“When would we attack? Since it has been the demons and they keep dying compared to the number of wolves who died?” Brooklyn requested.
“Soon, I would wear everyone down and then attack when they’re weak. Are you that eager to kill Austin?” Dracula retorted with a laugh.
“If Austin doesn’t die, Ariana would never fall in love with me. I would do anything just to make her mine”
“Is she so special? I don’t see any unique thing about her” Dracula suggested.
“If you had a heart then you would see her uniqueness” Brooklyn eplied and walked away.
The shaman opened the underground safe and Austin walked inside, accompanied by Fiona.
With a spell, the sword was removed from its sheath. The shaman shook slightly when he held the sword, it was zapping the life out of him but he braced himself up.
“Are you sure about this Austin? It might cost your life. This is no joke son” The shaman warned and Austin nodded his head with determination.
“Take the sheath with you, don’t push yourself too much. If you feel weak stop fighting and return the sword to its sheath” The shaman advised, Austin’s eye darted around and he saw the vampire’s eye.
“That… that..” He stuttered.
“Do you need it?” The shaman requested and he shook his head negatively.
“I need it” Fiona announced and the shaman handed it to her. With one last piece of advice, they went out and began fighting the demons.
He noticed the demons were twice the previous day’s own. With a sigh, he let out a cry as he lurched forward, piercing a demon’s heart. He used the demon as a shield against the other demon who attacked.
The sword was too sharp and powerful. Any demon it cuts, the demon would die no matter how powerful it was.
Fiona from her side watched Austin from the corner of her eyes as she battled with a two-faced demon. She screamed as the blade sliced her neck slightly.
Harry was fast to kill the demon. She winced in pain as she held her bleeding neck. “Quick, let’s get you to somewhere safe” Harry suggested as he held her hand and teleported to an abandoned house.
“You should go, I’ll be fine” Fiona instructed.
“No, I can’t leave you this way, what if something happens to you?” Harry replied, cutting a part of his top which he wrapped around her bleeding neck.
“Why are you being stubborn, the pack needs you more than I do” Fiona scolded holding his hands.
“Damn it, Fiona, I can’t leave you this way. My heart wouldn’t be at rest” He replied, tenderly staring at her.
“I know what your heart desires are but you shouldn’t let your heart rule your head” She mumbled and he put a finger on her lips.
“I’ve always told you that the fact that you’re married to my brother wouldn’t stop me from loving you and I mean it” Harry silenced as he sat on the floor and put her head on his lap.
“Do you think we’ll be able to win? Most of our wolves have joined forces with Dracula’s. Will everything go back to the way it was before?” She requested calmly.
“Let’s not lose all hope, Austin wouldn’t let us down” Harry assured.
“This is all my fault, if I hadn’t destroyed the zapper out of anger, we could have zapped his powers and if I had paid more attention to Brooklyn, he wouldn’t have freed Dracula” Fiona lamented
“No it’s nobody’s fault. It was destined to happen anyway” Harry replied.
“O wonder if Sawyer college would still function. Would the business still exist or would it perish with us? I don’t know if I’ll heal or die but you must promise me that Austin wouldn’t end up dead and Dracula’s power would be locked” She instructed faintly.
“Save your strength, you would do these things yourself when you heal” He shushed, his heart feeling heavy as he stared at her.
“Go, I don’t want you to keep seeing me this way. Just go” She ordered.
“No, I can’t leave you here alone…”
“Go, if anyone asks about me, tell them I’ve gone in search of Ariana. If I don’t die, I’ll come and fight by your side but here are the vampire’s eyes. You must cage Brooklyn, tell Austin I love him so much and I’m very proud of him” She instructed, smiling as tears dropped from her eyes.
“But… I can’t leave..”
“Just go!” She growled and Harry stood up, tears falling from his eyes as he stared at the only woman he’s ever loved, the main reason why he never got married. He bit his lips, biting back tears that threatened to fall.
Austin noticed his uncle looked sad and fierce when he fought several demons.
All Harry could hear was Fiona’s frail voice it fueled his anger as his claws sprouted out and he clawed several demons, his eyes clouded with tears.
He remembered her smile and all the times they spent together. He wished he could die instead of her.
The shaman fought with his staff, feeling something wasn’t right. He stared at Austin and saw his neck bleeding. He wasn’t stabbed but the sword was going to kill him if he didn’t drop it.
With a scream, he ran to Austin, held his hand and dragged the sword from him. His body wavered as he held the sword. “Go now!” The shaman yelled but Austin fell to the ground, crying as he held his neck.
The shaman took his arm and teleported to the house. He dropped Austin on the chair and ran to get some ointments.
“Why didn’t you listen to me?” You should stop being atubborn” The shaman demanded, returning the sword to its sheath.
“Do I still have any hope? If I die while fighting, I’ll be regarded as a hero but if I run away, I’ll be called a coward so why do I need to run?” Austin replied staring at the wall blankly.
“I’ll tell everyone to retreat, they must be exhausted” The shaman informed as he wiped Austin’s neck. After cleaning Jayden’s wound, he teleported to where they were fighting and ordered them to retreat and continue another day.
Austin searched around for his mom and was shocked when he couldn’t find her. “Did she go to lock Brooklyn’s powers?” He wondered.
