CARLY
“What’s that supposed to mean, Carly?” His voice turned cold and stiff. I was pissing him off. Well, good for him.
“I don’t know, Langston. Try asking yourself in the mirror.”
“I thought you don’t care where I go, what I do.” His tone softened. He blew a breath.
“Damn right, I don’t.” I looked at him again, scowling. “Anything else?”
He shook his head, frowning. “Nothing.” He sighed one more time before he turned. Then he paused and faced me again. “You know what? This is bullshit. I’ve been patient, but you seemed to have enjoyed avoiding me too much. I’d never met anyone who loved her work so much that she forgot she had a fiancé waiting for her. I mean, I also work hard, but what I’m doing is for us, for our future, but I still think about you all the time. But I don’t know about you, Storm.” He wallowed hard before he licked his lips. He stood there wallowing in pain, and I just broke my heart over and over again. “Maybe this is a mistake. Maybe you should marry Domeon. He came to visit you, right?” Then he left and closed the door behind him.

We did not talk after that. He did the same thing every morning, but he left early this time. I woke up. He was already gone. I wanted to get to his room and check what he had been hiding there from me, but I still trusted him and felt like I was crossing the line. I wouldn’t go that far by betraying him again.
Before dinner, he surprised me. He was home early. He was even surprised to see me at home.
I went to my room and ignored him.
“Storm!”
“I’m tired.”
“We need to talk.”
“Maybe later.”
Finally, he left me alone until I froze and realized what I should be doing.
I squeezed my eyes close and cursed myself. “God, I’m so stupid.” He was doing all these things to make me realize I had made a mistake. He was taunting me with what I did to him. And here I was, running away from him when I should be the one wooing him.
I went to knock on his door and opened it.
My gaze landed on his broad chest, his six-pack abs on full display. He was not wearing a shirt, making me stiffen a little. God, I missed this arsehole very much.
He then shut his laptop quickly as if I had just caught his hand in a cookie jar. “Storm?”
“Am I interrupting something?” My tone was strong and visceral.
“No.”
“Are you sure?”
“I’m checking something online.”
“Like what?” I arched a brow.
“What’s with the question, Carly?”
“I don’t know. You tell me.” I propped my hands on my hips as I scowled at him.
“You’ve been acting weird. What’s going on?” His scorching gaze dropped to my chest, down to my abdomen, and my thighs. I realized the tie had loosened around my waist, and my robe had just completely opened. I was only wearing skimpy lingerie, and he might have thought I came here to seduce him. Well, if that was actually the case, I might have won this time.
“What are you watching?”
He shook to laugh, his eyes glittering. He then opened his laptop, turned it on, and showed it to me. “I was watching porn until you came, interrupting me. Happy? I wish I had time to jack off before you knock.” The screen he showed was a crypto exchange website.
“Jeez.” I frowned and turned on my heels.
“Storm! You are not leaving.” I barely reached the hallway when he grabbed my hand. “You need to tell what’s going on.”
“You might be watching porn.” I intentionally dropped my gaze to his bulging crotch. “Go ahead, and I won’t interrupt you this time.”
“You should wear baggies if you feel uncomfortable watching my erection.” He blinked. “Well, scratch that. You’re still hot even in your baggies.”
“You’re so dirty.”
“Says the woman who thought her fiancé was watching porn.” He was taunting me with his smirk, and damn if it wasn’t hot. “Why are you really here, Storm? If you want me, all you have to do is tell me. Since when did you become sexually shy? And since when did I turn you down?”
I swallowed hard as if he had just read my mind.
“Did you miss me, sweetheart?” Rome reached out to the strap of my lingerie, slowly running the back of his finger on my collarbone up to the column of my neck while locking his searing gaze with mine.
I swallowed again, feeling my throat suddenly run dry.
“I was just a door away, waiting for you to show up.” Then he moved his fingers to the swell of my breast.
My pulse raced.
My chest heaved.
My skin burned hot to his touch.
A gasp slipped my lips when his finger grazed my hardening nipple against the material. My toes started curling. My hands were forced into fists as I tried hard not to cup his head and crash my mouth into his.
“Just say a word, Storm, and I will give you what you want.” He teased my nipple, and he began cupping my breast. “Do you want to come round my finger or my tongue? I am dying to taste you again and feel you clenching around my cock.”
I bit my bottom lip. My clit began aching and pulsing as he pressed his bulge against me, and I felt my panties getting dampened.
“All you have to do is turn around and face the wall. I will raise your robe above your ass, pull your panties to the side, and take you right here right now.” He leaned his head down and whispered, “Are you wet, Storm?
I was turned on, yes, and so was he. His pupils darkened, and his face flushed, but he would not get what he wanted. Not tonight. I couldn’t let my lust take over my brain.
“Don’t.” I held his hand, pulling it down. “You don’t wanna do it. Yes, I missed you. I missed us. I want you and always will. I’m not sleeping with you until you have forgiven me. Sex is sex, and it was good between us, but it would mean nothing to you when you slept with me while you were still mad at me. And after all, we are still bound to the contract.”
He cupped my cheek. “There you go, sweetheart.” He then kissed my cheek, stepped back, and went back to bed.
This time, I smirked. “You don’t mind if I join in bed, right? After all, I am your lovely fiancée.”
I thought his jaw just dropped on his lap.
