Amelia POV
Callie hooked her arm with mine as we both ambled to nowhere in particular, as if she was preventing me from running away. I smiled inwardly, “Amelia?” She suddenly called softly, then I raised my head to look at her, “When are you planning to come back?” She asked tenderly, her eyes had become moist. I managed to squeeze out a smile before wiping out my gaze from her tempting face, “I already shared the good news with Mom and Dad, they were both joyous to learn that you’re now in college, and they really want you back, and even Clare” I put on a self-mockery smile upon hearing Callie words, that was an open lie. Mom has always wanted me out of her life, so I’m certain she would never want me back in her house, besides, I see no reason to go back there, I’m fine now. “Amelia” Callie tugged my shirt, standing in front of me. I giggled, “Speaking of Clare, why haven’t I seen her around?” I purposely asked, she twitched her lips then answered, “She has been suspended for the past two weeks” My eyes bulged, “For… For what?” I sputtered, staring at Callie’s side face.
“Well, she got into a big fight” Callie replied plainly, my eyes widened more, and she chuckled, “Don’t tell me you’re surprised, you know Clare very well, don’t you?” I shook my head sideways, she would never change. I caught a glimpse of a bench, “Let’s sit there” I pointed at it as we both quickened our sluggish steps. As soon as we both sat down, Callie fixed her eyes on my face, expecting me to say something. I breaths out softly then called out her name, “Callie” She lifted her brows, looking at my face inquisitively. “Say it already, Amelia” She smiled, I put my lower lip into my mouth before speaking up, “It’s about your boyfriend,” I began, she nodded her head then muttered, “Desmond” I don’t care whatever his name is. “Does he truly loves you?” I inquired in a gentle tone.
“Of course, he genuinely loves me, Amelia, why do you ask?” I quickly shook my head, “Nothing, nothing at all, just curious” I gleamed, giving her my best smile. I don’t know why I had to bring up the matter again. “Are you sure?” She furrowed her brows, I nodded as I leapt to my feet, “I have a lecture soon, bye. We’ll always talk on the phone” I rushed my words in a row, after which I stopped and kissed her hair and with that, I strode away. “Take care of yourself, sister!”
I use my small shoulder bag to cover my face, to prevent the scorching sun from burning my face. Jeez, why are there no taxi in sight? Gosh, I feel so fatigue, I just want to eat and retired to my bed. Abruptly, a blue car sheer to a halt right in front of me, my brows furrowed as the black film on the car windows couldn’t let me catch a glimpse of who was in it. I moved my step backward, still looking from my right to left for a cab. The window rolled down and the next thing I heard was, “Hey, soft ass!” My eyes narrowed at him inside the car as the hand on my side clutched to my waist, what’s he doing here? “Come on, let me pay you back by giving you a ride today” He had a deep sneer embedded on his lips. I peeled my eyes away from his upsetting face, then took a few more steps away. Praying earnestly for a cab to approach soon. “There’s nothing attached, just want to help” I heard his voice at my back, and was surprised he had already got down from his car. I didn’t say a word to him, neither turn around to spare him a glance.
Suddenly, I felt a broad hand clasped my arm from behind, “Are you deaf, don’t you hear me?” He growled menacingly, clutching my arm tighter. “Let go of me now, you rascal!” I also scowled at him, struggling to lose the grip. “What if I don’t? Come with me now, let me give you a ride, nicely” His voice changed to a gentle tone as he watches my face. Anger swells through me as I flared up, “Are you planning to abduct me now? I’m not riding in your car, so let go of me now,” I screeched, punching his hand on my arm, but he didn’t budge as his dirty eyes sweeps around my face, “Well, it’s so bad I don’t take a no for an answer barbie doll, otherwise I would have let you go” My heart had begun to stimulate now, “Even your sister, she knows me very well, she would never say no to me. You can ask her” his forefinger caressed my cheek as he says these in an extremely low voice, closing the small space between us. I tilted my head to one side in disgust, and without reluctance, I kicked him very hard in his groin with my knee then took my heels immediately. “Argh!” He groaned in anguish, but then, I didn’t stop as I kept running faster. Shortly, a cab slowly approached my direction. I waved it to stop and rapidly got in.
After roughly ten minutes drive the car halted in front of the bungalow, I paid the driver in a rush and got down from the car, I looked from left and right tensely before proceeding to unlock the entrance gate. I climbed the small staircase then reached the doorstep, I heaved a massive sigh before pushing the door open. To my surprise, I saw a few maids, each of them hanging a picture frame on the wall. They haven’t noticed my presence yet, so I moved closer to them to see what they were attaching, my brows weaved one time, it was a man picture, a fair smoothed man, he has a sharp jawline and a tall nose. He had a cold and dispassionate look. “Who’s this?” I asked no one directly, as my gaze continue to linger on the pictures. He was not smiling in any of the pictures, he looks so tough. “Oh Amelia, you’re back” One of them said, but I didn’t even cast them a glance as I was so curious who this man could be.
“Oh, my darling” Upon hearing these, I quickly swiveled around. The voice belongs to no other person than her, “Granny” A glossy smile arose on my lips instantly as I went closer to her, she reached out and embraced me, “I missed you dear” I giggled, typical granny words. She disengaged from the hug first and held my jaw, “Hope school wasn’t stressful?” Granny inquired tenderly, I subconsciously shook my head as my mind drifted back to that lunatic, how do I walk in school now after what I did?
“That’s fine dear, here, look…” She held my hand as she pointed at the portraits on the wall. “That’s Alexander, my grandson” She said, a dashing smile glimmering at every corner of her lips. “Oh” I mouthed, “Your soon-to-be husband” My heart seized the moment the last words came out from granny’s lips. I tilted my head to look at her face, “Don’t mind me, I just want you to get familiar with his face before you eventually meet him” She further said, looking so fulfilled. I became highly strung up, but still pretending to look calm. My soon-to-be husband?
