Ren’s mansion
She tosses on the bed and sits up afterward. Checking the message for the umpteenth time, she can only wonder how true this is. This was the same company she went to before, and she was rejected. Not that she wasn’t qualified, but that stupid Ren practically rejected her because she is chubby. That’s the craziest shit she’d ever experienced in her life, and until now, she still hasn’t been able to get over it.
‘Does Ren knows about this?’ That is the question that keeps ringing in her head as she tosses the phone on the bed. She can’t help but anticipate his return tonight. Maybe he would talk about it with her later when he returns home, but on second thought, she feels like it may not be possible. This person rarely talks to her, so how on earth will he talk to her later?
Her stomach suddenly grumbles, and she sits up on the bed, realizing that she hasn’t had anything to eat all day. Now, she would have to go to the kitchen, and maybe she may get bullied by those maids later, but she still has to eat something, anyway.
Standing up from the bed, she drags her feet lazily toward the door, and pulls it open, walking out afterward. She feels so reluctant to go to the kitchen, not because she’s lazy to, but because she’ll be in trouble later.
Descending the staircase minutes later, the aroma coming from the kitchen makes her salivate, and although she’s not yet in the kitchen, she need not be told that the food is being prepared for Ren.
Walking her way into the kitchen, she meets Clara, the sexiest of all the maids in the mansion, making dinner. Clara is considered the most beautiful and sexiest maid in the mansion, and she’s worth it. What do you expect from someone that has a killer curve, and everything to drive any man crazy?
“What are you doing here, Lilian?” Clara turns sharply to face her as soon as she steps into the kitchen, bringing her to an abrupt halt, and she gulps down the sudden lump that forms in her throat, knowing what will happen next. Although she and Clara haven’t had an encounter ever since she moved into the mansion, she has a feeling that she would also hate her, just like every other maid in the mansion. Someone as sexy as Clara wouldn’t want to have anything to do with her, after all.
“I came to get a glass of water,” She lies, whispering the last part. Of course, that wasn’t what she came to get, but right now, she’s nervous and scared of getting insulted again. What if Clara reminds her how chubby and ugly she is? What if she reminds her that she needs to stop eating, and lose weight? She’s not mentally strong to take all that. At least not today.
“This tastes good, Lilian. Do you want to have a scoop of it? You’ll enjoy my stew, I promise,” Those words take her by surprise, and she has to snap her head up to look at her in shock. Did she just hear that from Clara, or it’s her ears messing with her now?
“Huh?” She blinks her eyes twice, so she can repeat what she said.
“Don’t be like that. Come on, have this,” Clara takes a spoonful of the stew, and tosses it into Lilian’s mouth after she blows air on it for a few seconds to make it cool.
Licking the stew, she stares back at Clara, still frozen. It’s still hard to believe that the sexy girl in the house just acted nice to her. Is this a dream or reality?
“You don’t hate me?” She wanted to ask, but she ends up biting her bottom lip, thinking that the question would be kind of odd to ask.
“Are you OK? You don’t look quite… Ok…” Clara asks, drawling the last part, and she slowly nods her head. How the hell is she supposed to be ok after the shock she just gave her? She is not used to being treated like that, she is not used to being treated like a friend, so she’s kind of still shocked.
“I am making white rice tonight. Mind eating later? I have cooked the rice already, it’s just to get done with the stew, and dish it out,” Clara says to her with a warm and friendly smile dancing on her lips, while trying to be friendly with her. She has been looking for a way to speak to Lilian ever since she stepped into the house, but she never got the chance to.
“Hmm,” She slowly nods her head, staring at Clara blankly.
“Alright. Mind keeping me company in the kitchen? I kind of feel lonely. You can help with the dishes if you want,” Clara shrugs, trying to make her free with her. She understands what this young lady has been through, so she just wants to help her get over this anxiety.
“Hmm,” She nods her head slowly, before she walks over to the sink, and gets started with washing the dishes. It feels so weird, doing this kind of thing, considering she was never allowed to touch anything in the kitchen. It feels good that someone is not avoiding her now like a plague, but she’s also scared that she would eventually reject her like every other person did.
“I’m sorry for not doing a proper introduction. My name is Clara Wilson. A high school dropout, and currently here, trying to raise money for my school later. What about you?” Clara says, trying to brighten the intensified atmosphere, and she shrugs.
“Lilian Sanchez,” She says simply, because what the hell is there to know about her? She doesn’t have a happy family since her dad falls ill, nobody likes her, even in her high school and college, so what’s there to talk about?
“Hmm,” Clara nods her head slowly. Although she wants to know more about this young lady, she also understands that she may not want to talk about herself now. She has been traumatized because of the way she was treated, so she is not going to force things, maybe keeping things slow will be just fine.
“Uhm… I will be going to the cinema tomorrow evening to watch the new movie, Wakanda. Do you mind coming with me?” Clara further asks, earning a glance from her.
She has stopped visiting cinemas in recent years of her life, because of the weird stares she does get whenever she goes there. She prefers reading books, which is why she has so many novels on her shelf to keep her busy always.
“I’m not a fan of movies, but sure, I will follow you,” She replies to Clara, and the young lady can’t help the excitement that fills her heart.
An awkward silence assumes the air afterward, as she slowly does the dishes, glancing at Clara every second, while having different thoughts roaming her mind.
Finally done doing the dishes, Clara serves her food, and she takes it to her room.
Stepping into her room, she meets her phone ringing. She drops the tray of food on the table and picks up the phone. It’s Nate on the phone.
“Hey,” She says lowly once she answers the call.
“Hey, it has been a while. How have you been?” Nate’s voice sounds through the phone, and she nods her head like he can see her.
“I’m fine,” She replies to him, walking over to the window side to close her window.
“Hmm. Sorry I haven’t checked on you, been busy. I just moved into my new apartment,” He says, and she hums.
Getting the window closed, she stops abruptly and squints her eyes as someone catches her attention. The person standing on the balcony of the house next door, holding a phone to his ear looks so much familiar to her.
“Nate?” She calls to be sure that her eyes are not deceiving her.
“Yeah. See you tomorrow…”
“Is that you?” She cuts him off, and her mouth drops open when he finally looks in her direction. Nate moved into the house next door, he is fucking living close to her…
