Adele put her phone on the bed and rushed to the bathroom. Even though her private area was in pain, she withstood it with tears. She passed the bathtub and went directly to the shower.
Her thoughts strayed once again as she was soaping. She couldn’t express her uneasiness and was afraid her heart might explode. The flow of water in the bathroom paralleled the flow of hundreds of questions in her heart and head. Hugo and Soleil’s meeting causes inexplicable worry and anxiety.
‘Am I selfish if I prevent fate from bringing them together?’ she wondered.
When she completed her bath, she stopped when she spotted Hugo. Sitting on the bed with their legs crossed and a smile on his face.
Hugo extended both arms and patted his legs as if asking her to sit. Adele seems to have lost all her concerns because of Hugo’s actions. She approached the man and positioned herself between Hugo’s legs. As she stood up, she hugged the man and rested her chin on his head.
“Is it still painful?” Hugo asked, playfully. He massaged Adele’s waist up and down as he held on to her waist. Adele felt lucky to be able to dress, since if she only had a towel on her body, it would slip off.
“Uh-hmm.” Adele is now pinching Hugo’s ear down to his cheek. She simply put her hand back there, appreciating every part of Hugo. She had no idea when her feelings began. To her, they’ve just known each other for a short period, but what could she do?
“Aren’t you working today?” Adele asked, because the sun was setting.
“I have work to do, but I don’t want to go in since the company will just add stress to my life.” Hugo scowled and his eyebrows met. Signs of tension because of the company’s predicament.
Adele burst out laughing and grabbed his ear. “Silly. Remember, you’re marrying me to get the position you’ve always wanted.” With what was stated, Adele’s voice grew tasteless. She remembered why she was here in the first place. She cannot bring up the topic of what is the score between them now because of what happened to them.
Adele gently pushed Hugo’s body and patted both shoulders. “Do you want me to assist you? Well, I don’t know much about business, but as your secretary, I can at least help you.” Hugo still clutched Adele as she leaned in and kissed him on both cheeks.
Hugo’s eyes flashed brightly right away. He embraced Adele even more. The phone rang loudly in the middle of their talk.
That’s where Adele finds herself in the previous situation. She’d completely forgotten about Soleil and Aunt Helena. She swiftly released the hand that was restraining her and climbed on the bed to pick up the phone, while Hugo lay on the bed naked.
Adele looked at the caller again, and it was still the unknown number. Her gaze alternated between the screen and Hugo. Her heart ceased to beat. Hugo asked when he observed her anxious gaze.
“Who is that?” Hugo neared Adele and stared at the screen as well…
Adele hastily turned the phone away from Hugo and uncomfortably stared at him.
“I-it’s just Aunt Julia.” Her smile was a combination of nervousness and fear because Hugo thought his lover died five years ago was just on the other phone line now. It was as if a horse was racing in her heart as Hugo stared at the screen. He felt Hugo would know who was on the other line.
When he did not answer the call, there was a knock on their door after a few seconds. They just stared at the door while someone knocking. When Hugo stood up to open the door, Adele stopped the man from standing. The eye is full of terror and seems to be told not to open the door.
Hugo slid Adele’s hand down to remove from his. He looked at her curiously, wondering, “Why are you behaving strangely? Is there a problem?”
Adele opened her mouth, but closed it again. When she is about to answer, the door sound again and the person outside speaks, “Good day, sir. Ma’am Adele’s Aunt is here. I will go down now and prepare food.”
Hugo exited when he had been fully clothed. While she was left alone in their bedroom. She realized it was all over with them at the moment. She had to leave if Hugo found out it’s Soleil. Everything she feels for Hugo must be discarded, since Soleil has returned. She sobbed uncontrollably because of what could have happened to her – to them.
She stood up and went to get her bag. She threw it on the floor while shaking her hands, and the tears didn’t stop falling. When she opened the cabinet, she noticed the neatly organized clothing. They looked as though they were wedded. When the door opened, she started pulling off her white clothing.
“Your aunt Julia and cousin are already downstairs -” Hugo cut himself off in the middle of his sentence as he noticed what Adele was doing. He dashed over to the woman and confronted her. Adele’s eyes did not stop weeping. He watched.
Adele bursts into tears as she sees Hugo. She didn’t want to leave this place, and she especially didn’t want to leave Hugo’s side. She wishes to stay. Hugo was at a loss for what to do as Adele sobbed. He examined Adele’s body to check whether there were any wounds.
“What are you doing? Is it because of what happened last night? Are you regretting it?” He hugged Adele, but Adele just shook her head. “I won’t do it next time if you don’t want to.”
Adele wonders because that’s not what she expects Hugo to say. She let go of the hug and looked at Hugo. In her mind, that’s not what she expects Hugo to tell her.
“Ssshh. Please stop now, hmm? If your aunt and cousin see you, they will blame me for why your eyes are puffy.” Hugo rubbed Adele’s eye with his thumb.
“Cousin?”
“Yeah. Your cousin. The woman with the hijab on her face? I thought you were her cousin, and she’s a Muslim.”
Astonishment replaced Adele’s earlier frightened heart.
