THIRD PERSON’S POINT OF VIEW
“Hi, Claudia” Rita greeted immediately a young lady dressed in PJs flung the door to her home open, she looked a little bit younger than Rita.
“Rita?” Claudia called in surprise, it’s very obvious from her expression she wasn’t expecting any guests, especially in this late hour.
Rita made to step in, but somehow lost balance and almost trip, if not for Claudia who quickly caught her before she could fall face flat.
“Whoa, whoa, what happened? Why are you so drunk?”
“A bîtch happened” Rita replied with an offended scoff. “Come on, help me in” she said.
Claudia nodded. She let Rita lean on her, then supported her inside after locking the door behind them.
They were approaching a sofa in the living room, but Rita insisted on sitting at the dinning table, stating it’s closer to the restroom in case she wanna puke, and not wanting to argue with her, Claudia agreed.
“Rita, what do you say about taking a shower first to cool off?”
“No, no, no” Rita disagree vehemently. “I have an important piece of information to share with you”
She tried to pull out a chair, but ended up pulling the table instead and scoffed in frustration when it wouldn’t move.
“Dumbàss!” she grumbled angrily then kicked the table.
Seeing how she couldn’t do it herself, Claudia pulled out a chair and helped her sit on it, then rushed towards the fridge and came back with a bottle of chilled water.
“Here” she said after opening the cap and dropped it in front of Rita.
“Thanks”
Rita reached for the water, she quickly drank a few gulps and poured the leftover on her head.
Claudia sat on a chair next to Rita’s.
“I don’t understand you at all, Claudia” Rita said immediately she gulped as much water as she could down her throat. “Don’t you love my brother?” she asked.
She didn’t let Claudia respond, before reaching forward and held Claudia’s hands in her, then looked into her (Claudia’s) eyes -it seemed like the water has helped her sober up a little bit.
“You love my brother and wanna spend the rest of your life with him, don’t you?”
Claudia nodded quickly.
“Of course, I love Ferguson, more than everything on this earth plane”
Rita’s eyes squinted as she looked into Claudia’s for a brief moment, then shook her head in disappointment.
“Then why aren’t you doing nothing about it? If you truly love my brother, why are you letting him fool around with other women?” she paused as if to rethink her words, then she shook her head in disagreement. “They aren’t women, they’re whóres, slûts!” she spat out angrily.
She banged on the table, and fisted her hand.
“Claudia, you’re such a good girl, I think you’re the only girl fit to join our family, and it’s time for you to wake up, and take some actions, it’s time for you to use your feminine charm”
There was a brief pause as Rita was struggling to find the right words in her drunken state.
“Don’t just leave everything to me, I can’t fight those his slûts alone, I mean I’m doing the best I can but I need some help from you” she gave Claudia’s hands a little, reassuring squeeze. “If you really love my brother, if you really wanna be with him then you’d do something to have him all to yourself and…”
Her words faltered while a long and tired yawn left her mouth. She let go of Claudia’s hands, slowly and carefully got up, then looked around for a sofa. A smile appeared on her face when her eyes landed on a sofa in the living room, she quickly staggered towards it and fell on it, with her face pressed on the seat.
She were saying some things, but her words were mumbled because of her face pressing against the sofa, and Claudia could only pick a few words.
“… if you truly love him, you wouldn’t let him fool around everyday, women in love do everything and anything to keep their men, but you’re….”
Another yawn left her mouth and her words were left unfinished as sleep embraced her.
Claudia went near her, she moved some hair away from her (Rita’s) face, and sat on the space next to her.
“I guess I’ll visit aunt tomorrow” she said to herself.
