“Went to see them again?” Aiden asked when Dimitri came into his home in an all-black attire that were slightly drenched by the rain that was pouring.
They were preparing the project for their final year in the university, Aiden is quite aware with how loosely Dimitri is taking it and really isn’t looking forward to his dad yelling at him to stop his wayward ways and focus on graduating college at least. He was doing pretty well with helping his dad in his company but that didn’t stop them from worrying about him.
Dimitri would sometimes disappear and after a few days or a week, he will be back like he never left then go ahead with his work or school work. Aiden was aware of how Dimitri would spend almost the whole day at the cemetery crying and saying all his wishes to his brother’s grave, Pricilla and her daughter’s grave too.
He tells them that he is fine and they should have nothing to worry about concerning him since he wouldn’t go back to drinking himself to a pulp but they all knew he isn’t okay deep down.
“How far are you with it?” he nods to the stack of books on his living room table then stopped in his track when he saw a golden-brown haired girl sleeping on his couch. He couldn’t see her face because her hair was over her face.
“I’d say eighty percent” Aiden shrugged then yawned and stopped when he saw Dimitri looking at his sleeping friend. “Oh no, get your eyes off her, I don’t want you messing around with her” Aiden spoke defensively.
He wanted to ask if she was the girl, he liked but that wasn’t his concern now, he was tired and might probably catch a cold if he didn’t change from what he is wearing so he took a glance at her once more before walking to the staircase.
“Don’t worry, she’s not might type” he said loud enough for Aiden to hear and heard him scoff.
…
… Many years ago…
“Hey Lexi, make sure you get me my book tomorrow, I really need it” a black-haired girl tapped her shoulder and she turned to look at her and smiled.
“Sure, Patricia… sorry that I almost got you into trouble for not bringing it today” she apologized and Patricia waved it off.
“It’s fine, I can’t get mad at you, just make sure you get them for me… I’ll see you later, bye” she waved then turned around and left the classroom.
Lexi let out a sigh and rest her head on the table as she thought about today and what she was going to eat when she got home. Her mum has no plan on making sure that she’s is okay, even when her little brother passed on years back, her mum showed no sign of remorse or sign that she would change from her wayward and ‘I don’t care’ attitude.
She was always one to fend for herself and look out for herself, Patricia was from an okay family and she would sometimes bring her food but yesterday she asked for some more and didn’t expect that her mum would bring in her disgusting visitors and finish all the food Patricia gave her.
She and Hank are sort of separated and she has no plans on collecting anything from him even when he offered, she refused. He was the only one she let in on what’s going on in her family.
Telling Patricia or any other person about her mum was something she didn’t want to do, it was embarrassing and wasn’t something she’d feel comfortable letting out to people.
She was dead tired and had no strength whatsoever to go to work and work extra. Today isn’t her shift at the bakery she works in.
“I better just head there and probably get some bread to eat at least” she said to herself and lift her head from the table.
A little cry left her lips when she saw who was standing in front of her. She wasn’t even sure if it’s the person that made her scared or the fact that she didn’t hear him come inside and stand in front of her.
“Oh my GOD, will you stop that?” she asked then stood up and packed all her books from the table and putting them in her bag. She didn’t know how she got the strength to get up and move quick. Probably because he irritates her.
“Hi to you Lexi” he smiled then sat on the table and touched her arm but she flinched and moved a step back as she glared at him “How are you dear?” he asked and she gritted her teeth as she continued packing the books till she was done packing, slung the strap of her bag on her shoulder and made her way out of the class.
‘I should have left earlier, I should have left earlier’ she scold herself and hissed as she heard him walk behind her.
“I thought I asked you something” he held her arm and turned her to look at him and she tried to shrug him off her but he didn’t loosen his hold rather his grip tightened.
“Let go of me Darius” she said calmly but he didn’t budge as she tried to shrug him off her again “I said Let. Go. Of. Me” she pushed his chest and he held her wrist then brought her closer as he wrapped his arm around her waist.
“You’re so beautiful,” he whispered then leaned closer to her ear “Why don’t you let us be to-” he couldn’t finish his sentence because the air was knocked out of him as she brought her knee up in full force and hit him down there.
He released his hold on her and bent as he held onto his friend.
“Oww… you…” he groaned in pain and she hissed.
“I told you not to touch me” she said “Darius leave me alone for CHRIST sake, next time will be worse” she warned and turned to leave but he stopped her.
“It’s because of him? Hank? He’s the reason why you don’t want anything to do with me?” he asked then stood up and took a step towards her which she took one back. “Because of Hank, he is the cause of all this nonsense, he gets everything, everything I ever want, he gets it without having to fight for it like I do” he said with so much anger and pain.
“At least he isn’t a creep like you” she comments and he hissed in annoyance then came closer to her but she backed away “Don’t come near me” he stopped when she said so.
“What do I have to do? Anything Lexi, I’ll do anything just for you to like me, love me like I do, I love you so much Lexi, I really do… I am so obsessed with you and I can do anything to have you or whatever I want to myself” he said and she looked at him in disgust.
“That’s your problem, you’re never satisfied and you want everything, you’re so obsessed with whatever goes on in your head that you’re so blinded by what is actually in front of you” she spat at him.
“What exactly is in front of me?” he asked then took a step towards her which she took one back “I need you in my life, we have something great for us not you and my pathetic half-brother” he spat with so much disgust.
“He had everything, the money, the girls, everything I wanted, he got easily… I have to work my ass out for every little thing I have now” he shook his head and lean on a locker.
