CHAPTER 46: SAME ROOM.
Raphael slid the strands of Evelyn’s hair aside as it was covering her face. She looked so beautiful when she slept that Raphael didn’t mind getting lost in it for a while. The space between her eyebrows squeezed a bit and he rubbed on it gently to smoothen the part.
A lady walked in a few minutes later to inform him about their arrival in HY City.
“Thank you.” He replied. Raphael touched Evelyn lightly by her shoulder to wake her up.
“Evie dear, wake up. We have already arrived.” He said softly and Evelyn’s eyes fluttered open. She moved her body a bit on the chair and yawned.
Evelyn glanced at Raphael only to see him parking up.
“Have we arrived?” She asked him.
“Yeah.” He answered.
After the plane landed on its runway, everyone got off it and headed to be checked as expected. Evelyn looked around, this was her first time in this City and somehow, it was chilly in the air as she folded her arms and occasionally rubbed her palms to generate heat.
She faced Raphael when they were done.
“Why didn’t you tell me that the atmosphere here is different from our City?” She asked him as they started walking towards the exit.
“Aren’t you my assistant? Shouldn’t you have done your research before boarding the plane?”
Evelyn frowned, didn’t he say he liked her? So he should have made sure that things were convenient for her, what the hell was she even thinking? Evie didn’t say much and they continued walking to the crowds carrying placards with names written on them. Raphael waved his hand at a man who had his name written and the man smiled before walking over to meet them.
“Hello, Mr. Raphael.” He greeted him.
“Hello, John. It feels good to see you again.” Raphael responded.
“Same here, boss. How was your journey?” John asked. He collected the luggage that they had with them and led them out of the airport.
“It was just like any other journey that I have embarked on.” He shrugged.
John chuckled and opened the bonnet, he put the luggage inside before slamming it shut and by then the woman had entered the car. He winked at Raphael who only created a punch with his hand before entering as well. The car soon zoomed off.
As they were leaving, Evelyn’s had her eyes glued to the beautiful shops and people walking hand in hand. There were also uses of colors most appropriately to warm up the feeling of those around. Evelyn’s lips curved up as she closed her eyes, enjoying the fresh air caressing her skin.
John would look at the rearview mirror once in a while, his boss was lost in love as he could see hearts flying out of his eyes but why were these distant from each other? Was it an unrequited love? Was the girl not aware? He sighed and continued driving, trying to not get distracted by anything again.
“Do you need me to buy you anything from the street?” Raphael asked to get her attention.
“Do you eat a street meal or even stuff being sold by the roadside?”
“That I am rich doesn’t mean I can’t have these. I enjoyed them as a kid.” Raphael answered with a grin and Evelyn hit1 his hand lightly. The rest of the journey to the hotel was comfortable for her.
After driving for what seemed to be minutes, they finally arrived at the hotel.
“They seem to love colors a lot because the whole surroundings are colorful,” Evelyn commented.
“That is right. Anyway, this hotel is closer to the venue so it only makes sense if we stay here. Let’s go.” Raphael was about to wrap his hand around her waist but refrained. He still wasn’t comfortable letting people enjoy the free view of her and they might believe that she was his assistant.
Raphael’s face hardened. He would kill any man that dared come close to her. They stopped in front of the receptionist.
“Welcome, Mr. Raphael.” She smiled seductively at him and that made Evelyn cringe but she looked away because her facial expression could easily give her out.
“Thank you. Can I have the keys to our room?” He asked. The receptionist looked at Evelyn and wondered if they were going to stay there together. If so, what relationship did they share?
“Of course.” She fished out the key and handed it over to him. As they were about to leave, Evelyn still waited to get her key.
“Aren’t you coming?” Raphael asked when he had walked a few feet away from her.
“What about my key?”
“You and I are spending the visit in the same place.” He announced and Evelyn almost spat blood. Her face turned pale within a second and he used this moment to pull her away from the audience while John carried their things up the stairs. Until they got to their room, Evelyn was yet to recover from the shock but when he closed the door after appreciating John, she snapped back to reality.
“How can we possibly share the same bed and bathroom? No, Raphael, you have to get me another room.” She shook her head in disagreement and folded her arms against her chest as she spoke like an angry kid.
Raphael took off his jacket and clicked his tongue while getting closer to her. She eyed him and took a few steps backward.
