Break Up with Nicholas

I sat down on a stool opposite the dressing mirror in my room. I stared at my reflection, contemplating if I should apply a touch of makeup or not. ‘You’re coming with me to a party this evening,’ My eyes shut on their own as those specific words reeled through my head again. Sincerely, I feel so bad about the whole thing, I feel terrible as to I should have just agreed immediately when he had requested. I felt my subconsciousness taunted, yeah it was not a request, though. But then, I shouldn’t have said no to him, he’s my boss. And Nicholas is your boyfriend, my subconsciousness countered,, and I could feel she was already sneering. I rolled my eyes then brushed down my hair with my fingers. I pushed back the makeup kit on the dressing table then rose to my feet, I’m not doing any makeup.
Furthermore, I footed out of the bungalow to behold Nicholas, his butt was resting against the car passenger door. A cute smile emerged on his face as I moved toward him. As soon as I approached him, he circled my waist with his arm and deposited a wet but quick kiss right on my lips. “Vous êtes belle(You are beautiful)” He whispered softly, blowing out air to my collarbone. I pulled out effortlessly from his grasp, “Can we get going now?” I asked him with a small smile on my face. He giggled then raised his hands in surrender, “Of course, My lady” He moved away thereafter, then opened the passenger door for me to enter. I bent my body and got into the eye-catching car. After I settled down on the passenger seat, Nicholas veered around and got behind the wheel. He stirred the car engine and galloped into the road at once. I relaxed my right arm against the window sill, which was holding my chin as I stared out the window, with many thoughts jogging through my head. There was an awkward silence, and I quite appreciate the fact that Nicholas was not trying to break the silence.
In what feels like thirty minutes drive, the car sheered and halted in front of a building. The neon lights outside the building were still flashing. There was a row of luxurious cars parking at the entrance. Speaking of the cars, I think I saw a particular car, which looks like Alexander’s. I turned to Nicholas, who was already unbuckling his seatbelt. “Do you think my boss would be here tonight?” I asked him, inquisitively. He stared at me for two seconds, “I don’t know, maybe” He replied coolly then proceeded to get out of the car. I ignored his impersonal response, picked my clutch on my thighs, and also came down. As I got down, the natural breeze hit my skin, eliciting a warm smile from my lips. I love the feeling. “Come on, let’s go” I looked in my left side, he was stretching forth his hand. I slipped my hand into his and we both began to walk away.
We arrived at the sumptuously decorated hall, some people were seated while a few of them were standing with their companions, toasting and chattering with one another. “Let’s get you a table first, I still have some other things to construct” My brows zigzagged as I watch his face in astonishment, “You have some things to construct at a party, really?” He laughed softly as he took my hand, “You wouldn’t understand babe, and remember I told you it’s a business party” He said soothingly. I rolled my eyes, and before I could utter another word, he was already pulling me.
“Really Nick, so you’re leaving me all by myself at this long table?” I practically shouted then he held my hand on the table, “I’ll be back in a moment Kiara, don’t you trust me?” I retracted my hand from his hold, looking into somewhere else. And without a single word from him, he left the table. I blew out a deep breath as I watch from my left to right, there was no one at the table, just me and my ears. This was really a bad idea. I fetched my cell phone from my clutch in an attempt to entertain myself. “I really appreciate your presence, Mr. Alexander” What? Alexander? In a swift, I lifted my head from my phone to see him getting close to the table, gracefully.
Instantaneously, it felt like there was an electric current that flow into my blood towards my cheeks, which caused them to boil up. A not too old-looking man was right beside him as they got closer, with a fulfilled smile plastered on his lips. He hasn’t seen me yet, he was darting his gaze around the whole place. I gulped dreadfully as I quickly switched my gaze to the other viewpoint. My both palms had become clammy, “Please have your seat” The man said again, “Thanks, Mr. Harold” I bite my lower lip, he’s really here. “Excuse me, Miss” I heard the same man’s voice, my inner mind told me that he was referring to me, but I refused to turn my head. I promptly drooped my head, pretending I was readjusting my heels. “Hey Miss, under the table, I’m talking to you” I shut my eyes tightly, I opened them almost immediately then slowly heaved my head up, facing the man. “Me?” I put up my brows, pointing a finger to my chest. “Yes, you. Who invited you here? I’m sorry, but you can’t sit here” The man said plainly, I opened my mouth to talk, “Let her be, Mr. Harold” His baritone voice beat me to it, I gradually diverted my gaze to his impeccable face, only to catch him staring at me back. “Do you know her?” Mr. Harold asked him, tentatively. Without snatching his gaze from my gaze, “Yes Mr. Harold, she’s an old acquaintance” He replied, emotionlessly.
My heart throbbed awfully, acquaintance, really? “Oh, it’s fine then. I’ll be right back” The man announced and scuttled off instantly. All this while, we both still held each other’s gaze, none of us was willing to wipe out from the gaze first. “It’s so good to see you here, Miss Kiara” I voluntarily flicked my gaze to his left-hand side, to see Felicia sitting beside him. Her ebony hair was styled in a French twist, the delicate makeup on her face made her look like a female raccoon. I nibbled at my lower lip, in an attempt to stifle my laughter. “Oh Miss Felicia, never knew you were here all along” I said surprisingly, then she sneered. I also sneered back, bitch.
With my clutch clasped in my right hand, I estimated my paces in the silent hallway. The crystal chandelier which was hanged down from the center of the ceiling illuminated the place and looked dazzling. Everywhere looks so beautiful.
I continued my pace while admiring every bit of the surroundings. “Where are you heading to?” His impersonal and cold voice caused me to retreated my steps. Just like Nicholas, he also left the table after some moments he arrived. And now, he just showed up like a lookout. I breathe out softly, then slowly turned around to face him. He was standing a few meters away from where I was standing, he was clad in a well tailored slim fit black suit, his hair was neatly combed backward, elucidating his breathtaking face. I’m confident this man isn’t aware of his beauty. “Just walking around, sir” I replied simply, like his presence wasn’t having a great effect on me.
He put forward a step and began to walk closer, “I supposed your satisfactory partner brought you here, even though I haven’t seen him around” His tall frame crouched above me as he shot me a cocky smile. I fixed my lips into my mouth, avoiding his gaze. I’m never forgiving Nicholas this time around, he has been gone for a good two hours, and he hasn’t returned. Now, I’m going to look like a fool in Alexander’s presence. I met his gaze then said, “You’re right sir, my boyfriend brought me here. He has some things to take care of that’s why you haven’t seen him around” I told him gloriously. His face grew murky but was quickly replaced with a mischievous smirk. “You really love your boyfriend, don’t you?” He questioned, as he ambled to my back. I didn’t say a word, “But how about me, what do you feel for me, Kiara?” He picked a strand of my hair at my ear, twiddling it at his finger. My heart was not calm as it seemed anymore, I proceeded to move away, but he grabbed my hand and effectively twirled me back into his chest, burying his face into my neck. I muffled a moan as his lips caressed my collarbone to my nape. “Break up with Nicholas” He murmured, immediately, my eyes widened in surprise.
