Alexander POV
I persist to look out the window from time to time, but she was nowhere in sight. I glanced down at my wristwatch, she had spent over thirty minutes in the lavatory, what could she be doing? Without any further resistance, I came down from the car and strode back into the lunchroom. I’ve been here a few times, so I didn’t bother to ask for directions. I cornered around the alley then after a few more walks, I arrived at the restroom. There were two doors and there was a tag on both of them, one was for men while the other were for women. But strangely, I was hearing faint outcries coming from one of the doors. I took a footstep back, then realized the doors were soundproof. My expression darkened as I made to knock on the female door, but suddenly, the door swung open then a man flew out from the restroom, pushing me out of the way. I took a few steps back, then regain my balance. The door was now wide open, revealing Kiara. She was sitting crouched in a corner, her hair was in a complete mess. Again, she was whimpering silently. Panicked gripped me as I quickly went inside, “What happened here, Kiara? Why are you like this?” I questioned, my heart throbbing wildly. She continued to sob, lowering her head, causing her long hair to cascade forward and cover both sides of her face like a curtain.
I moved closer to her in a crouch, brushing her hair away from her face. In the process, I caught a glimpse of some area of her white and slender shoulder, it was exposed. Meanwhile, her dress was clothed adequately earlier, there was no area showing part of her body. I grabbed her arm and took a close look at it, it was then I realized that her dress was ripped vaguely. My heart shook violently inside my chest as the presence dawned on me, a man had flown out of here just now whereas, this was the female toilet. Rapidly, I ran out of the toilet, pursuing the direction he’d just flown. “Security!” that was all I could shout as I ran, I got out of the building and saw his back, hopping inside a car. Thankfully, a few men wrapped in a security uniform were now surrounding me. I ran after the car with the securities running after me, “Call the police, you fool” I shrieked then stopped running to look at their dumb faces. “You must capture that car,” I glanced at the car then back to their faces. The car had zoomed away, wouldn’t be easy for anyone to catch by just legs. Moreover, I need to go back to Kiara soon. “What’s it, sir?” One of them asked, panting like a dog. “He is a criminal so you better do the needful now because If that rascal escape with his crimes, then I promise you all, you are getting fired” I bellowed, my face blazing with fire.
The one I presumed as their supervisor gulped, then shifted back a little. “Aren’t you Mr. Alexander?” He asked, skeptically. “Now that you know who I am, don’t mess with me. Otherwise, you’re receiving your letter tomorrow” I said with outrage then turned away and left their midst quickly. Arriving back at the eatery, there were a few crowds at the entrance, some of them are the reporters. I wandered through them but was caught by one of them, “Mr. Alexander, please excuse me. Just a moment” I didn’t even turn to spare he or she a glance as I ascended the small staircase at the entrance. The securities strutting at the entry moved away quickly immediately they saw me. I practically flew back to the restroom. On getting there, there stood two ladies, dressed in a uniform. They were both surrounding Kiara, “Just move away and get out of here” I howled at them, pulling off my suit and draped it around her. “The manager will be here soon” of them voiced out, pathetically. I just scoffed then wrapped my around her and walked out, passing by them. I was glad she had longed to stop crying, but she was still lowering her head, not willing to look at my face at all.
Outside the eatery, the quantity of journalists had increased within a short period of time. Damn! Holding Kiara, I glared at each and every one of them then yelled, “You better move out of the way, if you all know what’s best for you” The tallest man among them proceeded to walk forward in a hurry, but the security wouldn’t allow him, “Just a minute Mr. Alexander, don’t leave us hanging without answering any of our questions” He pleaded, and before I could say something, “It was so surprising to see you and a lady together in an eatery for the first time” He began, “Not only that, you were seen running after the culprit just a while ago. Mr. Alexander, apart from you being outstanding amongst other CEOs in the societies, it was said that you’re a playboy who can never love only to flirt around” A female reporter let out from the crowd. At this point, I was already fuming steam. There were a lot of cameras, clicking and shimmering to my face. “So, what do you intend to do with this lady? Is she also your plaything, or she’s different?” Another female interrogated, bringing forward her audio recorder. My temper flared in an instant, “She’s not a plaything, she’s my soon-to-be wife, you lily-livered idiot” they all gasped at once, staring at me with widened eyes. After I shot them another deadly glare, I took Kiara’s hand and began to walk past them. They seemed to all be astounded, as none of them could ask any further questions. Bunch of fools!
As soon as we got to where my car was parking, I opened the passenger door for her to enter. She quietly bent her body then got in. Furthermore, I also veered around then got behind the steering. I looked at her face, but she was not looking up, her face was bowed, like someone collecting her thought slowly. I sighed then put my hand on her thigh, still, she didn’t spare me a look. “It’s alright now, I promise he shall not go Scott free. The police are on it already” I persuaded, but she remained calm, not saying a single word. I breathe out deeply, unquestionably, she had been so scared in there, guessing no one would come to her rescue so soon. “I’m driving you home, can you at least tell me your home address?” I asked in a meek voice, rubbing my hand on her thigh. She peeked at my face, then pronounced her home address softly. I smiled and nodded, starting the engine.
Momentarily, I arrived at her residence with the aid of the map. I looked out the window, it was a bungalow, painted in blue color. I got down from the car and turned around to open the door for her. While she gets off the car, she adjusted my suit jacked on her shoulder. I held her and we both moved toward the gate, “Do you stay alone?” I asked her, “Yes” She replied almost immediately. Furthermore, I just hummed, then unlocked the gate from inside. Several seconds later, we were found in the cozy but gorgeous sitting room. “I’ll go change my dress now” She said warmly then disappeared into the passageway. As soon as she left my sight, I fetched my phone from my trouser, then placed a call through Mack. “You’ve got what you want, isn’t it?” I raised my voice a little, not liking Kiara to hear me. “I never meant it like this, believe me, it was just so surprising…” I shook my head then interrupted him, “Has he been caught yet?”
“No Alex, but the police are still on it” He answered, “The news is now unraveling, do you want me to stop it from spreading further?” He quizzed, I pursued my lips for a moment then finally answered him, “No Mack. I want the news to make it to the headlines tomorrow” I told him eloquently, “But Alex, you said something about soon-to-be wife” A glossy smile emitted on my lips, “She’s going to make a good wife, isn’t it?” My voice dropped to a more low tone.
