Kayden’s POV
My phone rang and I groaned, opening my eyes. I reached for the phone but it slipped off the bed.
I had to get down from the bed to get it, it seemed like everything out there was finding a way to get at me.
I grabbed my phone, it was Davis calling, I was about to pick up the call when it ended. I did not want to hear anyone’s voice right now but then the thought that he could have news about the attacked pack, Shadow pack was what prompted me to call him back.
He picked up at the first ring.
“Any news?” I asked, caressing my brows.
“None but you asked me to book you a ticket to Shadow pack town.” Davis replied and I shut my eyes tightly.
I had even forgotten about that.
“Don’t tell me you forgot,” he said.
“I did, and so what?”
“I… I am just surprised… I am shocked.”
“Quit rambling and meet me at my home in Caravan estate,” I said to him and ended the call.
I slid the phone to the table and sat on my bed, looking at the tiled floor. No matter how much I did not even want to think about it, the thoughts of Mantha kept finding their way into my head every single time… I could wonder how she was feeling at the moment after I had rejected her.
Her teardrops that had started dropping the moment I told her I was rejecting her was enough to tell me how she would be feeling at the moment, she would be feeling very down but then I am only doing what’s good for her. She might never come to realize that but this is it.
I shook off the thoughts and pulled off my clothes to go take a bath. Jay was silent throughout my bath except for moments when he growled angrily.
Her shapeshifting was not supposed to have happened, she was not even supposed to be a wolf! If she was not one, this bond, this connection, it probably would not be there.
I dressed up in an all-white attire.
Samantha’s POV
“Cassie!” I called and Cassie walked over to me
“Is this really true?” I asked her and she looked into her phone that was in my hands and nodded.
“It should be… It is mostly true… Men love girls who dress this way.” she replied and I nodded.
“Thank you, when are we going to get receiving our pay?” I asked.
“Oh… I almost forgot! We should receive it today.” Cassie grinned and I nodded, taking another look at the video on the phone’s screen.
What was I expecting? Alpha Kayden would definitely want a classy lady like his Luna… He would want a girl who wore fashionable clothes and dresses and that is what I am going to do.
Perhaps this could be seen as desperation or frustration but then if that is what it takes to get Alpha Kayden, then I am quite willing to be desperate.
“Do you agree to my plan Cara?” I asked Cara.
“If you think you being not classy enough is the reason our mate refused us then we have to be a bit classy. I want my mate.” Cara said to me.
“Then I would go for it,” I replied her.
I got up from the bed and checked the time it was afternoon already. To stay in bed and drown in sadness was not the solution, I only need to fix myself to be the way I would be suited for Alpha Kayden.
I would just adjust myself to his taste perfectly.
“Can we go and request for our pay now?” I asked Cassie.
“I have no idea and more? More maids are coming here today so the cleaning and other chores would be fully covered.”
“I was not asking about that,” I grumbled.
“Cute money-loving wolf.” Cassie chuckled.
“Who does not love money?” I asked and she pointed to herself.
“Not me,” she replied and we both laughed for a moment.
I felt better now that I had found a seemingly suitable solution to get Alpha Kayden to accept me, I would not accept his rejection.
I and Cassie found our way out of the quarters and walked into the living room. I halted staring at the stairs that led to Alpha Kayden’s room, the room where I received my rejection!
“Hey James,” Cassie called out and James walked to where we were standing with a small smile on his face.
“Hello Samantha and Cassie,” he said with a smile and before we could even request our pay he handed two envelopes to me.
“Here you go the both of you. Today is the day you receive your pay, right?” He asked and we both nodded in ecstasy.
“Thank you so much.” we chorused and I handed Cassie her envelope.
“So much money.” I mouthed to myself while peering into the envelope.
I was completely lost in counting the money when I bumped into someone, I gasped slightly staring at the manly figure in front of me. My money was on the floor.
“I… I am sorry.” I apologized several times but he merely gazed at me for a while before speaking up.
“You are Samantha?” He asked.
“Yes sir,” I replied and then he walked away.
“Wow! Even beta Davis has heard of your name.” Cassie said like it was a super huge thing that he heard my name.
“Maybe Alpha Kayden discussed you to him.” Cassie giggled.
“I don’t really care,” I stated, picking up my money that was on the floor.
I arranged the money properly and slipped it back into the brown envelope.
“Cassie, can we go out today?” I asked her.
“I have no idea, we do not have a day off, do we?” Cassie asked me.
“I really need to get some dresses,” I grumbled and she narrowed her eyes at me.
“Get some dresses….. For Alpha Kayden?” She asked and I looked to the floor, blushing slightly.
“If it’s for him, then we can go ask James!”
