He began to talk after a moment of hesitation ” You got my text yesterday, right? ” He asked an obvious question but Ava nodded anyways.
” It’s been long we spoke, I know we’ve both been busy and all but somehow, I feel you’re avoiding me, Ava ” His voice went low at the end as he stared straight into her eyes.
Ava frowned, feigning innocence ” Avoiding you? No, that’s not true ”
Alex eyed ” You know very well what I’m talking about Ava, but I won’t push it ”
” Sorry I sidetracked for a minute, let me get straight to the point now ” He added and sighed audibly.
Ava nodded, not ready to give a reply to his previous statement, and Alex on noticing that she wasn’t ready to speak, continued.
” I really need you to stay away from Hunter ” He said seriously as his eyes bore holes into hers.
Of course Ava knew that but something in her wished to push Alex to the edge and she did that.
Once again, she feigned innocence and frowned for the second time that morning ” Why? ”
Alex raised his eyebrows as though he couldn’t believe she just asked him that question ” Did you just ask me that question?? ”
Ava crossed her arms under her breasts as she stared at him from beneath her long lashes ” I see no one else in the room, sir ”
Alex sighed. He should have expected her to act that way. Given the kind of woman she was, she sure wasn’t going to make this easy for him.
” Stay away from him Ava. Please ” He repeated and his voice held a pleading tone.
She sighed ” He’s my friend, Alex ”
” Who has done more harm than good since he came back into your life ” He shouted. He sighed, visibly calming down.
” Ava. Please ” He begged again.
” I’m sure there’s a reason why all these things are happening ” She said thoughtfully, not agreeing to his request. She stood up and walked over to the window. Her back was turned to Alex as she stared into space.
” Yeah there is ” He said quietly
She whirled around in surprise ” There really is?? And what’s that? ” She inquired, more curious than scared.
” I know things have been complicated between us since that night ” Alex continued, choosing his words carefully. ” I wanted to clarify about the instruction regarding Hunter and to explain why I said what I did ”
Then slowly, he began to tell her about his accident and the person behind it. He also told her about Angel’s obsession with him. Ava listened intently, her eyes fixed on Alex, trying to gauge the sincerity behind his words.
Their conversation delved into the heart of the matter, unraveling misunderstandings and unspoken feelings that had been festering since their romantic encounter. They navigated through a maze of emotions, gradually reaching a mutual understanding and a sense of closure.
As they conversed, the atmosphere in the room shifted from tension to a semblance of relief. Words flowed freely, allowing both Alex and Ava to express themselves without reservation, paving the way for a more open and honest connection between them.
Eventually, their discussion reached a natural conclusion, leaving them with a newfound sense of clarity and a tentative hope for the future.
” But we can’t deny the fact that. my friend is being used as a tool. Wouldn’t it be better to rescue him before it’s too late? ” She suggested anxiously.
Alex placed his palm on his face, not knowing what to say for some seconds. He looked up after a minute and stared at her expressionlessly.
” Are you too innocent or rather stupid, Ava? This guy is too dangerous to be with. You can’t get into his head ” He said, trying to drum sense into her.
” I can give it a try at least ” She said softly, already believing she could convince her friend.
” Don’t do anything Ava, I’ll settle this with Angel. Hunter is too dangerous to be with at the moment ” Alex warned.
As Alex and Ava engaged in their conversation, the initial discomfort gradually gave way to a sense of understanding. Alex clarified his intentions behind the instruction regarding Hunter, explaining how his concerns were rooted in information that led him to believe Hunter might not have Ava’s best interests at heart.
Ava listened attentively, her initial defenses softening as she comprehended the reasoning behind Alex’s actions. She shared her perspective, expressing her feelings of confusion and hurt after receiving the instruction from him. Her vulnerability allowed Alex to see the impact of his actions on her, fostering a deeper level of empathy between them.
Their conversation wasn’t just about clarifications; it became a platform for them to voice their unspoken emotions. Alex admitted to his fear of overstepping boundaries and acknowledged the complexity of their professional and personal dynamics. Ava, in turn, revealed her struggle with reconciling her feelings for Alex amidst the challenges they faced.
With each exchanged word, the walls between them began to crumble. The air that was once thick with tension now carried a sense of relief and understanding. Alex and Ava found common ground, acknowledging the misunderstandings that had kept them apart.
The vulnerability they shared brought a newfound intimacy, allowing them to see each other beyond their roles as boss and employee ( babysitter ) , as two individuals navigating the complexities of their emotions.
As their conversation drew to a close, there lingered a sense of resolution. Alex and Ava agreed to approach their relationship with a newfound openness, promising to communicate more openly in the future to prevent similar misunderstandings.
Their encounter ended with a shared sense of relief, yet an underlying uncertainty lingered, hinting at the complexities that lay ahead for them. Despite the uncertainties, there was a tentative optimism that they might be able to navigate the intricacies of their relationship moving forward.
