CHAPTER 64: A TEST.
TWO DAYS LATER.
Ben walked into the university dressed in black and white shoes. He didn’t look that handsome to have caught the eyes of the ladies there but his appearance made everyone turn their heads at him, wondering who he could be. Anyway, it was a free day for visitation this time around since the school had been making proper plans to stop outsiders from getting in. Now students had to show their ID cards and have them scanned before leaving. The responsibility of a child is in the parents’ hands, the school only has little to offer.
Ben’s eyes were searching for one person in particular. There were a lot of students around, how would he be able to find him? Nevertheless, he continued his short journey, passing through the majority of well-dressed students that smelt of riches.
He chuckled scornfully. During his time, he could hardly stand on his feet without Kira’s help, the school always had a heightened reverence towards the wealthy while people like him were meant to do the dirty job. For the past two days, he had been trying to get a hold of Kira. He called her number using different lines but still, she would either neglect the call or end it before he speaks the whole of his mind.
It was now getting on his nerves and he determined that if he couldn’t get her then no one should. He was willing to do this, at least cause typical chaos in her life before leaving her to sort it out, that is if it was even possible to fix.
He stopped a female student and smiled at her, the lady found his smile weird and took a step back as she also found him not classy and disgusting with his appearance. Why did he look like the man from Home Alone part 1 that would occasionally come out at night to do an evil deed?
“How may I help you?” She asked him. Ben was embarrassed by her sudden reaction when he stopped her but he masked it.
“Please, do you know where Richard could be?” He inquired.
The lady frowned when she heard this, “Richard? Which Richard are you talking about? There are many Richards in this school.”
“Oh, I am sorry. I meant the famous Richard Gulf.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah, do you know where he might be?”
“Find where the basketball arena is, there is a high chance of him being there or the library could be a perfect spot. He has been catching up a lot lately on his course…”
“Thank you.” Ben cuts in. He wasn’t prepared to listen to the whole lecture but the girl stopped him. She looked at him from his toes up to his head in awe.
“What relationship do you have with Richard?” She couldn’t help asking. Ben smiled and just walked away.
“Well, isn’t that strange? When did he start getting himself involved with dudes like him?” She asked herself and then shrugged it off her mind.
It wasn’t easy finding the basketball arena as easily instructed by the lady. It took a while for him, the students kept giving him different directions, and to make matters worse, there were different basketball arenas and he was told that each arena was for each department. He was clueless about the department Richard was in and no one was helping with the name. Was he not famous in school?
When he was asking around, he met with Lucinda who stopped him after listening to his questions with another student.
“Excuse me, who did you say you were looking for again?” She asked.
“Richard Gulf.”
“Why do you want to see him?”
“I have my reasons.”
“You could just tell me.”
“And who are you?”
“I am his girlfriend,” Lucinda said proudly. Ben looked at her and chuckled. So the dude had his share in ladies as well, especially pretty ones?
“Can you just lead me to him?”
“I can’t unless you tell me who you are and what you want to see my Richard for.”
“Good then. Since Richard has you as his girlfriend, I need to tell him to let go of Kira, my girlfriend. He just can’t be dating the two of you together.”
“Kira and Richard are dating?” Lucinda asked, why was she not surprised. But confirming it right now somehow had a thing within her.
“You were not aware. I am Kira’s boyfriend but lately, she is not giving me any face just because of that brat so I am here to warn him to stay off my girlfriend.”
Lucinda looked at him just like the girl did earlier before shaking her head in pity.
“I can’t blame Kira for wanting to step up her game…I mean her past game was pretty bad but she shouldn’t step it up with my boyfriend.” She commented.
Just like that, Richard arrived carrying his bag in his right hand while the left was holding onto a book. He paused in his steps when he saw Ben before continuing to walk but Ben stopped him. He wasn’t going to get away from him that easily.
“Mr. Richard Gulf, I am here to have a conversation with you. It’s short and straightforward.” He said.
Richard looked at Lucinda who raised her hand in the air, insinuating that she didn’t know who he was.
“What are you doing here?”
“I have nothing much of you to do for me other than this request of mine…just one request! Leave Kira alone for me. She is mine, not yours, she doesn’t love you but only me.”
Richard rolled his eyes, “Are you done talking?”
“I bet you haven’t had a serious relationship in your life before and you believe Kira should be the person to start it with but she is the wrong fish for you. She can’t date you.”
“If there is nothing more, I will take my leave.” Ben held his hand.
“I am Kira’s first love, Richard and since she is your first love, you should know how important that is, right? You should know that memories cannot be erased no matter how. I still have an important place in Kira’s heart than you because we have been together for a long time through thick and thin. If I should call her and inform her that I am in danger, she would help me. Should we bet?”
“My girlfriend will never do such a thing. She won’t pick up your calls, even though you might have been her first love, you were that but not now because only I got to occupy her mind. She won’t even look at you twice.” Richard spat out.
“Do you want to bet it with me?”
“What’s the bet going to be?” Richard asked him back and Ben smiled. Today’s weather seemed to be a good day for him. Lucinda’s ears perked, whether they liked it or not, she wanted to be in this game. This could be her chance to erase all Kira’s charms on Richard.
“If she comes, tends to me, and allows me to kiss her then you will break whatever thing you have with her but if she doesn’t do any of that then I will cease to disturb you. Is that a deal?”
Richard thought about it, Kira was someone he could trust. He glanced at Lucinda, maybe this would be the time to show this slut that Kira was someone he was proud of and nothing like her.
“It’s a deal.”
“That is good then. Let’s exchange numbers so I can give you a location. Don’t worry, I won’t be threatening you. It’s after all for my girl.”
“Don’t call her your girl!” Richard warned him.
“Sure…sure, whatever.”
They exchanged phone numbers and Richard shot him a look before leaving the two people behind. Ben rolled his tongue, this should be fun to deal with. Lucinda then left, all through she was going to stick with Richard to know the end of this issue.

Vincent picked up his phone and dialed a number Erica had just given him. The phone was on a loudspeaker so that they both could hear it. The line kept ringing and was picked up after.
“Hello.” A squishy voice said. Vincent furrowed his eyebrows and looked at his niece in confusion. Was this how Evelyn was supposed to sound?
“Hi. Am I speaking with Evelyn?”
“No, this is her assistant, Stella.”
“Oh, I would love to speak with her if you don’t mind.”
“Sure.”
A few seconds later, Evelyn was on the phone.
“Hello. How may I help you?”
“This is Vincent. I was informed of you being able to prepare a well satisfactory cake. My birthday is next tomorrow and I need you to deliver the cake to an event center that I will tell you about right now.”
“Okay, what type of flavor…”
“Anyone. I am not picky and have no dislikes when it comes to cakes. Just impress me and I need you to deliver it yourself. I will keep you informed before then. Please don’t fail.”
“It’s alright. I will let them start working on your cake then. Thank you for calling.”
Vincent ended the call and looked at Erica.
“This is useless for my birthday.” He said.
“Well, it’s useless because you don’t eat much but it does not mean that others won’t eat. Thanks anyway. Step one has been achieved.”
“Don’t you think you should slow it down?”
“And let your father kill me? Nope, I am good with how fast my entire plot is. No time to waste. I need to get this deal done!” Erica said firmly and Vincent nodded, with no aim of stopping her again.
