It’s been two months since Anna started working at the McArthur and it has been nothing but a great experience, asides the stress thy comes with it, Anna enjoyed working at McArthur, coupled with Allen’s grumpiness and arrogance.
If it wasn’t that Anna was a patient person, she’d have stopped working with Allen, aside that, she needed money to sponsor her basketball career and focus on other areas of her life.
As Allen McArthur personal assistant, Anna has learnt how to be act when in a tacky situation and how to go about asking and answering questions, she has also learned eye contact and silence treatment because her boss had showed her he’ll back and forth.
Thinking about her arrogance boss, he was a killer man, his physique and attitude had made it to be as if a woman can die for him if he rejects her love.
Speaking of a woman, Evelyn was a perfect example. Anna wondered how a beautiful woman like Evelyn, bbl intact, it was obvious she had spent a fortune to get and maintained that banging body, her lips that were usually clouded with peachy color of lipstick has two shape of form, like the lip filler wasn’t doing enough justice to her and Anna wondered if Evelyn couldn’t just give up on her lips and focus on her perfect ass and boobs.
And her face, the way it was structured was beautiful and make up suit well to add more to the beauty.
“Evelyn must be really spending a fortune on her body. Damn!” Anna thought.
With all of those physical attributes that Evelyn possessed, she could get any man she wanted, any man!
But why Allen.
Well, it’s always the want we want that don’t want us, sometimes. Anna thought.
But then, she still think about why Allen would reject someone like Evelyn.
She has witnessed it many times, when Evelyn would show up at the office, clad in tight fitting corporate wears and her make up were usually light, her heels making soft noises as she walked, greeting and waving at the McArthur staff with a smile, walking majestically to Allen’s office.
Anna knew that if not everyone in the company, at least most of them know about Evelyn showing up at the company and getting thrown out by security, and she still wouldn’t stop coming.
Another word for embarrassment?
Anna thought that maybe she wasn’t the type to feel bad about Allen’s character and since she works with the legal practitioners and aligned with McArthur’s company, it won’t be easy to tear her off easily.
Maybe Evelyn was thinking that one day, after many “thrown outs” Allen would finally fall for her and ta-da, happily ever after.
“Such a fairy tale girl.” Anna muttered in a low voice.
The elevator stopped dinging and there she walked out, wearing a grey fitted pencil straight skirt that stopped below the knee, a white chiffon shirt and grey jacket, her tiny heels in check and her bag and files in hand as she smiled at everyone including Anna whose office was inches away from her boss which is why she was able to see and hear everything going on in his office except if she chooses not to pay attention.
“Is he in?” Evelyn asked, looking nervous, knowing she was going to be thrown out the moment she step foot into the office.
“Yes, he is.” Anna answered, “do you want me to cal him?”
Evelyn was gone before Anna finished with the question.
“Hi Allen.” Evelyn greeted, batting her lashes and smiling at him, Anna strained her ears to eavesdrop, her colleagues urging her on.
Allen dropped his pen and looked up at her, Anna could hear him scoff and knowing her boss, he’s rubbing his eyes and glaring at her.
“Don’t you give up?” Anna heard Allen said.
“On love, no!” Evelyn answered softly and Anna felt for her, poor girl.
“How many times do I want to…”
Evelyn cuts in, “I know, baby it’s you I want, I promise with time, you’d love me too.”
“I can never love someone like you, Eve. You’re beautiful and there are other guys that would appreciate your love.”
Evelyn tried to get closer, but Allen held up a finger, “don’t come any closer.”
“Allen is there anything I’ve done wrong or I’m not doing right?”
“Eve, I don’t want you. Please leave before I call the security.” Allen said calmly.
Evelyn breathed out, Anna could hear her sniffling.
“Now!” Allen barked.
Anna heard her shuffling around, maybe she was arranging herself before leaving the office.
The environment was silent as all the workers pretended to be busy with their work.
“Evelyn?” Anna called, wondering what she wants to say to her, she took in deep breathing as the other woman walked towards her direction.
“Yeah?”
“You’re too beautiful to be chasing about an arrogant man. ”
Evelyn chuckled, “I know right.”
Anna smiled.
“Are you trying to make me feel better?” Evelyn asked.
“Do you feel better.?”
“A pinch.” Evelyn answered, demonstrating with her finger.
“Let him go and live your live.” Anna said, Evelyn hugged her and left.
The office phone on her table began to ring, Anna didn’t bother picking, she rolled her eyes and stood up, arranged herself, adjusted her pant trouser and black shirt and went to his office.
“I see you like to poke your nose in people’s affair.” Allen voice barked at her but it sounded soft.
Like he was trying to calm himself of Evelyn’s drama.
Anna rolled her eyes and looked away, Allen glared at her and hissed.
“Since you don’t have work to do, let me make you busy.” Allen spoke, shuffling through files on his table, opening files and putting it aside.
“Yeah,” he slammed his palm on the pile of files, “work through it, I believe I don’t have to tell what to do.”
Anna took a long look at him, pouting her face, she hasn’t picked up the files yet, eyeing the files and Allen.
“I was only trying to save you.” Anna deadpanned with a serious face.
“Okay supergirl! I appreciate the help.” Allen chuckled.
“I’m sure she won’t bug you again.”
“You don’t know Evelyn.”
“And you will keep throwing her out?”
“Would you be with someone you don’t feel anything for?” Allen threw her a dagger look.
“No, I won’t.” Anna answered. “Even though….”
“Anna!” Allen barked aloud.
“I’m leaving now.” Anna picked up the files and left.
She stood outside his door and gave the middle finger, throwing punches in the air frustratingly, “stupid boy.”
