“I have been hearing the false allegations against me and because I don’t have the upper hands or proof is why I couldn’t defend myself and all these while you knew, you’ve been hearing it and you couldn’t call me up until now.” Anna berated, her chest felt tightened.
“Bullshit!” Allen yelled. “What else did you wanted that I didn’t give you Anna? Why would you go about doing shit with men, and not just men, staff like you in the office.”
“So you don’t believe me?” Anna asked.
“If it were you would you believe? It’s not just one or two person that has complained about, Anna everyone knows what you’re doing.”
“Allen, I’m not doing anything, I can’t do anything that stupid or degrading to ruin what we have.” Anna said, blinking back tears and trying to defend herself, out of frustration she ran a finger through her hair and sighed in defeat.
At this point, it was obvious that there was nothing she would say to make Allen believe her, this was really a tight situation for her.
“Allen?”
“Don’t come closer.”
“Please, listen to me.”
“I don’t want to.”
“Please.” Anna begged.
“Anna leave, I should have known better than you’re still living in your past.”
“I don’t understand.”
Allen looked at, straight in the eyes, “that a prostitute can never change.”
Anna wanted to say something but no words came from her mouth, her heart broke, it was as if the ground should open up and swallow her, she let the tears fall, blocking her vision of seeing the man in front of her clearly.
He turned his back at her clearly, he was angry, very, he rested his hands on the table, breathing heavily, he punched the table, and Anna thought she heard his knuckles broke, she wanted to hold him, to hug him from behind to make him calm.
Anna wanted to tell him to trust her and not believe what people are saying about her and that she wasn’t leaving in her past.
She wanted to tell him she loves him and he meant a lot in her life, but she didn’t, she retracted her step and just as she was about to leave, Evelyn entered.
Evelyn noticed the tension in the office and smiled sinisterly, she walked to Allen and placed her hand on his shoulder.
“Evelyn aren’t you tired?” He didn’t need to look back, her strong perfume consumed him and made him furious, he removed her hand and dropped it beside her.
“Who annoyed you?”
“None of your business.”
Evelyn smiled and raised a brow at him, folding her arms, “that bitch huh?”
“You’re the bitch, at least she’s not disgracing herself as much as you.”
It hurt Anna but still a part of her was happy he defended her.
“All i ever wanna show you is love and to make you love me.”
“Love yourself first, I don’t want you and I’d never want you.”
Anna sighed and left the office not waiting to watch more about the bickering between two ex lovers, she went back to her desk.
“So it’s true?” Evelyn scoffed, “that you love that whore?”
“Huh?” Allen cocked a brow at her.
“If you didn’t love her, why would you go as far as getting a sponsorship, and you both are more than very close.”
“How does that affect you if I love her?” Allen asked, her presence irritated him but he was onto something.
“We were once lovers Allen and I still love you, and I care a lot about you more than anything, I know I have my wrongs but I’m sure am better than the prostitute.”
“Call her a whore once more and I’d have you locked for harassment.” Allen threatened”
“Because I card for you…”
“So you have eyes and ears in my office?” Allen asked and Evelyn bites her lower lip.
“I see,” Allen started, “you’ve really passed your boundaries. So it was all false allegations?”
“I did it for you, for us.”  Evelyn said feeling smug with her attitudes.
Allen chuckled, he scratched his chin and drummed his finger on the table, he stood in front of Evelyn, towering over her, his figure intimidating and his eyes were raging, Evelyn knew she had overstepped but she would do anything to have this man whether he loves her or not.
“I..” she began, stuttering, “I.. I really.” She stuttered.
“Go on, I’m listening.” Allen said, his tone was dark.
“I should go.”
“No, you don’t have to.” Allen said.
“I’m sorry, Allen.” Evelyn apologized and he laughed.
“You’re not sorry Evelyn, you’re the real whore here and I’m pretty sure the Devil is setting your certificate of graduating with a  first class in wickedness in hell.”
“Why would you say such?”
“Only an evil person would do what you’ve done, it’s no longer selfishness.”
“I was only doing it for us.”
“Stop saying us, woman. There will never be an us.”
Evelyn moved closer to him, she caressed his cheek, “Just give us another chance.”
“Another chance, so you can kill me.”
“No..”
He cuts her short, “You’re a murderer, young lady.”
“I didn’t kill anyone.” Evelyn said, confused.
“Your actions are enough, it’s not until you kill someone with a gun or knife.”
Evelyn rolled her eyes.
“I’m pretty sure you’d have hired a hitman if your plans hadn’t gone through.”
“No.” She said flatly.
“How much did you pay your informants ? Twice as much as I pay them weekly.” Allen chortled, “those greedy ungrateful bastards.”
For a while, Evelyn forgot she was Allen was a smart and calculating with his thinking, it won’t take him long before he finds out the informant.
She was left with two options, either she sell them out to clear herself or she lets him do the findings.
“It’s Beatrice.”
“I know, and Thomas.”
“Yeah, they’re the top two, including Michelle.”
“You cause collateral damages In my company.”
“I know.”
“You lied on a few staff members and because of you and your minions, I suspended them for three months.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Evil people are never sorry.”
Allen went back to his seat and dialed for Beatrice’s, he told her to come with Thomas, Michelle and the rest that had reported Anna.
When they entered his office, the tension was high, Allen spin himself left and right  while playing with the ball pen in his hand, he looked at everyone in his office, chuckling.
“Beatrice? How’s your mother’s health?” Allen asked.
“She’s doing very well thank you.” Beatrice answered, feeling nervous.
“I believe that by now, you’ve acquired a lot of money from your boss,” he snickered, pointing to Evelyn who sat on the couch.
“I don’t understand.” Beatrice said.
“Under the roof of McArthur, my company, you’ve harbored evil, you’ve conspired against someone and alongside caused some people to be suspended.”
“I’m really sorry sir, she made me do it, I’m very sorry.” Beatrice said, apologizing, she was shaking and crying.
“Thomas, you can take care of your family now with the money you’ve gotten from your side hustle and you Michelle, You’re suspended for three months because I know your father and he’s a good man, leave my office, Michelle.”
“Beatrice, drop your badge, I’m calling the hospital once you leave, after your mother’s medical treatment for the year ends in a few months time, I think it’s just a month left, you can continue from where I stopped, because I’ve been nothing but a good boss and I’ve treated you like I would treat my own sister.”
“I’m really sorry, please forgive me, I have no other job and…”
“Save it Beatrice and leave McArthur, submit your resignation letter before the week ends.”
Allen made sure to fire Thomas too and suspended the rest.
His heart was sad.
“Evelyn, you can leave.”
Without saying anything, she scrambled out of his office.
