Chapter 27 – No to Comfort

Book:My Knight in Shy-ning Armor Published:2024-5-1

Drew was furious at what Tanya did. Leslie would have rolled down the stairs because Tanya purposely bumped into her.
He thought that was all, but the vile woman got other plans. All of a sudden, their classmates ran out of the room. They said there was a catfight.
Drew quickly strode out to peek, and his fists clenched when he saw what was happening. Tanya’s pulling Lemon’s hair.
Running down the stairs, he tried to squeeze in between the crowd of gossipmongers to approach the girls. Tanya was about to rush to Lemon again when he pulled her away from the scene.
He dragged her towards the gym, and her minions followed quickly. “What is this stupidity, Tanya?” He sneered, nostrils flaring.
She’s already crying, but Drew doesn’t give a shit. She hurt Lemon, and if he were to forget that she’s a girl, he would have beaten her black and blue along with her friends without asking.
“Why do you care? It’s between Lemon and me, don’t get involved!” she yelled as she wiped her tears.
Her voice was painful to the ears and Drew almost punched her mouth. “I’ll get involved if I want to since you hurt my friend,” he snapped.
Lulu and Rose glared at him with their brows creased. They were surprised at his reaction because they didn’t expect it.
Drew was a very careless person. He doesn’t care about anyone. Even if someone faints next to him, he won’t even glance.
But this is a different story. Lemon got hurt, and he still couldn’t get rid of the image of her bruised lips. He happened to see it when he pulled Tanya earlier.
“What is wrong with you, Drew? Tanya got hurt too!” Lulu snapped at him.
Rose nodded at what their friend said, “Right! Can’t you see what happened to her?”
“I don’t care! It was her choice! You fought with someone over a guy! How cheap can you get?” Drew commented through gritted teeth, but she didn’t say a word.
Tanya didn’t say anything because she didn’t want Drew to rub it on her face that Rawbin chose Lemon over her. She doesn’t have the right to go ballistic over his choice.
Drew turned his back on them when not one of them spoke again. When he was out, he headed straight to the senior high building.
He was irritated when he saw Rawbin laughing with his friends. ‘How can he still be smiling when Leslie’s already bruised and injured?’ That’s because Rawbin doesn’t know a thing.
“Llamansares,” he called down the hall. He turned to look at Drew and creased his forehead before walking up to him.
“Hey Drew, did something happen?”
“Yes, you idiot! Go, and check on Leslie! She got into a fight with Tanya,” then he left Rawbin with his mouth wide open, looking dumb.
Drew went to the classroom, and he couldn’t find Kippler. He decided to go to the Principal’s Office instead. There he found the twin, “How was it?” they both shook their heads at him.
He suggested they file a report before Tanya can do so. They can ask for a copy of Lemon’s medical result from the clinic, and that’s what he did.
He went down, and before he got inside the clinic, Lemon came out with Kale. When he couldn’t see them anymore, he went in, requested a copy from the nurse, and brought it to the twins.
Just in time, they were already talking to the principal when he was back. Since he’s not needed there, he just gave them the copy and went down to their hangout.
He sat on one of the benches when he didn’t find anyone. After a while, he saw Rawbin running toward the cafeteria and followed him. There he saw Lemon with the rest of their bandmates.
Kip and Kellen decided to send Lemon home, but she refused. Instead, she told them that she was going to the studio.
No one went with her, as Lemon didn’t want them to miss their afternoon classes. But it’s different for Drew. No one can dictate what he can and cannot do.
He excused himself from their teachers, using the classic excuse of having diarrhea, and Drew succeeded. When he reached the parking lot, Lemon had already left.
Drew showed the guard his excuse letter, and he was permitted to leave the campus. He’s headed to the studio, but on his way there, someone hooked his neck.
It was Ysmael.
‘What is he doing here?’ Although he was surprised, confused, and scared, he still forced himself to smile at his cousin.
“Let’s eat!” Ysmael invited as he dragged him towards the nearest food chain across the school.
He didn’t refuse since he also wanted to know his purpose for coming to SMU. But at the same time, he had to be sure no one would see him with Ysmael.
Although there were not many people inside, Drew still chose to sit in the corner. He has to be careful, or this will all blow up with him.
“When did you arrive, cuz?” He asked without sounding super curious. The last time he talked to his father, he said Ysmael was still in Pamplona and was about to go to California.
“Yesterday, but I’m leaving for L. A. next week. It’s supposed to be this week, but it got delayed,” he explained.
Drew nodded at him with his forehead creased. He wanted to ask him why he was in the area but didn’t want him to be suspicious too.
“I saw someone familiar at the parking lot earlier,” he whispered with an evil grin as he placed his burger on the tray. “Was that Leslie Monica?
Drew felt like he froze after hearing what his cousin said. There’s no one else at the parking lot earlier, so he’s sure he was right. As he was shocked, he nodded at him.
‘Drew, you should have denied it! But wait, how did he know that’s Leslie?’
“Did you come here to look for her?” He mustered the courage to ask and tried to make it sound casual.
“Of course not, silly!” Then he let out a chuckle. “I went to SMU to ask for their list of requirements for transferees,” he stated.
“Why? You’re transferring?”
“Nope, not me. It’s for Myco,” and the creases on Drew’s forehead deepen.
‘Why is this person so hard to read? What is he planning, and why is Myco transferring to our school all of a sudden?’
“Lemon’s pretty, and I’m sure Myco will like her,” then he let out a hearty laugh that sent chills down Drew’s spine.
‘What does he mean? He wants to play cupid for Leslie and Myco? No way! No!’
“But I still have to convince his girlfriend. She got her reins on him and won’t let go,” he continued.
After eating, Ysmael immediately left. He said he needed to go to school to get some documents.
Drew may not have gotten anything from him, but he now has a faint idea of their plan. He just needs to make sure that his hunch is correct.
He finally headed to the studio, and there he saw Lemon sleeping. As he approached her, he noticed the bag that contained the food Rawbin had sent with her.
That means she hasn’t eaten yet. It’s already past lunchtime. Drew decided to prepare the food and wake her up.
He sat on the coffee table, watching over her. He was tempted to touch her cheek but settled for her hair instead. He lightly combed it with his fingers, but then she woke up.
He asked her to eat, and while doing so, she thanked him for saving her. Despite the happiness he felt for her appreciation, he brushed her off.
Drew doesn’t want her to be comfortable with him. He doesn’t want them to be close to each other.
The thought that his cousins were planning something against her made him feel guilty. Although he understands the root of their anger, he still can’t agree with their idea of hurting Lemon and her family.
