“You’re crazy” Maika mutters under her breath as she looks at her dad who was sipping from his drink in the patio located by the pool side behind his office building.
Darius looks at her for a brief moment then returns his gaze back to the pool, he let out a sigh when she came to stand in front of him, grabbed the glass from his hand and threw it inside the pool. He looks up at her with eyes that held anger and he certainly wasn’t ready for her tantrums.
“What are you going to do with him?” she asked but he didn’t answer, he just stares up at her and it made her so angry. “I am talking to you Mr. Darius Salazar, what crazy plans do you have for Massimo?” she asks again.
Darius sighs then stood to his feet as he towered over her while he put his hands in his pocket. He saw that she didn’t look intimidated with their position now so he opens his mouth to say something but he closed them back then shook his head and turned to leave her.
“I am not done talking to you,” she pulled him by his arm hard which angered him and he charged at her till there was no space between them.
He could see the fear in her eyes with the sudden move he just made and that brought a smirk on his face, he raised his hand and lightly caressed her cheek then pats it quite hard before moving away and turning his back against her.
“You will know when he is ready for use” he said then began his way inside his office building when her voice stopped him.
“You’re going to shape him like one of your heartless guards who is at your beck and call?” she chuckled nastily with a shake of her head and crossed her arms.
Darius turns to her with an eyebrow raised, he looks up from her head and down to her toe then back to her face. “You are one of them, remember?” he said and she hissed.
“Was, Mr. Darius… was. I am not like them, I am not at your beck and call and you definitely can’t turn this kind man to one of those…” she cuts herself when he moved closer to her and grabbed her by the arm.
“Remember one thing Maika, let this get stuck in your head that you are just like the rest of them, my puppets who answers to my beck and call. You guys have no one except me, only me had the power to change your lives for good and gave you the chance to live and have a great mind” he spoke those words with grit.
“Now, I don’t really appreciate you running your mouth and talking trash because no matter how much I call you special or my favorite of all these idiots, you are still one of them and that’s how I see all of you guys. Heartless idiots who listen to everything I say” his grip on her arm tighten and she winced in pain.
“Whatever I do with anyone isn’t your concern so just as I don’t get in your stupid business, you don’t get in mine, are we clear?” he gritted but she couldn’t answer, her mouth couldn’t get the words out of her mouth so he tightens his grip and she yelped “Yes”
He released his hold on her then stood straight and closed his eyes before opening them and flashing her a grin. He turns and walks away from her.
Maika watched him walk away from her and inside his office building as she rubs her arm that had his imprint due to how hard he held her. When he said those words to her, she felt hurt and it wasn’t how he said it that hurt her, it was how true his words were that hurt her the most.
She had always wanted her parents love but never got one because she grew up in the orphanage and whenever a couple comes to adopt from the orphanage, when they get to the final stage of having all paperwork done so that she follows them home, things change and they end up getting another child.
Maika always wondered what the issues were and thought maybe it was her, maybe she wasn’t meant to receive such love from parents, whether hers or not. Even the worker at the orphanage confirms for her by telling her that she wasn’t wanted by her parents and even couples with no children would rather stay childless than have her and it hurts her.
When Darius came in all his richness and looked at her then pointed to her as the kid he wanted to adopt, she didn’t feel anything because she was expecting the same thing to happen in his case but that didn’t happen to her surprise. He finished the paperwork and took her home that day.
She had cried tears of sadness most of her lives but that day when he took her to his house and showed her room to her, she cried but it was of joy. She cried so hard, her body shook, her eyes were swollen and it was as if she lost something but that wasn’t the case. She was happy that someone wanted her and it brought her spirit alive.
Soon enough, he started her training with some young folks like herself and when she asked, he said it was necessary to equip themselves from harm that might come to them in future, she received special treatment and he let her know it was because she was his daughter and that she was different from them.
Why then should she be surprised that he ends up reminding her about how indifferent she was to them. He hurt her and she didn’t want that for Massimo and that’s not because she’s in love with him but because she doesn’t want to see him be like one of them or better still like Darius. It would be a disaster if that happens.
She let out a sigh then walked away from the pool area towards her car with her mind made up.
“If you won’t let me in then I will find my way in” she said then started her car and left the compound when the guards opened the gates.

Darius watched from his office window as she drove out of his compound. He knew she was a really curious girl and if he wasn’t going to feed her curiosity, she would find her way to do so.
He gestured for one of his guards to step closer to him then her whispers some instructions to him before dismissing him and calling the other to check up on Gunfury and the training sessions with Massimo.
“He said he wants to speak with you” the guard whispered to him and handed him the phone.
“You wanted to speak with me” he said when he put the phone against his ears.
“Don’t you think it’s quite early to be asking about his progress? We’re just two months into his training” Gunfury said from the other end.
“And I remembered giving you six months to have my package ready, so I don’t think it’s too early to ask. Now tell me, how is it going?” he went to sit on his chair with his legs on the table.
“His training is going well, he is good at handling weapons”
“Now that’s what I like to hear,” Darius smiled “Tell me that he is getting heartless and only for my use?” he said.
“About that, I told you already th-”
“I don’t want excuses, I want result and I need them fast, am I clear?”
“Yes sir, I’ll try my best” he said then Darius hung up.
He took his legs off the table and sighs “I don’t think this will be as easy as I want it to be but so help me GOD” he said to himself then took his phone to make another call.
“She’s rebelling against us and wouldn’t listen to us” the man on the other end said and he sighs again then rubbed his forehead of the impending headache he was feeling.
“I’ll be there, just give me a moment and try to shut her up, I can hear those irritating whining from here” he said irritably.
