Alex was working in his office when a call came through. He didn’t think twice before he declined it. He sighed and continued working. Emily knocked and a second later, the door opened and she came in.
” Here are the files you asked for, sir ” She placed some files on his table and made to leave but Alex called her back.
” I don’t want to be disturbed by anyone, anyone at all, okay? ” He told her and she nodded. Then Alex dismissed her.
His phone beeped, notifying him of a text message. He checked who sent it to him but it was from an unknown number. Frowning, he read the content anyway. A minute later, he banged his fist on the table in rage as he read the text again.
” I’M GOING FOR YOUR WEAKNESS NEXT, YOU KNOW WHAT THAT IS, RIGHT? SIT BACK AND WATCH. YOU’LL NEED SOME POPCORN TOO ”
It was clear these people were taunting him and he thought about his weakness they thought they knew and smiled. He didn’t have any, or did he? The image of a blue eyed lady came to his mind and he shook his head vigorously. No no, she wasn’t his weakness and would never be. He was Alexander King, he had no weakness.
‘ You know you do and you know very well what that is ‘ The voice at the back of his mind sneered and he shoved it away. He started to pace back and forth, his mind in chaos.
First of all, he needed to reply the son of a b*tch. He yanked his phone from his table and replied to the message he received.
‘ PATIENTLY WAITING FOR YOU TO GO AHEAD AND CARRY OUT YOUR THREATS. I’LL BE WAITING FOR YOU TO HURT THE WEAKNESS YOU THOUGHT I HAVE. AH, I GUESS YOU’D BE THE ONE NEEDING THAT POPCORN ‘ He sent the message and immediately called Black to ask the whereabouts of Ava and was told she hadn’t stepped out.
Alex sighed in relief and explained the situation to Black and instructed him to be around Ava at all times. He then replaced the call after Black promised to do just like Alex instructed. He had hardly settled down when his phone rang the second time and he picked up this time.
” Alexander speaking ” He said stiffly into the speaker but nothing prepared him for the female voice which followed. It was Lauren.
” Hi there, it’s been a while ” She said, trying to sound sexy which only disgusted Alex.
He rolled his eyes but replied anyway ” Yeah, how have you been? ” He asked politely.
From the other end, she laughed throatily ” I’ve been doing pretty good, darling. Just called to check up on you and also invite you to dinner tomorrow night ”
Alex frowned and said cautiously ” Thank you, but I’ll have to decline the invitation to dinner because…. ” he didn’t get to finish his words because she cut in.
” I won’t take No for an answer Alexander, we have business to discuss, remember? ” She said firmly.
Shit, she had him hooked there, Alex thought and sighed. He knew the lady had more in mind than just having a business dinner but he couldn’t refuse.
Reluctantly, he agreed ” Alright I’ll be there, just forward the time and venue to my email. Goodbye ” He hung up, feeling irritated all of a sudden. He really hoped it wasn’t the beginning of her trying to throw herself at him. He tried to remember what she looked like but he couldn’t, there was only one image in his mind and it was his babysitter’s. God, the woman was killing him slowly, he thought groaning. He covered his face with his hands and decided to rest for a while because he couldn’t work as his head was filled with her thoughts. Ten minutes later, his phone rang and he saw it was Black calling. He was curious and scared at the same and he picked up eagerly.
” What is it, Black? Is something wrong? ” He asked, his voice laced with anxiety.
” Not at all sir, I just thought I should tell you that Miss Ava is outside as we speak ” Black took a pause before he continued ” She’s currently with the guy I took pictures of the other day ”
” He’s driving away now ” He added.
” Follow them ” Alex said without thinking.
” Of course, doing that already ” Black replied and Alex was grateful for hiring someone like him.
” Alright thanks, keep me updated ” Alex said with a tone of finality and hung up. He started pacing again. He didn’t know what was it about the guy that bothered him but he didn’t trust him one bit. He didn’t want to see him hanging around Ava but he was sure she wouldn’t agree with him since she thought he was her friend. He suddenly had the urge to tail them himself but managed to stop himself, trusting Black to do a perfect job.

” Where are we going today? ” Ava asked Hunter excitedly. He had called her earlier, asking if she was free to visit a place with him. Ava of course, had agreed eagerly.
Hunter laughed ” It’s a surprise ”
” Oh, I love surprises! ” She exclaimed and reached over to peck him on his cheek.
” Eww, get away from me ” He laughed but Ava could tell he felt uneasy. She wasn’t sure what exactly was wrong with him but she knew this definitely wasn’t her Hunter, she thought.
” Hunter, are you okay? ” She asked, feeling concerned.
” What… Yeah I’m good, just anxious I think ” He laughed but Ava could tell it was forced.
She nodded anyway, that was explainable ” Okayyy I get, you’re anxious about the surprise . Relax baby, whatever the surprise is, I’m sure you’ll do fine ” She assured him. Then she sat back in her chair, having no idea of what laid ahead of her.
