We never really stood a chance. But we fought hard. We dropped 6 Vampires on the spot and Jake must have bitten maybe 5 of the other Vampires. And I knew for certain that werewolf bite was fatal to Vampires.
They wouldn’t die immediately, but slowly and excruciatingly painful. But they had enough strength left to knock Jake out cold and bring me to my knees.
I surrendered mainly because Jake was out. But the bundled us up with the others and stumbled out.
“That was awesome!” Zach yelled.
“True, Jason.” Billy said. “Where did you learn to fight like that?”
“You dropped the 4 of those Vampires by yourself. Jake bit them too, but you gave the killing blow.” Mart said, coming over to my side.
“When did you guys get back?” Arthur asked.
I crawled over to where Jake was thrown and checked his pulse. It was low but still beating. He had shifted back to human and was now naked. I wrapped him with my jacket and went back to where I stayed.
“I’ll answer all your questions when I wake.” I said wearily. And I blacked out too.
I woke up to the sound of the banging of metal. Someone was hitting the gate. It was early morning. I looked at my wrist and surprisingly, my watch was still intact and working. The watch said the time was 2:17am.
I groaned and looked up. Jake was up already and clutching my jacket tightly to his middle.
A group of Vampires were at the door. The group was headed by a blonde, mean looking woman. She down at us with down trodden lips and a sneering look. Then she glanced on the pile of bodies outside the cell.
“You said they did this? Those two? The naked one and that one over there?”
“Y-yes ma’am.” A big vampire said. He was sweating and had red circles around his eyes. He was suffering from Jake’s bite.
A black vampire was kneeling beside the first Vampires I had killed. The one that I ripped his ribs open. “Look what they did to Ellie.”
“Nina, get yourself together.” The blonde woman said.
Then she turned and look at me. Her eyes seemed to bore into my very soul. Then she said, “You might be wondering who I am. I am Rosetta. An Elder vampire and the one that wants your head… or your heart. Either way is fine.”
We were in deep trouble. I knew that for sure. The acknowledgement made me shudder and I had a deep sinking feeling in my chest that I knew we were going to die. I felt more fear than I had ever felt in my life.
“Bob. Pack these bodies out and burn them. And you, Bart. We’ll find a cure for that arm of yours. Sofia should be able to help. And you’ll have the pleasure of killing the wolves yourself. Carl, find clothes for that boy. I dont want him to die from frost bite.”
They walked out, locking us in.
“Keep an eye on those boys.” I heard Rosetta say. “They can be pretty mischievous as a group.”
A Vampire walked in and tossed a change of clothes to Jake, who quickly put them on.
“What were you guys doing here?” Arthur asked.
“Saving you, obviously. It turned out that we were ambushed.” Jake replied. “How long have you guys been here?”
“A couple of weeks. Maybe two weeks. I was not counting.” Arthur said.
“What happened to you guys? We went out searching for you and got attacked and imprisoned.” Billy said.
“We were also in trouble. The Fey Watchers kidnapped us.”
“Damn. We are all fucked up.” I said, silencing the boys will my language.
Zach had a new look on his face as he looked at me and said, “You’ve changed. Not so much physically but I know it. I feel it.”
Matt nodded in agreement.
“We have all changed. And when I get my hands on Bruce. I’ll leave him for Jake to kill.”
“I’ll gladly do so.” Jake muttered, leaning back and resting his head on the wall.
“Who is Bruce?”
“The vampire that pretended to want to help us… and instead led us into this.” Jake said.
“You guys shouldn’t worry much, though.” Billy said. “Sofia is going to break us out. Just watch and see.”
“Aw shut up, Billy.” Jeff said from a dark corner.
Sofia. The dark witch. “Sofia. The witch?”
“You’ve met her?” Billy asked.
I shook my head and said, “No.”
“Then how do you know her?” Jake asked.
I was ready to let the question pass so I just shrugged my shoulders. But they ere waiting for my answer. So I said, “The Alpha in Brazil told me about her.”
“Alpha Salvatore?” Jake asked.
I nodded. “We talked about her.”
“You guys were in Brazil?” Arthur asked again.
“Yep.” Jake said to him. Then he turned to me and said, “Is that what you guys were always talking about?”
I nodded. “Yeah. We talked about that… and many other things. He showed me his cars. We drank together. He told me alpha stuffs.”
“He did?” Jake asked, wide eyed.
“Yep.” I looked out the window. The first rays of sunlight could be seen through a small window at the top corner of our cell. The smell of burning bodies filled the air too. That was one thing they never tell you from the movies, the smell of burning bodies stink!
I would have vomited, if I had eaten anything but my stomach was empty so I just heaved dry reaches.
The other boys were having a tough time too.
“You guys know we are going to die, right?” Jeff asked the question on everyone’s mind.
Nobody answered him, they just sat still. But I nodded.
“ONE OF THE boys?” Jamie asked. He was pale. “Which one of them? Which?”
Zhao stepped to aside and presented another tall slim Watcher. “Alyssé will tell you more about it.”
Alyssé stepped forward and cleared his throat. “I’m afraid we are having the first case of a child having a werewolf and a werecat in one body.”
“My son?” Croaked Jamie.
“Have you noticed how agile he is?” Alyssé asked.
Jamie nodded. “But how?”
“The Feline trait might have been lying dormant for centuries and passing itself from generation to generation in your wife’s family. And then decided to become dominant now.”
“I always knew there was something off about that boy.”
“Jamie boy, don’t say that about your son.” Jaja intervened.
“So what should be done?” Jamie asked.
“It depends on you.” Zhao said. “Since he is of alpha blood and he has not really committed any crime, we cannot have him killed.”
“Killing him was an option?”
“Do you have any idea what a werecat can do?” Zhao asked.
“No.”
“Well, I lived through the prime of that species. I lived through the great war a millennia ago and I can tell you one thing. I don’t want to ever experience such thing again.”
“What else can be done?”
“We could give him a cuff.” Zhao replied. “The cuff will suppress the Feline in him.”
“I feel there’s something you’re not telling me.” Jamie said. “And it’s not something I would like to hear.”
Zhao cleared his throat again before speaking. “… and then, he must be excommunicated from your pack.”
“In other words…”
“Yes, He has to become an Omega.” Zhao finished.
“That’s not possible.” Jamie breathed. “Icant send my little boy out into the world as an Omega.”
“You must. We will follow you on the flight back to London to start the cuffing process. Call home and tell them to keep him home and ready for us.” Zhao said and bowed away.
“I can’t do what he’s asking, I-Its too much.” Jamie shook his head. He looked devastated. He brought his phone to call his wife. But beside he could dial it, the phone rang. “Unknown number.”
“Pick it.” Claude urged. He was speaking for the first time.
A harsh voice rang through the speaker. “I have my price. In a week’s time, it will end where it all began.” And the line went dead.
“What does that even mean?” Jamie looked dumbfounded.
“Oh my God!” Claude exclaimed. He brought out his phone and called his wife. They spoke for a few seconds and he looked up at Jamie. “Jason is not home.”
“Call Charlotte.” Jaja said to Jamie.
Jamie called. It went to voicemail.
“I fear Rosetta may have our sons.” Claude said.