“Uncle, please have you seen my mom?” Austin inquired and a bell rang in Harry’s head, his tongue felt tied and he wondered how he would break the news to Austin.
“Uncle?” Austin called for the second time staring at his uncle.
“She went in search of Ariana, she’ll be back soon” Harry replied quickly but Austin wasn’t going to let her go there. Angrily, he teleported to Brooklyn’s house.
“You bastard! How could you?” He raged, holding Brooklyn’s collar as he punched his face.
“Stop displaying your foolishness and leave now!” Brooklyn ordered pushing Austin
“Why did you do it? Were you that desperate to reduce your enemies? How could you be blinded with so much hatred?” Austin wailed with his voice shaky.
“Wht are you talking about?” Brooklyn inquired, confused.
“Don’t act ignorant with me, I’m talking about mom”
“Mom! What’s wrong with mom? Where is she now? If anything happens to her I swear I won’t spare you” Brooklyn threatened.
“Save your empty threats for yourself and stop being pretentious. You’re a real asshole. You’re brave enough to tell mom about Ariana’s whereabouts yet you couldn’t tell me. Real fool” Austin insulted.
“You idiot, I never told anyone about where Ariana stays. Where the fuck is mom? Has she been kidnapped?” Brooklyn demanded, holding Jayden’s collar.
“How would I know, you’re the only one who knows where Ariana is” Austin retorted, removing his hand roughly.
” I hope this isn’t a plan to get to Ariana? Fine I’ll take you there” Brooklyn surrendered.
“Let’s go to the city to get some things” Lucile declared, stretching his hand and her face beamed with a smile.
“Isn’t everywhere closed and filled with demons? How are we gonna buy anything?” She quizzed as he pulled her up.
“When I said city, I meant another country or state” He chuckled as he created a small portal which they used to travel to a large mall.
“Wow, it’s huge and beautiful. Do you have any money?” She queried as her eyes took in her environment.
“Don’t underestimate me, I’m the ancient demon doesn’t mean I can’t act cool” He replied, bringing out a credit card from his bag as he led her to the store.
“People are staring at our dresses, we look like warriors from the 18th century. Can we change our clothes first? I just hate the attention” She demanded, drawing the cloak cap to cover her face to avoid stares.
A bunch of kids laughed at them and she muttered a curse, wishing she could smack their bums. “Why should I care, I’ll leave this place in a few hours” He replied with a shrug.
“Where are we?” She quizzed.
“England, do you have a problem?” He retorted with a cocked brow.
“No, just curious but why England of all countries where we have Spain, Italy, Korea?” She demanded.
“Just keep quiet and buy the things you want. This might be the last time you’ll have the chance to visit a store. You don’t have any more time to waste on unnecessary things, you need to start training now” He instructed and she nodded.
She opened her mouth with shock as she stared at the different sizes of ice-creams. She licked her lips as she thought of how she would take the ice creams back.
“Hurry, we don’t have much time” Lucile urged and she got a basket hurriedly. She put 1 big bucket of ice cream, took lots of chocolates without counting, she got some crackers, a few cookies and some drinks.
Lucile just smiled as he watched her make a large heap. “If only she knew lots of lives were in her hand” He thought with a sad smile as he watched her push the heavy cart into a short line.
“Won’t you get anything?” She demanded and he shook his head and stared at the cart. She had taken lots of steaks, beef and spices.
She moved forward and the attendant stared at them as she scanned the goods for their prices.
“That’ll be 27, 000 dollars” The attendant said, Ariana gasped while Lucile gave her his credit card.
She handed it back to him with the bags and he carried two while Ariana took the ice cream. “Don’t you feel weak? I’m sorry you have to carry too much load” Ariana chattered and he ignored her as he led her to a car, opened the door and put the bags there.
“Is the car yours? How did you get it?” She asked and he nodded.
“I rented it'”
“You always amaze me” She mumbled. He locked the door after giving her 2 candy bars which she devoured hungrily, moaning at the sweet taste.
He took her to a boutique where he bought more cloaks, pants and corsets. She wondered if it was for her or him. He paid for it and they went back to the car.
“Would you like some food?” He questioned and she shook her head.
“Then we can return now” He muttered with relief. He held the bags with one hand and her hand with another muttered some words and they appeared at the cave.
AUSTIN’S
“Where the hell is she at?” I blew hotly.
“I don’t know, this is the place I saw her and a demon” Brooklyn responded with a shrug.
“What demon? Who is that demon?” I inquired, holding Brooklyn’s collar.
“I don’t know” he replied, pushing me away furiously.
“This is all your fault. Ariana is nowhere to be found and now mom. Your existence only brings problems to us” I spat out and Brooklyn punched my face.
“Don’t blame me for your incompetence. If you had been brave, you would have told her before she found out. And if you’re such a great warrior, you should have protected her. Stop making it seems like you’re an hero and I’m the loser here” Brooklyn fired back and I pushed him to a rock.
“It’s funny when someone like you talked about bravery. It is your cowardice that has caused all these. You were never brave enough to fight me and you’ll never be” I scowled and Brooklyn growled at me, his nostrils flaring with anger as he stared at me with blazing eyes.
“The only thing you’ve been brave enough to do is taunt and scowl at me” I retorted and he attacked me, we both fell to the ground as we struggled to have the upper hand against each other.
