Chapter Fifty-Two – Crazy thoughts.
Chris’s POV
What was I doing? I glanced at my mother and Vanessa by my left and sighed. Surely I was being driven by them again.
The Red Moon warrior came forward and bowed. “Alpha, there was an incident at Silver Pack. A Blue Bloom warrior was killed.”
Vanessa came forward. “What is a Blue Bloom warrior doing there? You all shouldn’t try to kill Rihanna, she’s a silver wolf.”
She turned to me to agree and I nodded. “How dare anyone try to kill her? Also, I gave a clear order not to!” I raised my voice.
The warrior looked down. “Blame the Blue Bloom Alpha. And one can’t get info on Silver Pack, the warriors are very active about spies.”
My mother sauntered forward and in front of the warrior, she held his chin and pulled it up. “Marcus, dear.” she called.
He looked up at her. “Yes, Luna.”
I rolled my eyes. She’d use her lead warrior’s daughter card to work the young man again.
“Find someone who can tell you the ins and out around that pack. If you must date one of the warriors, do.” Her voice was stern.
Vanessa chuckled, coming forward as well. “Find the most insecure of them, okay?”
Marcus nodded and turned to leave but halted. “We successfully planted someone at Black Rose but we know she’d be ratted out soon.”
I frowned. “Why? Don’t you send your best people there?”
“We do but they get caught and… killed, so very few spies agree to be sent there.”
Vanessa sighed. I hope she’s seeing reasons why she needed to be at Black Rose herself. She’d be the perfect spy for us at Black Hills.
“The last info the spy gave was that Alpha Jaden sent his warriors to aid Your Silver’s building and even visited her.” He said.
My mother turned to me, annoyed. “Isn’t this Alpha close to you? Why’s he close to Your Silver as well.”
“The spy didn’t speak like they were in good terms, I feel the Alpha was trying to keep a good relationship.” Marcus added.
My mother looked away from me and exhaled. “That’s a smart Alpha. Leave now and send back word on the Lycan. And hurry!”
Marcus bowed and ran out of the court room. Hearing my mother speak of the Lycan again sent shivers down my spine.
I didn’t really like her plans about combating the prophecy. Yes, I’d be ridding off the unworthy ‘new Alpha King’ but not with a ‘possible evil’.
And if she thought the ‘new Alpha King’ could be someone of less rank, why send a Lycan after them? Why can’t I handle him myself?
“You look unsure about something. A King should never second guess himself, Chris.” My mother’s voice broke my thoughts.
“I am second guessing your plans not myself, mother.” I replied, leaving my throne. If their plans are going well, I should go rest on my bed.
My cold empty bed, I never knew I’d miss Sasha’s presence. I turned back to my mother. “And news on Sasha?”
“Some say they saw her shop in the market with a wagon. She headed back to the castle so we are looking around the castle for her.” She said.
Sasha rarely used her wagon, unless she was buying a lot of stuff and she usually took some maidens with her.
Why was that day any different and she also disappeared? And, it correlated with Your Silver’s visit.
It was beginning to bother me that my pregnant Luna could have been hurt by my ex-mate. But what would Your Silver be trying to prove?
“Fine, keep on the look out. I’d go have some rest.” I said to her and turned away, heading to my room.
I hadn’t even opened the courtroom door, when someone walked on from the other side. It was a guard rushing in, panting.
“Alpha! There are legion of warriors outside the palace. They are with the Black Rose Alpha’s staff!” he shrieked.
My mother and Vanessa went backwards slowly. What did they mean by bringing warriors to my palace? And my lead warrior allowed them?
Where was Cara? Did she give herself a suspension with her mate? What wasn’t happening?
I had so many thoughts running through my head as I awaited the warrior that’d make the first move here.
Did they realize that there supposed to be a new Alpha and it wasn’t me? I felt so insecure. And why would Black Rose be the first to rebel?
My mind went back to how Your Silver had been nicer with Black Rose, were they friendly without my knowledge?
“Alpha King!” it was Jake’s voice. I frowned, he was the last person I wanted to meet when being humiliated.
He rushed to me, wearing armor. My claws were ready to come out if he dared hurt me but he calmly walked to me.
“Alpha King, we are here!” He made a small bow. It was the first time he was making a voluntary bow to me.
My Delta walked in with me and I calmed down, looking at them both and wondering if they were going against me together.
“Alpha King, Black Rose is the first pack that responded to the search for the Luna call, only that they came here.” My Delta smirked.
Jake pouted. “I wasn’t at the pack when the order was passed so when I heard I brought my warriors here.”
I sighed in relief. I had completely forgotten about the search of the Luna call. No pack had responded to it, except now.
Black Rose was really fast in responding to my class, it impressed me. My earlier thoughts mocked me and I sighed relieved again.
“Thank you for coming. It’s good you came here, my Luna will be around here.” I said to him. My Delta nodded and left.
Jake nodded understandably, “I hope you aren’t so worried. You know women, she must have taken a vacation somewhere.” He smiled.
Was he being nice because he thought I was emotionally affected by her disappearance?
I wasn’t much, I bothered more about my baby. “I hope it’s a vacation.” I smiled back at Jake.
My sister came forward and bowed. “When I heard you were with warriors, I thought otherwise.” She chuckled.
Jake had a confused expression. “You thought otherwise?”
I glared at Vanessa and she looked down, thinking carefully of her next reply. “I mean, I was thinking something else. That’s all.”
Not the best reply, I pushed her back and ushered Jake forward. “Let’s go on the search.”
I noticed Jake smirked and I asked. “What?”
“Your sister is quite dumb, Alpha King. It must be annoying.” He adjusted his armor.
He didn’t mince words nor recheck them when he spoke.
I changed the subject. “Do you know if Your Silver is involved with my Luna’s disappearance.”
“If she is, will you blame her? Can you stop her?” Jake shook his head.
I stopped moving along with him, his words replaying in my head. What did he mean by that?