“I never grew up with my dad, it was just me and my mum and the bullying I got for not being wanted by my dad… even when my dad came for us after my mum’s death, it wasn’t as I wanted… all the things I wished for when I hoped for a rich dad never came to me, I had to suffer to get all good thing to me, I had to compete with Hank in everything even I didn’t get most of the wealth from dad’s will after his death. I am not going to lose you to him, never” he said and took another step towards her.
“No, you are greedy, so greedy… you were never satisfied with anything… you’re so obsessed with your greed that you’d do anything to get what you want even when it hurts others” she said as she remembered the night, he almost scarred her.
“If it’s because of that nig-”
“Don’t speak of it” she cuts him off.
“I am sorry, I keep telling you that, why can’t you let it go? It has been a few months since it happened” he hissed.
“I can’t, I can’t forget that and pretend it never happened”
“Nothing happened… your hero came to your rescue, remember?”
“And you didn’t think twice before you stabbed him… your own blood, you almost killed him and that was what led to your father’s death, remember?” she asked and his eyes grew cold and hard as she spoke of that.
He felt bad for what happened that day, he never thought that he would do something like that to his brother, he was remorseful then his dad chastised him for his actions and he spoke harshly to his dad which prompted his attack, he was sad but as he watched Lexi almost go mad because Hank was in danger, he slowly started to feel his conscience go dead.
He didn’t know how it happened but it happened gradually and he felt no remorse for whatever he did, he just needed to gather enough money to cover up for his actions and move on.
“He was stupid to have messed with me when I was mad, but let me tell you something, if I can’t have you then no one will and I will make sure of that” he said then looked at her from her head to her toe before hissing and walking the opposite direction…
…Present Day…
“She’s awake boss” the guard outside informed him and he nods then made his way into the dark room.
One of his guards flickered the switch and light illuminated the room, there he could see Lexi tied to a chair in the middle of the room with her mouth enclosed with a duct tape. Her unruly blond hair was everywhere and a bit damped, her green eyes held fear and anger in them as she stared weakly at the man before her.
He noticed a small injury at the side of her lips and a blueish almost red coloring on her right eyes that was slightly opened.
A smile slid on his lips as he walked towards her in slow steps then he stopped when he was a foot closer to her. His eyes went to her sweat damped face then down to her neck before it went back to look into her eyes that bore hate for him.
“Mmhhn!” her voice was muffled by the duct tape and he grinned.
“See, who has the upper hand now?” he asked and she groaned as she tries to get out of the chair, she was bound to but couldn’t due to how tightly they tied her again.
When they took her on her way to work, she had tried to fight them off and won when she was able to escape them but because they were many and big, they managed to overpower her and take her to the van they were to transport her in.
He went as far as sending a resignation letter to her place of work on her behalf so that no one will look for her and he can go ahead with his plans. He was desperate and wanted everything to go as planned.
When she was brought to the basement of one of Darius’s houses in far Asia, she also tried to runaway because of the fighter she was but they stopped her by slapping her across the face and give her right eye a blow then they tied her to the chair and left her in the dark room till Darius came around to see her.
Darius came closer to her and took the duct tape from her mouth which prompted her to groan before she threw insults at him in a mix of Spanish and Italian.
“I know you love me too, so don’t worry, I reciprocate the affection” he touched her cheeks and she tried to bite him but he was quick to get his hand out of the way. “I can see that you still have that fighting spirit in you, your special make tells it all” he comments and she watched him walk away from her.
He said something to his guards and they left the both of them alone with the door opened.
“Where is my son?” she asked and he turns around the gave a short laugh.
“Son?” he asked then walked up to her “Now you are aware that you have a son?” he asked and walked to her then stopped in front of her with his hands inside his pocket.
“You very much know my reasons for giving him away, all because of you I lost the people I loved and care so much about, you’re a monster” she spat at him and he rolled his eyes then walked around her.
“Don’t you think monster is a little too old, try something new for me baby” he said then lightly touch her cheeks from behind her and she shook his hand off her.
“Don’t touch me” she screamed and he quickly walked in front of her then placed his hand on the chair behind her head and pointed at her with his other hand.
“Don’t you use such tone with me” he said and they kept looking at each other before she quickly leaned forward and bite his finger which erupted a yelp of pain from. “Oww!” he yelled as he tried to get her to stop biting him and when she pressed deeper, her slapped her and she released her teeth from biting his finger off.
“You monster” she breathes as she looks at him with a really hard glare.
Darius held his finger and gave her a murderous glare before stepping away from her by a step of two.
“A fighter I saw in you years ago, that was why I fell in love with you but you foolishly went for my half-brother and ignored whatever feelings I had for you” he accused and she rolled her eyes as she looked away when memories of, she and Hank came rushing in her head.
She missed him so much and was so mad that he killed the love of her life because of his crazy fantasies about her.
“You’re definitely a crazy man, you’re still hung on what happened years ago? What kind of a sick psychopath are you? I have never loved you and you never told me about the love you had for me not until you heard that I was dating your brother and I was glad I felt nothing but contempt for you because you are sick”
“You’re the sick one, look who is alive and wealthy… me, yes, me” he pointed to himself and chuckled “Not dead Hank who has no fighting spirit in him” he said and turned to see her eyes welled up with tears. “Now I see where Cade gets his trait from, his weakling of a father… stupid and weak”
“You’re the weak and stupid one Darius Salazar, you are the stupid one, so greed and foolish, you’re greedy” she screamed at him.
“I told you not to use that tone on me”
“You don’t have the right to tell me what tone to use or you or not” she spoke at the same time as him and he glared at her.
“Well, it’s fine… no problem, I still have the upper hand here. I have your son and thankfully he is easy to break, just like his father… you’ll hear of him and how much he has changed from being that sweet boy you know” he gave her a once over before turning to leave.
