As the sunlight hit my eyes, I slowly opened them. I lay down on the bed, unable to stand because I felt like something hit me.
‘What time is it?’ ‘I feel like I’ve been sleeping for a long time.’ As I helped myself to my feet, I muttered to myself. I have a strong feeling that my body will succumb to exhaustion. My ears turned bright red as I remembered what had happened last night. My private area is also in pain.
“Err… Ugh.” I moaned as I sat up and leaned against the bed’s headboard. My body was also exhausted, and my throat was dehydrated. I’d like to drink some cold water. My body was also trembling from the pain. I feel like I’m getting beaten up. My veins are all throbbing.
But my main concern is where Randall is. The room was quiet; the window was open, but there was no Randall beside me. My eyes began to swell with tears. ‘Is that all?’ ‘It seems to him nothing happened, and he left without waking me up?’ I think to myself. My chest tightens because I feel like nothing happened to us.
I hugged my knees as my tears fell. Because my face was resting on my knees, they were already wet. I couldn’t stop crying because the sobs wouldn’t stop. When the door opened, I was about to get up and go to the other room to pick up my clothes.
“Are you still sleepin-” Randall pushes open the door. “Hmmn…” He hadn’t noticed me at first, but when he did, his eyes widened quickly. He was wearing boxer shorts and had one hand holding a knife and the other holding a doorknob.
“WHAT ARE YOU CRYING?!?” He dashed towards me, unsure where to place the knife. He tapped my shoulders, causing me to look up. “Is it painful? Is it because it hurts so much?” He gently shook both of my arms. “PLEASE ACCEPT MY SORRY. I WILL NOT DO IT IF YOU DO NOT WISH. I WILL NEVER-”
Because he was restless, he didn’t complete the final phrase he had to say because my slap had already fallen on his face. He was taken aback by what I did, but that only made me cry more.
“You!” I smacked him again with the pillow that was close to me. I hit him many times, but he didn’t fight back, though I could hear his moans.
“Ugh …! Ouch ..! Baby W-wha … Ugh.” Now I took another pillow and hit his head. Now he is holding his hand on his head so that I can’t hit him.
“I thought …” I cried even more. Is this how you make me cry? Where did my courage go last night? It was as if my anger was a virus and Randall was the vaccine. “I thought you left … because … because … you didn’t like what happened.” I sobbed again and covered the pillow with me. In less than a few seconds, the pillow is now soaked with my tears.
“What? Where am I going?” He’s now sitting on the floor, clutching his jaw as if it’s dislocated. I’ll confess that he has the hottest look in that position. I also had a peek at his legs in the center, which were even swollen because he was only wearing boxer shorts. He grinned and rose from his seat when he noticed where I was gazing.
He leaned in and kissed my neck briefly before hugging my side. “I’m not leaving; if I do, I’ll simply go to the building. Were you concerned about what occurred to Charlotte and me at the office? I’ve already told everything to you.”
I turned away from him and glanced into the mirror, where we could see our position. It feels wonderful to be embraced in this way. I hope it stays like this forever, that it never stops. “However, according to the internet, the guy who cheated will never confess it, especially to his wife. They will not acknowledge or apologize until they are caught.”
“You know you should avoid reading anything on the internet because what is the incorrect information that is provided to you?” He rested his chin on the top of my head, and I rested my head on his chest. I even pounded on his chest.
We were simply fooling around when we smelled something burning. We initially assumed that power was on fire, but the odor grew worse.
“What is that?” I inhale the air as if the smell is there.
I was surprised when he abruptly jumped up, and his eyes flared. He grabbed the knife he’d been holding earlier before bursting out laughing and walking out, “That’s what I’m cooking!” He almost slipped as he stepped on the pillow on the floor.
When he was gone from my sight, I chuckled. I stood up and walked into the bathroom. I smiled at myself in the mirror. ‘At the very least, you don’t appear to be walking in the mirror anymore.’ I’m relieved that my thoughts were condensed in some way. There are many more questions on my mind, but all I can do is wait till I get the answers one by one. All I can think about is why Randall is angry with Aunt Helena and Archer if he is a part of the arranged marriage.
He was already serving food when I walked downstairs. I was dressed simply in denim shorts and a white T-shirt. Bacon, eggs, hotdogs, ham, and corn soup were on the table. There’s also fried rice, which I assume he overcooked if only the two of us will eat. He was dressed in an apron and looked sexy. Even if you put a rag on this dude, he will look stylish. He grinned when he saw me. I rolled my eyes when I realized the maids still hadn’t returned.
“How come the maids aren’t here?” I couldn’t ignore the question any longer. He drew the chair and motioned for me to sit, so I did. He arranged food on my plate.
“First, I took them on vacation. There isn’t much to do besides watering the garden.”
“What do you mean? Should they be sent home?” I took the spoon and fork as he began to sit in front of me, removing his apron.
“No. Vacation. I booked them a hotel on a beach so they could rest.”
“Oh. Okay.”
We were quiet, and only the sound of cutlery and plates could be heard. As I was eating, I thought of the box I saw yesterday so I asked him that and didn’t look up.
“What happened to the package that was given to me last night?” He got up and took it while still eating. There was no more blood and this new box when he placed it next to me. But the decapitated doll and knife remained. When I took up the knife, I saw it was folding. When the folding knife was entirely open, the black paper came off. When I opened it, there was red ink, but my anxiety was heightened when I saw the familiar line I had previously read.
“The secret hides in the past.”
