the pack house looking out for her.
“Why are you all doing outside?” Emma asked playing dumb.
“Sire, I told you she would be fine” Celina chipped in and Devon looked at Emma with cold eyes as he sensed something suspicious from Emma’s eyes.
“Celina, you should join Kent on his trip to the Mayor town. I will take Emma with me to safe home” Devon instructed then head to his car.
Emma ran along.
“Ouch! I can’t help myself from getting upset with the sight of her” Celina groaned angrily as she went back into the pack house.
Alpha Devon drove in absolute quiet as he made Emma walk on eggshells.
“You didn’t have to come with me. You assigned Celina to come with me, you must be so busy. You shouldn’t have” Emma chipped in out of the blue as she broke the awkward silence.
“The both of you don’t seem to get along well so I can’t help but get worried whenever the both of you are out somewhere. You don’t need to worry, this isn’t going to affect my busy schedule” Alpha Devon uttered and the silence continued.
Devon drove down to the safe home. The streets are filled with colorful lights and werewolves chatting, playing, and even some training going on at a corner.
“What’s this place?” Emma asked curiously as she looked at the window in admiration.
Devon didn’t utter a word. He got to a bigger mansion and parked in the parking ing lot.
“Let’s go,” Devon said and they came out of the car.
“What’s this place? It’s beautiful here?” Emma exclaimed with a smile.
For a second she forgot she was with Alpha Devon.
“This is safe home. Home for rogues and werewolves with no families. It’s more of like an orphanage but in a better sense because it’s a town” Devon explained and Emma nodded with a smile looking around.
“Wait a minute, I thought you were against rogue cases?” Emma questioned.
“Now that’s a secret I can’t share with you yet. Shall we go in?” Devon asked and Emma nodded.
They went into the Mansion where the chiefs and elderly werewolves of the safe home were seated waiting for Alpha Devon’s arrival.
“Greetings sire” They all greeted in unison.
“Say hello to Luna Emma” Alpha Devon announced and they all bowed to Emma respectfully.
“Greetings milady and welcome to safe home” They greeted and for the first time, Emma smiled genuinely at their honest welcome.
“Thank you all” Emma said with a smile.
“Let’s have our seats” Alpha Devon instructed and everyone sat down.
“I heard of the issues of thefts and robbery here in safe home. What do you think the thefts and robbery started from?” Devon asked.
“Eighty percent of the foodstuffs in the storage room have been stolen and the robbers don’t seem to be from here” One of the chiefs uttered.
“How’s that even possible? Safe home is tightly guarded by stronger werewolves. Robbers can’t get in here and leave in one piece but they stole almost all the food resources in the storeroom and no one seem to have found them. Do you want me to believe that?” Alpha Devon uttered seriously.
“Since it’s a theft of mystery. Technology has improved so it’s only advisable a CCTV footage is placed at every corner of the safe home. That would keep everyone safe from every unforeseen danger. What do you think, sire?” Emma asked and everyone nodded positively.
“That sounds like a brilliant plan, milady” Alpha Devon concurred.
“Very brilliant idea milady” Everyone concurred and Emma smiled brightly.
Devon stared at her from his seat with admiration and he smiled inwardly.
“Luna Emma will be in charge of any arising crises or cases of the safe home so all your reports and request should be sent directly to her office. The location of her office will be sent to you” Alpha Devon announced.
“I look forward to working with you” Emma uttered politely.
Alpha Devon and Emma head back to his car after the discussion with the elders.
Emma looked behind as she sluggishly walked to the car.
“Do you want me to take you around?” Devon asked and Emma looked away.
“If you wish,” Emma said faking a shrug.
“Now that’s very sarcastic when asking for a request from the Alpha” Devon muttered and Emma looked at him.
“It wouldn’t hurt if I go around for a bit since I will be in charge of handling home safe,” Emma said and Devon shook his head.
“Let’s go, I will take you to the pub’s playground,” Devon said and lead the way out of the mansion.
Emma admired the town.
A little kid bumped into Devon and fell.
Devon bent down to help him up.
“Are you okay?” Devon asked politely.
“Thank you,” The kid said and ran after his friends.
Devon smiled as he watched the kids play happily.
“Now I see why Celina was against you telling me about this place,” Emma said and Devon looked at her.
“Why?”
“This place holds a soft part in your heart and that’s a feature you shouldn’t reveal to just anyone as an alpha. Have Grey pack always had a safe home?” Emma asked curiously.
“Not really. It’s a home I established in my first year of enthronement. But you seem to misunderstand something, I help others doesn’t mean I’m weak or soft. I’ve got bigger dreams to make Grey pack a place like safe home. How peaceful will that be to have every place as this” Devon said with a half smile.
He walked forward and Emma stood from behind as she watched him closely.
If she wishes to build a safe place for everyone then why did he heartlessly kill my family? What’s the meaning behind shadow masks? Emma questioned in her head a bit confused.
“What are you doing? Run along, we will be leaving soon so hurry up” Devon said as he turned around and Emma ran to him.
Alpha Devon and Emma looked around the safe home and head back to the grey pack house.
They went into the pack house and Kent and Celina have arrived already.
“How was your trip to Mayor town? Any positive news on the ground floor?” Alpha Devon asked as they all head into the conference room.
“A ground floor is a bit risky for werewolves and that’s why they’re hesitating on giving us engineers” Kent reported.
Alpha Devon sighed as he looked away with so many thoughts on his mind.
“What’s a ground floor needed for?” Emma asked curiously.
“We’re all sensitive to noise and that’s why technology takes ages to get to the werewolf’s territory. If we wish to build a beautiful future place to live in the future then we have to compromise to get there” Devon uttered and Emma nodded.
How can someone with such beautiful plans destroy a pack without having a second thought about it? Emma questioned in her head staring at Devon.
“Sire, did your visit to safe home work out fine?” Kent asked.
“Yes, it did. Emma suggested we introduce the technology on the issue” Alpha Devon said and Celina looked at her.
“I don’t think that would work in our favor. We’re werewolves, technology can be easily manipulated with our lupine abilities” Celina protested.
“Luna Emma must have been so into worldly impossibilities” Celina scoffed.
