The next day
His head bangs as he opens his eyes to see the white blurry ceiling. He groans tiredly and closes them back.
“You’re finally awake,” Leo’s voice disrupts him, and he finally forces his eyes open to find himself in a familiar room, but it has been long since he was last in this room.
“Are you sober now, or do you need me to pour cold water on your head?” Leo asks sarcastically, causing him to tilt his head to look at him lazily.
“How did I end up here?” Ren asks lazily as he touches his forehead and yawns tiredly. He finally recognizes the room to be Leo’s.
“How will you know how you ended up here when you kept messing around at the club yesterday? I warned you to stop drinking, but you didn’t listen,” Leo shakes his head in dissatisfaction.
“I’m sorry if I caused any trouble for you yesterday…”
“I think you should save that for your mom and Tracy,” Leo snaps at him and stands up to his feet.
“What do you mean?” He pulls a puzzled look as he finally sits up on the bed and runs his hands through his hair. Trying to recall what happened yesterday, he sighs briefly when he can’t seem to picture everything that happened. What the hell did he mean by that?
“Ponder on it well, you’ll remember it eventually. I’ll get you some medicines for your hangover,” Leo says before he strides out of the room, closing the door behind him.
“What happened?” He mutters as he taps his forehead repeatedly, trying to recall what happened the previous day, but nothing seems to be coming through for him. His phone suddenly starts ringing, and he reaches out for it lazily. His face beams when he sees the caller is Tracy. He quickly slides the answer button.
“Tra…”
“Why are you always hurting me, Ren? What have I ever done to you?” Her teary voice sounds through the phone, and he pulls a puzzled look while wondering what she’s talking about.
“Wha…” His voice trails off as it suddenly hits him hard that he promised to pick her up from the hospital this morning. His eyes widen in shock as he checks the wall clock, and it’s already 12pm. How the heck did he sleep so much?
“When did you start molesting a girl?” Her words pierce through his ears, and he blinks his eyes confusingly. For the next few seconds, he tries to understand what she’s talking about. Like a movie, the scene of the previous night comes replaying in his head. He remembers everything now. What the hell was he even thinking?
“It’s not what you think, Tracy. I can explain, OK?” He stutters as he stands up from the bed and quickly grabs his shirt from the bed.
“Let’s meet later,” The call drops dead after her voice, and he sighs briefly.
“Shit!” He curses under his breath as he pulls the door open and storms out of the room, rushing down the hallway afterward. Since it’s his friend’s house, and he has been here for a couple of times, he knows his way around here.
Descending the staircase as fast as he can, he dashes to the exit door and pulls it open.
“Hey, man. Where are you going?” Leo asks as he comes out of the kitchen.
“I need to go somewhere now. I will call you later,” And without waiting for another second, he storms out of the house and slams the door behind him.
Driving down the road later, he keeps hitting the steering wheel angrily. He’s mad at himself for messing things up. Who knows, maybe he would’ve been able to sort things out with Tracy if he had not let this set in.
Arriving at Tracy’s house a few minutes later, he parks at the parking lot and hops out of the car, rushing to the entrance door like a crazy person. He has lost his mind already, knowing what may be the outcome of this.
He stops in front of the door and takes a deep breath before he places a knock on the door, and a few minutes later, the door opens, revealing Tracy’s maid, Laura.
“Good day, Sir,” Laura greets him politely, and he nods his head.
“Please where is Tracy?” He asks anxiously.
“I’m sorry, Sir. But ma’am Tracy doesn’t want to see you now,” Laura replies to him, and he slowly clenches his fists beside him. He was expecting this anyway. It was all his fault, but she should just give him a chance to explain things to her.
“Can you just let me see her, please?” He pleads with Laura, and she sighs briefly.
“I’m sorry…”
“It’s ok. I will speak to him,” Tracy finally steps out of the house and signals Laura to head back inside, and she does.
“What do you want?” She asks after she’s sure that Laura is nowhere around.
“Tracy… I’m sorry about what happened. I can explain, OK? It’s not what you think. I was… I was… I was just drunk, and…”
“Why didn’t you tell me that you married her?” Tears drop from her eyes as she stares at him with pain written all over her, like someone deeply in love, and just got her heart broken. Even if she has a sad expression on, the excitement inside her can’t be compelled. This is an opportunity for her to finally stay away from this bastard son of a bitch.
“No, it’s not like that. I didn’t marry her… She was… Believe me, please. I didn’t marry her,” He tries to explain to her, even if his explanation doesn’t make any sense.
“You never loved me, do you?” She scoffs after she wipes her tears away, and he shakes his head.
“Please, don’t say that. I love you… I do with everything in me…”
“Then why do you still cheat on me? Because I don’t have the quality you want in a woman? You don’t want to keep me because you other women, and you don’t also want to let me go, why?” She screams as more tears streams down her cheeks. This time, the tears are real. She’s sad that her mom can’t see how bad this dude is, she’s sad that she doesn’t even have a say in her own life at her age, she’s broken that her parents put their interest before her, she’s sad that she may eventually have to still end up with this cheat, even if she doesn’t want to. Yes, she could’ve run away if that’s what you’re thinking, but who says that she won’t be found eventually? She has tried to do that before, but it wasn’t long and she was brought back home, so it’ll be pointless to do that now.
“I’m sorry… I promise you, Tracy. This won’t happen again…”
“And you want me to believe you? No, I can’t be fooled by you again, Ren. You’re a cheat, and you will always remain one. Just call off the damn engagement and let’s all go our separate ways,” She pleads with him as more tears streams down her cheeks.
“I don’t love you anymore, Ren. Not after everything you have done to me. I don’t want to be with you, is that too hard to do?” She cries out, ignoring the pain in her head. She’s just recovering from the accident and should be resting now, but it doesn’t seem like it’ll work.
“I’m sorry if I hurt you, Tracy. I promise to make it up to you… I won’t hurt you again…”
“What do you think of me? Someone you can always deceive with your fake promises? I gave you second, third, fourth, fifth chances, I gave you many chances that I have lost count of, but you messed everything up. Do you think you still deserve another one?” She scoffs, and he bites his bottom lip. He has been a jerk, he knows that, but he just wants another chance to prove to her that he’s a changed man now. He hasn’t been with another woman recently, he has been trying to stay faithful to her.
“Tracy…”
“Tell mom that you want to break up with me. Just call off the damn engagement. I will do anything you want, aside from marrying you. Just call the engagement off, please,” She holds his hands and squeezes them gently as more tears streams down her cheeks.
He stares back at her with pain written all over him. He loves her so much, and he doesn’t want to lose her, but he caused it all. It was all his fault.
“Please don’t do this, Tracy. I love you,” A drop of tears finally slid down his cheek, but she yanks his hands off and steps away from him. She thought this would work, she thought that he’ll be willing to let go, and she thought that he will free her from this bondage, but turns out that she was mistaken.
“Please don’t do this,” He pleads again…