“What…Raphael, what are you doing?” She mumbled.
“Unfortunately, my dear…” He caught her by the waist suddenly and pulled her so close that she hits his firm chest and she gasped.
“We have no choice but to be here together because the Chairman doesn’t know I have a female assistant. So he thought Jeremy was the one coming along with me and prepared it this way but it was you who had the time to come with me…there is no way we can change things. Just get used to it, by next tomorrow, we will be back.” He said, too close to her face that she could feel his warm breath fan against it.
They look into each other’s eyes and Evelyn’s heart beats faster than it ought to so that she couldn’t help gulping again.
Raphael removed his hand from her waist and walked towards the room.
“Moreover, I don’t plan to stay for long but if you want us to, I have no problem.”
Evelyn patted her hot cheeks and followed him with her luggage. Thank goodness she only packed a few things. On getting to the room, it was a massive bedroom that could contain three people and it was beautifully decorated. It had a glass wall that could give an attractive view of the HY City at night and there were artistic materials hung on the wall.
“Go and take a shower first, I will order our meal.” He suggested and went to the telephone placed on the wall to call reception.
Evelyn quickly took her things and rushed into the bathroom. Raphael almost cracked up; everything was a lie. He made things this way. He planned them so he could get close to her since she secretly enjoyed his presence.
Evelyn looked at herself in the mirror for what seemed to be the twentieth time in a row as she applied her cosmetics to protect her skin before coming out of the bathroom.
“I was wondering how much longer you were going to stay in there but I didn’t know you were dolling up for me, either way, you look more enchanting.” He blew her a kiss and entered the bathroom without waiting for her reaction.
“Seriously?” She whispered and stomped her foot once before answering the door. Their dinner was pushed in and the man left. Before Raphael came out, she already ate her fill of her dinner and went to sit on the left side of the bed.
The latter’s eyes opened wide in shock. Was she this fast or was there something else? Evelyn glanced at him and saw that he was shirtless, she quickly looked away. How could such a small thing make her heart stir this much?
Raphael calmly sat to eat, completely oblivious to the lady’s inner turmoil. He still found her behavior adorable and he couldn’t stop himself from smiling ear to ear. When he was done, he sent for the hotel staff to wheel the remnants away.
“Our sleeping arrangements…”
“We are sleeping on the bed…together.” He interrupted and sat on the ride side of the bed, dusted his feet, and lifted them only to be kept under the blanket. He turned off the bright lights, leaving only the dim ones. Evelyn did the same after a while and tried to put pillows in between but Raphael grabbed her hand before pulling her to lay flat on the bed.
He pinned her hands over her head.
“Raphael, don’t you dare do something stupid,” Evelyn said with a nervous voice. Raphael climbed over her with a legendary smirk, he got his face closer, their breath fanning against each other’s faces.
He looked into her eyes affectionately and then used the tip of his nose to caress the whole of her face as someone’s heart continued beating faster, it had to include dancing as well.
After doing this, he gave her the eye and his eyes ran from hers to her lips. He used his other touch and played with it for five seconds.
“Can I…kiss you?” He asked with a harsh breath. Evelyn blinked numerous times as she allowed the answer to sink in, there were no body parts within her that wanted to refuse him so internally yes.
“Hmm.” She agreed and Raphael placed his lips on hers, patting them open so he could gently suck on the upper one. She returned the same gesture as she sucked on his lower lip, both of them totally into it without a care in the world.
Evelyn flipped Raphael over, her hair was packed to a side and she bent to kiss him. He didn’t care and had his hands roam around her fair skin but he made sure not to go further than that.
Evelyn’s phone interrupted the moment after a few minutes and the kiss stopped. Raphael was dissatisfied because it wasn’t even up to a minute yet but he didn’t voice this out.
Evelyn got off him to answer the call which lasted about ten minutes before returning to bed. She cleared her throat and looked at Raphael with a tinge of embarrassment, she couldn’t believe that she climbed on him just to kiss him. Just great.
“Goodnight.” She greeted him and was about to turn to the other side when Raphael grabbed her hand and placed a kiss on her forehead with a smile.
“Have a nice dream.”
Evelyn nodded and covered herself with the blanket. Raphael’s spirit inwardly did a victory dance; he was an overcomer already!
