LESLEY PERKINS’ POV
I wake up to the feeling of strong arms being wrapped around my frame. I flutter my eyes open and they meet with Gary closed ones. He was sleeping so peaceful, almost like a sleeping Angel. I gently raised my hand to caress his chin. Memories assailed my senses and a small smile worked it’s way up my lips. Gary was a stallion. Never had making love been so fun, so beautiful. Tears clung around my eyes. Out of reflex I snuggle closer to him and gently pecked him on the lips.
His eyes opens at that and we lock gazes for a second before his lips stretched into a smile..
“You should do this frequently. A kiss to wake me up.” I smile and sit up, gathering the covers close to my frame. This sheets was from the fountain. I guess Gary carried me after I slept off. We’d made love almost all night, each round more thrilling than the last.
“Merry Christmas Gary…” I say and smile.
“Merry Christmas… today’s gonna be awesome.” He places a kiss on my forehead and flung his legs out of the bed leaving me wondering why he said that. Gathering the covers I stalk to the closet and take out my robe. I turn and Gary is staring at me.
“Gotta change.” I glare at him and he chuckles
“Why not change in front of me. Don’t act like I haven’t seen it all.” My cheeks redden in embarrassment and I stride to the bathroom, shutting the door close behind me. While running a bath, I began to imagine a lot of things. What if Gary suddenly tells me he isn’t interested in being with me. What if one day I bore him and he decides to take in another Nanny?. Tons of questions glitter through my mind and I did my best to push them all away. With Gary everything always seems right.

The rest of the day past in a blur. The press was all over the place as Gary gave endless talks wishing everyone a merry Christmas. Hazel opening tons and tons of gifts brought in by Newyorkers. I’d barely had time myself. Gary’s mom made sure I was always with her while she instructed the workers on how to set up the chirstmas decors for the Christmas party.
Long hours later I was whisked into my room and a make-up artist assigned to take care of me. Well actually baby sit me. It’s just a friggin party yet it feels like I’m about to be taken to the alter.
Now I watch myself in the mirror as the lady curls my hair.
“Boss won’t recognize you when he sees you.” She smiles her compliment. I nod gently, she wasn’t exaggerating. I’m putting on a short v neck gown, studded with tiny diamonds, which I’m sure is real. Fortunately it stopped a bit above my knees. My back was exposed and my hair held up in a high ponytail, with tendrils framing my face.
Finally she was done an hour later and left me alone. I get off the chair and take a long look at myself. My dazzling pretty figure and flawless skin.
This is a different kind of Lesley!. The Lesley I’ve always wished for. Now its like a dream come true for me. The year’s return but this time it’s of gratitude. I blink back all of it, I’d hate to ruin my makeup and sit for an hour again to retouch. Gary already left an hour ago to receive the guests. I amble out of the room, taking cautious steps to the elevator. As it rides up, a feeling of nostalgia overwhelmed me and I shut my eyes to shake off the feeling. God!, Please not now. The door slides open and I step out and take the flight of stairs leading to the large hall. A guard opens the door for me and cool music hits my ear.
I stop in my tracks and mutter a wow as I scanned the hall. The hall is filled with tables upon tables, with people clustering around them, discussing in animated tones.
My eyes stops on Gary. He had his back to me and was talking with a number of men all in black suit. I knew some of them, thanks to Stacy. They were billionaires from all part of the country. This gonna be a long night. I make my way towards the bar. I don’t want to disturb Gary. I feel some guests steal glances at me. infact most of the young guys where stealing glances at me. I hear one of the ladies say.
“Can you take your lame eyes off her babe…” I puff out a breath, uneasy and nervous. I finally sit at the large bar.
“Rosé” I tell him as I lean comfortably into the high stool. He slides the glass of drink across me and i. smile a thanks before raising up to my lips. I turn on the chair so my back is leaning against the counter and I’m facing the hall. I smile as I see Hazel running between the guests, two girls trying to catch her. My eyes lock with Francis who is sitting at the far end of the hall. I quickly look away from his dark piercing gaze. Gary was still talking and it appeared serious. I don’t plan on disturbing him. His parents were sitting at filled with old men and women, eating and talking. I sigh and take a sip of my wine.
“Merry Christmas Mrs Gauthier!.” I whip my head sideways to see Brie leaning on the bar, in a provocative black dress. I clamp my lip tightly and tighten my grip on my glass. Dammit!.
“It’s a friendly greeting Mrs Gauthier, a sincere one. ” she says and giggle sarcastically. I took a sip of my wine.
“I don’t accept compliments from dirty hoes like you.” I blurt out in annoyance. I remember when she had insulted me countless times. There was a pause, that hit her hard. She finally chuckles.
“You’ve got nerves munchie.” she took a gulp of her wine and rake her eyes down my body, trying to hide the anger. “Gary has fucked you real hard that’s the reason why huh.”
I roll my eyes and scoff. “Yeah, atleast I’m not begging for sex like your lame pussy does.” I interpolate. I won’t let her go so easily without giving her a piece of my mind. She nods.
“Nah, you can have your prince in shining armor all to yourself. I don’t need him.” She sits on a stool beside me and face the hall.
“I hope you will stick to him forever, after all he is.”
I threw a glance at her.
“What do you mean?”
“Take a deep breath sweet pea…. you mean he hasn’t told you?” I arch my brows.
“What’s he supposed to tell me.?” Now I face her arching my brows in confusion. She rakes her eye down my body again.
“Too bad then I would do you a great favour by letting you know who really your cute sweet dick is.”
“Gary hate commitments darling, he’s someone you can’t tame. Sooner or later you’d leave him, even if he doesn’t break up with you.” I try not to pretend I’m shaken my this so I take a sip of my wine.
“That’s for me to decide Brie.”
“Oh yeah I know!. How about I tell you this?.” She gulps down the rest of her drink and get off the stool. She lean close to me and I could feel her hot breath on mine. she smelled of cigarettes.
“Gary, Is a serial killer, an assassinator. You can’t stay sweetie, he will definitely kill you someday.” She smirked at how pale my face goes before stridiy away. I stare at her for a full moment, dazed. Shakily I drop the glass on the table and slide down the stool.
My heart is pounding erratically and I feel drowsy already I push my way through the crowd and finally stop at the balcony at the far end of the hall. My eyes goes blurry and I hug myself. Gary, a serial killer and an asassinator?.
I try to steady myself by taking in deep breaths. my knees felt weak already and my eyes were moist. Why am I always given the badluck side of life.
“Hey brunnie.” I flinch as I hear his voice. I turn and look up at him, scared. What If he’s capable of killing me?.”
“What’s the matter…. you look pale” his eyes were soft and I try not to get distracted.
“I’m–I”m fine Gary.” I stutter. He shook his head.
“No you’re not, come on spill it out.” He stroke my chin. I shut my eyes briefly. Gary doesn’t look like someone who could kill. I shrug out of his touch.
“I’m good Gary, just wanted to take in some fresh air.” He stares at me for a moment and sigh.
“Alright Lesley, let’s go back to the party. I have an announcement to make.” He wraps his arms around my waist and I tense up. I just wanna be alone.
