Author’s POV
Malcolm and Nancy met at a restaurant that was close to Nancy’s house.
After placing the order of their dinner, Nancy mustered up the courage to speak to Malcolm and said “Malcolm, about your proposal I have thought a lot but before we proceed I want to know a few things, I don’t know anything about you? And I want to know why you want to get married to a mother, will your family agree for this kind of marriage?” she said while putting her hands on the table
Malcolm was listening to her patiently, once he felt she was done he spoke “Ok, so my name is Malcolm White, I am an orphan who was adopted by Whites, they had adopted me when I was of 8 years because they didn’t have a baby of their own, but after two years of my adoption my younger brother Mark was born and things started changing.
I was treated like an outsider day by day, so once I was eighteen years old I left my house and shifted to Texas and White’s also didn’t stop me as if they were waiting for me to leave after shifting to Texas I started my business along with my studies. I run a restaurant chain named MWF. I met Chris when I was in college, we met during an inter-college football match and since then we have been friends.
I was planning to extend my business here in Houston and Chris was doing the background work on it but unfortunately, he met with an accident and fortunate for me to meet you he said smiling a little as if he was blessed to meet Nancy.
Now your next question about my family agreeing to my marriage, so Nancy now I only hold the surname of Whites, I was not in contact with them after I left for Texas and they also never contacted me, so technically I don’t have any family. He said the last line with a bitter smile as if he was in pain to remember those memories, but still, he managed to smile and continued.
And now your last question about marrying a mother, Nancy I love you from the bottom of my heart and for me, Angie is part of you and anything associated with you I will accept it happily he said smiling and his smile was genuine.
Nancy always pretended that she is very strong in front of others but after listening to Malcolm she was not able to hold her tears and tears started rolling down her cheeks. Malcolm was startled to see her tears and asked her in a worried tone holding her hands which were on the table “Nancy, what happened tell me, why are you crying. Nancy, please don’t scare me please talk to me”
Nancy replied in between her hiccups “Malcolm…I ….. I am… rea…really sorry.. to …make .. you remember all your worries ” Malcolm understood that she is a very fragile person from heart. He smiled and said “Nancy, that is past and it is gone, so don’t worry about it” After some time Malcolm was able to coax Nancy.
Nancy went to the restroom to wash her face after she came back, their food had arrived, they had their food silently and after finishing food Malcolm asked Nancy for a walk initially they walked without saying anything, on the footpath of the road.
Nancy broke the silence and said “Malcolm, I agree”
Malcolm was not able to believe his ears and he hugged Nancy immediately feeling very happy and said “Nancy… thank you so much”
Nancy tried to free herself and said: “but Malcolm I will need some time…i.. mea.. you …you know ..” Malcolm understood her discomfort and said with a huge smile “we have our whole life. I can wait for you till the last breath of my life” Nancy smiled at him.
Owen’s Office
Owen called Luke and asked in an annoyed tone “it’s been a week and you haven’t given me any information” Luke replied “Boss, something is not right, we are not able to fetch out any information of Miss Nancy, I only got only few information that I am mailing you”
Owen frowned and asked, “what do you mean by something is not right?” Luke replied “Boss, someone is hiding Nancy’s information purposely,” Owen thought, who could it be?
Owen didn’t say anything and hung up the call and started to check the mail from Luke which had basic details of Nancy like she completed her graduation from Houston and left for NY.
Owen was going through the details when his phone started ringing, he picked up the call immediately and said: “what’s the update?”
The person who called him was one of his men whom he had asked to keep an eye on Nancy.
When his men were informed about Malcolm’s proposal and Nancy’s positive response, Owen was fuming in anger. He threw the phone on the floor, his phone was broken into many pieces and he mumbled with grinding teeth “Malcolm, I warned you, I told you she is mine but…. now…. you just wait and watch”
He saw other details of Nancy when he saw her address he smirked and said “Nancy baby, you are already in my claws”
House which Nancy bought and the whole locality was of Johnson’s and poor Nancy was not aware of it
Nancy’s house
Malcolm dropped Nancy to her home and asked her before she turned and left to enter the house “Nancy, I have a dinner party to attend tomorrow, will you please be my companion?”
Nancy nodded positively. Malcolm smiled and said, “ok tomorrow a designer will bring your dress in the afternoon and I will pick you in the evening”. He walked closer to Nancy, took her cheeks in his palms and kissed her forehead. Nancy said “good night” and entered her house.
