I didn’t know that after I felt asleep, Quan Shaoze stood outside of my room for a long time before he left.
However, instead of going back to his own room, he walked to his brother, Quan Jinnian’s room, which he had no courage to step in for years.
Maybe it was because I would marry Quan Jinnian tomorrow, Quan Shaoze wanted to take a look at his brother’s room on a whim.
He was heartbroken for his brother’s death, and after the incident, he never plucked up the courage to enter this room again until now.
Ever since Quan Jinnian passed away, Quan Shaoze had had the room cleaned every day, so everything inside looked like it was new.
All the furniture was still in place as before, which made people feel like Quan Jinnian was only out for business and would be back the next day.
At the thought of his brother, Quan Shaoze’s eyes turned bloodshot with a hint of pain in them.
Instantly, the incisive hatred appeared in his eyes again.
If I had seen that, I would have known that he was blaming me again. However, I still had no idea why he would bear that much hatred.
After he regained his composure a short while later, Quan Shaoze began to pace slowly about in the room while touching the furniture and the stuff around him wistfully.
He lingered in the room for quite a while and when he was about to leave, it suddenly occurred to him that he should keep some photos of him and his brother as a souvenir.
After a short while, he found several of their group photos in a drawer.
While rummaging through the drawer, he suddenly saw a letter left by Quan Jinnian.
His pupils dilated in an instant and after a good while, he unfolded the letter slowly.
“Shaoze, I know this day will come sooner or later, so I decided to write the letter in advance.”
Seeing the familiar handwriting and Quan Jinnian’s intimate form of address for him in the letter, the cold-blooded man, Quan Shaoze’s eyes turned reddish.
He managed to calm himself down soon and went on with the letter.
However, the more he read it, the more surprised he turned to be. Finally, the shock and anger on his face were replaced by a trance.
After finishing reading the letter, he froze on the spot while two sheets of writing paper slipped from his hand to the floor.
In his uninhibited handwriting, Quan Jinnian told Quan Shaoze that someone was framing him, and he also mentioned the person behind Xiao Yue and Zhao Dong, which made Quan Shaoze finally realize that I had nothing to do with his brother’s death.
Quan Jinnian ended the letter with his best wishes for Quan Shaoze. In addition, he requested him to take good care of me.
After quite a while, Quan Shaoze came back to his senses. He picked the letter up and put it away before walking out of Quan Jinnian’s room with the look of disbelief on his face.
Obviously, it had never occurred to him that the truth of his brother’s incident would turn out this way.
He had plotted everything carefully to revenge on me but ended up finding out that I was innocent!
He walked back to my room in a daze. As I was still asleep, I didn’t know that his hatred of me had dissipated and his face, which had been sullen for days, was lighting up gradually.
Feeling a little bit cold, I shivered and folded my arms. Half awaken, I felt a silhouette approaching and tucking me in.
When I was about to fall asleep again, I felt someone stroking my face with his slim fingers, which immediately woke me up with a start.
“Quan Shaoze!?”
Without noticing the complicated look in his eyes, I pushed his hand away in horror.
I thought he was going to force himself on me again.
“Yes. Am I really that scary?” With that, he sat down on the edge of my bed and pulled me into his arms with ease.
Though there was a faint smile on his lips, when I saw the icy, gloomy look in his eyes, I couldn’t help shivering.
I racked my brain, trying to say something to make him leave.
However, before I could open my mouth, his cool, soft lips sealed mine and forced back all my words.
He kissed me with all his strength, as bossy as he used to be.
However, there seemed to have been a touch of gentleness barely palpable.
I narrowed my eyes and was almost suffocated. When I met his pitch-dark, unfathomable eyes, I was surprised to find an inexplicable spark of affection in them.
